As you escape the city of Demacia, you’ll find yourself fighting against powerful enemies inThe Mageseeker: A League Of Legends Story. Such enemies include boss fights, so when you first encounter the Polar Lizard, you may find the fight difficult to win. After all, most of your attacks don’t work, so you must strategize accordingly.

Instead of hoping the fight works out and attacking the enemy non-stop, you’ll want to utilize some strategies. This matters even more if you play on the hardest difficulty, so spend time looking into the boss, understand its moves, and learn how to win the fight.
Preparing For The Fight
you’re able to’t do much to prepare for this fight since you don’t unlock some abilities until later. However, you have acheckpointbefore the boss, restoring your potions.
Ensure youdon’t run off to other areassince you could take damage and put yourself at a disadvantage before the fight. Instead, go immediately north, and you’ll have all three heals ready for the fight. You may not need the potions as much during the first part, but you’ll need them during the boss’s second appearance.
If you want to play it safe,explore the other areas before you run past a checkpoint, so you won’t risk losing health before you start the battle.
The First Polar Lizard Encounter
You won’t have to defeat the Polar Lizard when encountering him first. You must landthree fire attacks on himto get past the fight. You should follow a few steps to get through this battle.
Additional Tips
Wait out his attacks.
Yourphysical attacks will deal negligible damage, so you shouldn’t bother attacking the Polar Lizard. Instead, focus on its attacks and learn its patterns to dodge them.
Hijack the fire toads and defeat them.
As soon as the fire toads appear, immediatelysteal their magic and defeat them with physical attacks. The Polar Lizard should appear shortly.
Use the hijacked spell on the Polar Lizard.
This fire spell willcreate an area on the ground, so use it near the Polar Lizard or wait for it to perform its jump attack. Then, use it on the ground, dash out of the way, and let the Polar Lizard take damage.
You must perform a few of these cycles until a cutscene activates. Once the cutscene plays out, you’ll get a new path and can continue the mission.
Once you get near the end of the mission, you’ll encounter the Polar Lizard again.
The Second Polar Lizard Encounter
When the Polar Lizard arrives, it’ll havethe same health from the last fight. This fight has two phases you must go through: the survival phase and the fighting phase.
The survival phase has youdodging the Polar Lizard’s attacksrather than fighting back. Your light and heavy attacks won’t deal enough damage, so you don’t want to bother attacking. Instead, keep avoiding its moves until a cutscene plays, which willunlock your magic. Up to this point, you could only cast magic by hijacking it, but you can now use mana to launch spells at the boss.
If you want to deal more damage during this fight to make the next phase easier, you canhijack the Polar Lizard’s magic. It’ll shoot an icicle that travels across the ground while homing onto the enemy. Instead of physical attacks, use this one as it comes off cooldown.
Now that you have magic, you cancast fire spells to deal additional damageto the enemy, which marks the start of the fighting phase. Once you reach this one, you’ll follow a few crucial steps to help you defeat the boss.
How It Works
Cast your fire spell.
You’ll use your fire spell, which shoots a fireball at the boss. You’lluse all the mana you haveto cast the spell.
Use physical attacks.
To restore your mana, you must land physical attacks on the enemy. Since you won’t deal much damage with your attacks anyway, you shouldn’t risk the slower heavy attacks.Land the light attacksuntil you have full mana.
Back off.
Many of the Polar Lizard’s powerful attacks are close range, so as soon as you get the mana, back off to the edges of the screen.
You must rinse and repeat this strategy until you eliminate the enemy’s health. Depending on your difficulty setting and other parameters, it can taketen or so magic attacksto defeat the boss. You can also use the hijack spell to deal additional damage between your mana restoration.
The Polar Lizard’s Attacks
If you want to defeat this boss, you must learn its attacks to properly dodge them and survive, so take a moment to remember the moves and avoid them.
How To Avoid It
Tail Whip
Polar Lizard pauses momentarily, has a red circle appear on the ground, and swings its tail around itself.
Eitherrun away from the bossor dash in the opposite direction.
Leap Attack
Polar Lizard hops into the air andlands at a new location, dealing damage to the area.
Wait for the enemy to leap, then watch for the red circle on the ground. Run away from it or dash out of the middle if you find yourself in the wrong spot.
Ice Spike
Polar Lizard drops an ice spike from the sky, dealing damage below it.
Watch for the ice spiketo appear, and press the dash button to avoid damage.
Ground Spike
Polar Lizard activates an ice spike that stays on the ground andtravels to the edge of the screen.
Run perpendicular to the attack in either direction. If the boss shoots the spike north or south, you should run east or west and vice versa.
The Polar Lizard may add to its attacks as you get farther into the fight. For example, it may shoot outmultiple ground spikes at once, meaning you’ll need to watch all of them to ensure you don’t dash into any of them.
Additional Tips To Defeat The Polar Lizard
Now that you understand what you should expect from the fight, you can use some additional tips to make it easier for you to win.
Keep Moving
Constantly move around the stageand stay away from the boss.
Most of your damage will come from your magic, so you should avoid the boss as much as possible. Otherwise, you’ll take unnecessary damage.
Use your potions if youdrop below 50% health.
Don’t Attack More Than Necessary
Once your mana refills, immediately stop using physical attacks.
Physical attacks do practically no damage, but they’re still useful when restoring your mana. It should only take a light combo to fill it back up, so go up to the boss,land the hits, and back off.
Watch For Openings
Wait for the right moment to attack.
Instead of rushing in to attack the boss when you run out of mana, you shouldwait for it to use its tail whip attack. That attack has the highest odds of hitting you during the fight, and the Polar Lizard won’t use it in quick succession.
Utilize Your Chain
Use your chain to pull yourself close to the boss.
Since it can take a bit to get back to the boss if you stay near the screen’s edge, use your chains to pull yourself to it. Doing so will save you some time and let youtake advantage of the window between attacks.
