One thing that keepsPokemon Unitefresh and exciting is the constant release of new playable Pokemon, each possessing their own unique set of moves and abilities. Their latest release isChandelure, a brand-new Special Attack-based ranged attacker.

Although Chandelure’s abilities and move set aren’t extremely complex or difficult to master, there is a lot to learn about this Pokemon if you want to be effective on the battlefield. Below you can find everything you need to know about this new Pokemon, including exactly when and how to play as them.
When To Pick Chandelure
Being a ranged attacker, Chandelure is a great pick for players looking to make an impact offensively, possessing several attacks and abilities that truly pack a punch. Proving to possess a relatively simple kit, Chandelure is a solid pick forboth veteran and less experienced players.
One aspect of Chandelure that contributes to its offensive nature is its passive ability,Infiltrator.Following an attack that you land on an enemy, this ability will allow your next attack to partially ignore the Special Defense of any opposing Pokemon.
Another reason why Chandelure proves to be an easy Pokemon to pick up and play with is its versatility on the battlefield. This Pokemon can find success when playing ineither of the three lanes on the battlefield,Top, Center, and Bottom.
Like with other Pokemon in the game, you will want to focus on rapidlyknocking out wild Pokemon and gaining XPwhen opting for the central lane, resulting in you being an offensive carry for your team.
Alternatively, when opting for either the Top or Bottom lanes, make sure you’reusing your offensive abilities to assist your alliesin winning larger, important team fights.
Overall,Chandelure is a great pick if you’re looking to play an attacking rolewhile still being able to distance yourself from the opposition. With powerful ranged attacks, this Pokemon can deal massive amounts of damage from afar while bulkier ally Pokemon take on the majority of opposing attacks.
Chandelure: Overheat Build
This build takes full advantage of Chandelure’s offensive capabilities. Combining moves that prove todeal the most possible damage,use this build to rapidly deal damage and knock out opposing Pokemon, especially during large team fights.
Move Selection
For this build, make sure to select the moveOverheat,as this will be used to deal the majority of your damage. This attack fires three separate ranged attacks in an area of effect, applying a burn effect to those that are hit with it.
Landing any of these attacks will build up Chandelure’sHeat Energy,allowing you to accumulate a maximum of three Heat Energies. Following your initial three attacks of Overheat, you’re able to send out a final blast, increasing in damage with each Heat Energy possessed.
Pair this withImprison,a move used to stun opponents and leave them unable to act. Of the Pokemon hit by this move, one Pokemon will be stunned and unable to use any of their moves for a short duration.
The upgraded version of Imprison allows you tostun multiple enemiesif they are hit with this attack.
This also applies the debuff to multiple Pokemon, disallowing them from using any of their moves.
Use this move to leave your opponents vulnerable, giving you a great opportunity to deal massive damage withOverheat. This combo proves to be deadly, allowing you to quickly knock out different enemy Pokemon.
Held Items
For this build, you’ll want to use different Held Items thatimprove your Special Attack stats,maximizing your overall damage output when playing as Chandelure.
This includes Held Items like theSlick Spoon, Wise Glasses, andChoice Specs, all contributing to Chandelure’s offensive abilities on the battlefield.
Battle Item
With Chandelure lacking mobility or attacks that allow this Pokemon to escape, you’ll want to use a Battle Item that helps make up for this shortcoming.
This includes either theX-SpeedorEject ButtonBattle Items, allowing you to rapidly disengage from battle when necessary.

Chandelure: Flamethrower Build
This build takes advantage of Chandelure’s ability todamage opponents from a distance.Using various ranged attacks, use this build to significantly damage your opponents while still remaining a safe distance away from them.
Start by pickingFlamethroweras your main attacking move, dealing damage and burning opponents in a straight line. If you hit an enemy with the furthest point of this line, shown as a circular area, it willsignificantly reduce the cooldown of this attack.
Pair this withPoltergeist,creating a square-shaped area that decreases the movement speed of all opponents that are inside of it. Additionally, there will be floating furniture scattered throughout this area, damaging any enemies that run into them.
Use these two attacks to quickly deal damage to opponents from asafe distance.
If an enemy gets too close or far away, use Poltergeist to slow them down, allowing you to either disengage or approach them safely.
Although this build uses a slightly different play style, similar Held Items are recommended when playing as Chandelure. This includes different Held Items that increase your overall Special Attack stats, like theSlick SpoonandWise Glasses.
Alternatively, you can useEnergy Amplifieras a third Held Item, providing you with additional damage when using your Unite Move and increasing its overall effectiveness.
Again, you’ll want to choose a Battle Item that helps make up for Chandelure’s lack of mobility, allowing you to quickly retreat or approach opposing Pokemon on the battlefield.
For this reason, it’s recommended that you equip either theEject ButtonorX-SpeedBattle Items with this build.
