We keep our focus on the combat, but this guide may still contain slight spoilers for Persona 3 Portable.

Magical Magus Battle Setup
You’ll encounter the Magical Magus guardian shadows on98Fofthe Yabbashah blockof Tartarus.
Recommended Party
With the Magical Magus weak to fire, bothJunpeiandKoromaruare good choices for this fight.
In addition to their Agi moves, Junpei knows great buff skills, while Koro-chan willlearn MaragionatLv. 38.If you can grind him to that point before the battle, you’ll have a multi-target fire move that deals medium damage at your disposal.

Round out the party withMitsuru, who not only knows decenthealingmagic, but who has aresistance to iceas well.
Possibly one of Mitsuru’s best moves for this battle, though, will beTentarafoo, which mayinflict panicon all enemies. The Magical Magus shadows areincrediblysusceptible to panic, so use the exploit where possible.

Recommended Level And Personas
With P3P’s Magical Magus guardians entering the fight atLv. 38, we’d recommend being aroundLv. 35yourself before attempting the fight.
A helpful combination to have in your roster is a Persona todeal fire damage, as well as oneimmune to ice attacks. We went withFlaurosandSarasvati.

Flauros innately knowsMaragi whichcan target the Magus’ fire weakness. In the event that they cast Makarakarn, use Sarasvati’sice immunitytocast ice magic without worryingabout the damage bouncing back tobreak down the barrier quicker.

Magical Magus Battle Strategy
For the most part, as long as you’re able to fend off the Magus’ high magic stat, the fight ought to go fairly quick.
The biggest thing to keep your eyes on as the Magical Magus shadows attack isbeing prepared against Mind Charge. Since this preemptive move doubles the damage of the next magic attack, and the shadows already have a high magic stat, any move boosted by Mind Charge isdefinitelygoing to hurt.
When the Magus shadows cast Mind Charge, you can use the time toheal, guard, or buffthe team against the coming attack.
However, equippingSarasvatiwillcancel ice damagedone to the protagonist, regardless of how boosted the incoming ice attack is.
Be sure toprevent the team from attackingif the Magus shadows haveMakarakarnup. With the next magic attacks guaranteed to reflect back at the team, save your SP and break it down with one ofSarasvati or Mitsuru’s ice attacks.
The fastest way to actually deal damage to the Magical Magus guardians is byusing fire movesas your bread and butter.Koromaru and Junpei will likely carry the fightbecause of this, but their damage output is good enough to do so.
If you have the time to castTentarafoo, definitely take it – it’s not often that guardian shadows have such a weakness against an affinity, so use the opportunity while you can.
Not only will everyone bemore likely to land critical hits(which knock down the enemy and offer you another attack), but you’ll have an extra layer of safety between you and the high magic stat Mabufu and Bufudyne moves, if they’reunable to use magic.
Keep your focus onmulti-target fire movesto damage the Magical Magus shadows, and you’ll finish the fight with ease!
