Though it’s not known for being one of the more difficult guardians you encounter as you play throughPersona 3 Portable, there’s still a bit of tact and pre-planning you’ll need to get through the fight with Phantom King. Since P3P’s Phantom King guardian doesn’t have traditional affinities, you’ll need to be smart about all aspects of this fight.

But with the right team combination and resistances in your stock of Personas, the battle against Phantom King should be a breeze. For help taking down the Phantom King guardian in Persona 3 Portable, the guide below has everything you’ll need.
Recommended Party
For this battle, we suggest bringingKen, Junpei, and Yukari.
Withtwo light insta-kill moves, there’s plenty of threat from the Phantom King. However,Ken is immune to light magic, protecting at least one of your party members.

We still recommendbringing a few Homunculiif you may, though, for party members who don’t have this immunity.
Since Phantom King takes slightly higher damage from slash attacks,Junpeiwill likely be your primary striker here.

Not only ishis default attack a slash attack, but he also learnsHigh CounteratLv. 58to keep him safer from physical harm, but he can also learnBrave Blade(which dealssevereslash damage) atLv. 65.
Finally,Yukariwill again take the role ofhealerfor this fight.
Recommended Level And Personas
Since Phantom King is Lv. 57, we recommend being aroundLv. 60during this fight.
As for which Personas you should bring, focus onPersonas that resist light magic.Like before, the battle isover if your MC dies, so you’ll need to focus on keeping them protected with this resistance.

DaisoujouorThroneare both good choices for this exact resistance. Pair that with your MC doing slash damage with their standard attack, and you’ll be safe in the fight ahead.

Phantom King Battle Strategy
Most of the strategy for the battle against the Phantom King comes fromyour defensive decisions.
Phantom King focuses a lot onlight skills, but having both Ken and a Persona on your MC that blocks light removes two of its targets.
However, you may also be at the point in the game whereyour teammates might survive an otherwise-fatal attackwith one HP. This will also come in handy but seems to happen far less with insta-kill attacks.
Ken and Yukariare bothhealersin this fight, withoffenseleft toJunpeiand your MC. WIth its additional damage from slash attacks, Phantom King should go down before you know it.
