Despite the difficulty, however, his fight is exciting - from its challenging arena to the variance in attacks to the excellently composed music. It’s the kind of fight that will keep you on your toes, and it’s the perfect midpoint boss for a game like Bayonetta Origins. Few encounters are quite like it, and the Jabberwock certainly lives up to its name.
First Encounter
You first encounter the Jabberwock at theend of theWindy Knot in Chapter Six.
The Jabberwock is hinted at throughout your exploration through the roars and the numerous claw marks you’ll find on the trees. When you finally fight it, you’re already looking forward to a boss fight.

You’re not supposed to win this fight. Its armor makes it invincible for now, so the only thing you’re able to do islet it defeat you.
Second Encounter
Near the end of Wyvern Falls andduring Chapter Seven, you’ll encounter the Jabberwock againafter breaking the second dam.
You can deal some damage this timeby using Thorn Vice when prompted.Restraining it with Thorn Vice and attacking it will break its armor.

Just when you think you have an opening, the Jabberwock will fleeand end this instance of combat prematurely. However, it won’t be far. you’re able to chase it down andfight it for real after breaking the third dam.
Cheshire
The Jabberwock is atanky and highly-mobile bossthat will require a lot of patience.
Itpunishes greedy playerswho ignore its cues or overstay their welcome in its personal space.

It has no shortage of attacks in its arsenal, but they thankfully don’t chain, so you’re able to rest assured thatits fight is very much a give-and-take. For each attack it makes, you can respond in kind with your own.
Cereza can’t do much in this fight, but she’s incrediblyuseful for moving Cheshire aroundthe battlefield (especially as the arena changes). As such, you should invest in skills likeInfernal Bondto quickly recharge Cheshire’s Magic andCheshire Reflectto punish the Jabberwock with its own projectiles.

Cheshire’sStone Masteryshould be invested in as well to further the amount of armor break you can do in a limited amount of time.Claws And Fangsis very useful here, andRocket Returnplays very nicely with a strategy that calls for often returning to Hug Mode.
Full Attack List
Laserbeam
Jabberwock charges a massive laser beam that it fires in one straight line. This is telegraphed by a vivid blue line in front of it.
Magic Bombs
Releasing several green bombs, they will land on the ground in areas highlighted by green circles and then explode on impact.
360 Spin
Jabberwock quickly spins in a full circle twice, using its tail in the spin to attack. Has a large amount of range and almost always triggers after multiple melee attacks.
Double Tail Strike
Turning around, the Jabberwock will sweep twice - back and forth - with its tail.
Flying Beam
Flying into the air, Jabberwock fires a large laserbeam across the arena. This beam starts at the ground almost beneath it and then quickly moves across in a straight line before ending in the air above it.
Moving Flying Beam
Jabberwock flies in the air, but instead of staying still, the Jabberwock fires a beam at the ground and flies forward simultaneously.
Forward Charge
Jabberwock flashes green and then does a quick charge forward on the ground. It bulldozes through anything in the way. If no damage is dealt by the end of the charge, it always ends in an upward claw sweep.
Biting Charge
Jabberwock quickly charges forward on the ground while biting to either side of its head.
Wind Gust
Jabberwock flies in the air and causes a strong wind to knock back all opponents in the arena a large distance. Deals no damage.
Wing Sweep
The Jabberwock sweeps a wing (typically, its left) in the area in front of it.
Charging Roar
The Jabberwock charges an ultimate attack. This build up takes a long time and comes with a bright flash of green light alongside the cue to use Thorn Vice. If not restrained, it releases a powerful green aura with a roar that stretches the arena and deals a large amount of damage.
Phase One is the simplest part of this fight.
You’ll want to:
With these strategies in mind, dodge its long list of attacksandkeep Cereza out of the line of fire. Its damage is quite high, so you can only afford to get hit a few times before you’re either dead or chugging Healing Tonics.
Stone Cheshirecan tank most of the blows, so have himget up close and personalwith the Jabberwock until his Magic Gauge is depleted. In Hug Mode, you can recharge and send him back out when you’re ready to wash, rinse, and repeat until you reach Phase Two at around 70 percent of his health.

All Phase One Attacks
All attacks within Phase One are carried over to Phase Two. (Reference the above table.)
Dispersed Magic
The Jabberwock flies into the air, performs a large circle maneuver, and fires one giant green ball at the ground beneath it. On impact, that ball splits into several that fan out in all directions and cross the entire arena.
Front Flip Slam
While in the air, the Jabberwock performs a front flip and then slams on the ground beneath it. After making an impact, the Jabberwock typically bounces back into the air and then lands.
Strong Downward Slash
Jabberwock raises its left wing above its head, pauses, and then slams its claw into the space directly in front of it.
Thefloor is now water, and each of your bobbing platforms can go under and severely limit your mobility.

The Jabberwock’sattack list has only increased, and all of itsattacks from Phase One also carry overinto this phase as well. These attacks and wherever it lands will cause theaffected platforms to sinkbeneath the water. If Cereza or Cheshire step into these sections, their speed will be heavily reduced.
Stone Cheshire can block some of the projectiles from Cereza, soplacing him in front of herat all times will be a good strategy.

Additionally, his Stone Form is naturally slow, and the Jabberwock’s high mobility can make it difficult for Cheshire to keep up in this arena. Therefore, abusing Hug Cheshireand having Cereza carry him to areas where he can fight the Jabberwock will take away a lot of the difficulty in movement. It will also keep his Magic Gauge high throughout the fight.
Although most attacks are randomly chosen from the pool, there does appear to bea high percentage chance that a Dispersed Magic attack will be followed by a Charging Roar. Therefore, once the Dispersed Magic Attack comes, you should dash toward the Jabberwock with Cereza to perform a Thorn Vice.
Continue damaging the Jabberwock until it reaches itslast third of healthin order to trigger the next phase.
All Previous Phase Attacks
All attacks within Phase One are carried over to Phase Two. Reference the above table.
Ultimate Beam
The Jabberwock will fly into the air, charge for several seconds, and then fire a massive radius beam across the entire arena. Always preceded by a cutscene, several thick, red lines, and the emergence of two pillars. First time doesn’t move. Second time slowly rotates around the pillars.
The only difference between the second and third phases is that the third is preceded by a cutscene and amassive AOE attack.
This attack,if not avoided, will always result in a death.
Thankfully, you have time torun over behind a pillarbefore the attack. Wait for it to end, and don’t worry about the pillar. It will only break once the attack ends.
After the beam dissipates, the fight carries as if it were in Phase Two until the last tenth of the health bar, sotreat this section as if it were still the previous phase.
It’ll charge its ultimate beam at the last ten percent again, but this one will move. You’ll need toslowly move Cereza around her pillarto avoid being caught off-guard by this attack. Afterward, you may return to combat as if it were Phase Two again.
Missiles
Jabberwock will summon a barrage of missiles near wherever Cereza is positioned. They are illuminated by an orange and red glow before rocketing toward Cereza. They do have a slight curve that follows Cereza.
This portion of the fight is less combat-heavy but will still require you to keep on your toes.
The Jabberwock might not be attacking you anymore, but it still willoccasionally summon missilesthat you will have to dodge. These missiles start appearing after you climb the first pillar, grow the flowers on the cage above, and descend the ladder.
Run across the platformswhile dodging these attacks until you reach the second ladder. Dodge one more time for the missiles to disappear before climbing the ladder.
After you grow this portion of flowers at the top, you’ll be brought into a button-mashing cutscene where you can finally silence the tongue of the Jabberwock with a snicker-snack of your R button.
