Forspokenhas a good amount to offer in its open world, with some of the hardest challenges you’re able to face coming in the form of optional boss fights. The four abominations are scattered across the world and offer useful rewards, along with a genuine challenge.

Each of the abominations will have powers correlating to one of the four main elements. Amphicynodon, Viserion’s abomination, has an affinity for Earth, creating massive AOE explosions as its form of dealing massive damage to Frey. You must be up to the task if you want to defeat this boss, and here’s everything you need to know.
Where To Find Amphicynodon
This is an abomination that can be pretty easy to miss when you are going around exploring the world.
You will want to look in thesouthern area of Viserionto findAmphicynodon.
The best place to fast-travel to is theSouthern Plateau Refuge. If you head towards the east, you will find a river to follow that will lead you toThe Boneyard, which is the boss fight area.
There are other Amphicynodon in theLocked Labyrinthsections of the game, but this guide will focus on the one that can be found in theOverworld.
Amphicynodon Boss Fight
Amphicynodon isincredibly aggressiveand makes it hard for you to perform long-range attacks. This means that for most of the fight, you will have tostay up close and personalwith the abomination, which doesn’t make things all that much easier.
What does make this fight a little more manageable is to know that Amphicynodon is veryresistant to Frey’s Purple Magicand that it is especiallyweak against Sila’s Red Magic. So, of course, focus as much as you can on using attacks involving Sila’s Red magic and stay away from all of Frey’s magic as it will do very little in this fight.
One of the main things to focus on throughout the fight is whether Frey haslowered defences- shown by apurple shieldclose to her health bar. A lot of Amphicynodon’s attacks will lower the defences, so make sure to useAegisto remove this debuff and make it so that you can survive a little more effectively.
Amphicynodon Moveset
As soon as the fight starts, Amphicynodon will do amassive golden explosion, so ensure you do not rush straight into the fight as you will immediately take an overwhelming amount of damage. This attack is also done throughout the fight but is indicated with a largered crosswhich gives you a good amount of time to run away from the abomination.
Other than the first AOE, the moves to look out for in the first stage of this boss fight are theleaping attacks, which can be bothblockable and piercing, making it safest to justuse flow and evade, which is the same for theground slam attackthat sends a line of rock to shoot up from the ground.
At around half health, Amphicynodon will start to charge for another AOE. This will cause the ground to shinea golden light with the explosion shortly following. This has a decent build-up, giving you a lot of time to back off and even an opportunity toget in some ranged attackswhile you have the brief moment where Amphicynodon isn’t attacking you directly.
Other than some ordinary swipes and basic attacks,the only other move is another AOE, which is done by the other abominations, towards the end of the fight.
Thisshrieking attackwill have Amphicynodon pull in the air around them and let off anexplosion of energywhich can be devastating, with how quickly it can happen, butlike the other AOE, they simply back off and wait to move back into the fight.
As with the other abominations, your reward isnails.
For beating Amphicynodon, you get the nails -Honor.
These will boost your overall damage based on the amount ofPrav-Specific spellsthat you have learned. It will also boost yourPrav spell damage by 5%.
