The story of Temenos, the cleric inquisitor ofOctopath Traveler 2, heavily involves intrigue, conspiracy, and downright corruption within the Church of the Sacred Flame. Over the past few chapters, he’s experienced frustrations and loss, and this final chapter proves to be a chance to right some wrongs.

As with all of the final chapters in the eight storylines you can pursue in this game, the recommended level is 45 - it can be quite useful to be a little higher than that, though, as the challenges within are very tough, proving tough for even characters in the late 50s.

Town Phase: Nameless Village

The final stop on Temenos’s journey is theNameless Village, a settlement of Beastlings on the northern side of Toto’haha Island. To get there, you’ll need to take a canoe trip to the north of theSouthern Nameless Village Traverse.

The first thing Temenos must do is solve the puzzle of theWandering Wood. If you head there immediately and try to treat the forest like any other RPG’s magical forest, as if it has a very specific solution, you will fail. Instead, you need to find a certain NPC in the Nameless Village.

Octopath Traveler 2 -Temenos Guiding Shirutto in Nameless Village

Shirluttocan be located on the eastern side of the village. Use Temenos’s Path Action toGuide him. Don’t worry about the NPC you’re currently guiding, if any, they will be returned to you as soon as Shirlutto leaves.

With Shirlutto in tow, head north from the Nameless Village into Wandering Wood. After a short cutscene, Shirlutto will leave, and you’ll be on the other side of the trial. With that done, you can take on the dungeon properly.

Octopath Traveler 2 -Heading to Wandering Wood

Dungeon Phase: Wandering Wood

Very early on the path through this dungeon, you’ll come to afork in the road with a slight stair to the right. Take theleft pathfirst to get anAntique Ceremonial Mask. This is a very nice piece of equipment for characters who require lots of SP-hungry skills, as it has the added effect of recovering SP after the wearer takes any action.

Backtrack and take the path to the right now. When you come to a set of stairs heading to the south, ignore them to find a chest containing anInspiriting Plum (M)before taking them.

Octopath Traveler 2 - Making way through Wandering Wood

A little while later, you’ll be in a wide-open area with multiple treasures to find. First, head to theback of the areato find some stairs that lead to a red chest on a ledge. This contains28,000 leaves. Head back down the stairs and this time, head to the front of the area and all the way to the right. Here, you’ll find a regular chest with aHealing Grape Bunchinside.

North from this chest is another chest up a flight of stairs that has aLight Soulstone (L)inside. Further yet north from this is a very long flight of stairs. At the top, you’ll witness another scene withShirlutto. Speak to him after the cutscene to getthree Superior Jerkyas a reward for clearing the trial. When you’re ready, proceed to the next area.

Octopath Traveler 2 - Locating a Chest in Wandering Wood

Dungeon Phase: Rifted Rock

This dungeon is very linear for the most part. Until you reach the back of the cave, where you’ll spytwo holes through which light shines, there are no detours to take. When you do reach that area, you’ll find that you canenter the hole on the right and walk behind the cave wallto the hole on the left, where you’ll find aHallowed Rodin a red chest.

The Hallowed Rodincreases the damage dealt by Light-elemental attacks. This is fantastic for Temenos, even if you have Staves with slightly higher elemental attack stats.

Octopath Traveler 2 - Temenos final cave

Continue up the stairs to the left of the holes and then take the short path down the ladders to the south to find a chest that contains aVoid Amulet. This severely reduces Dark damage and is brilliant for many late-game bosses. Give this to your least defensive characters.

Press on, climbing the stairs until you reach a cutscene with the Sacred Guard knights from an earlier cutscene. After the scenes, heal up, save your game, and proceed to face this chapter’s boss.

Octopath Traveler 2 - Kaldena Boss Fight

100,000

Kaldena of Night

Swords, Daggers, Axes, Fire, Light

Kaldena is a tough opponent from the very beginning of the fight. Her attacks are quite brutal and will require some heavy healing - for this reason, it can actually be beneficial todouble up on Clericshere to amp up your healing power! She hasboth physical and elemental attacks, so bringing methods to debuff both stats is a good strategy for survival - requiring less healing is a great way to deal with this battle, as Temenos (and a second Cleric) can focus on Breaking Kaldena using the efficientMystic Staff skill.

One of Kaldena’s nastiest tricks isHollowed Sword, which will deal a large amount of damage while alsoremoving some BPfrom the target. Having aMerchantaround to compensate for this is a good idea.

Octopath Traveler 2 - Kaldena using Blinding Shock

Relying on elemental attacks for your big damage might be a trap in this fight - Kaldena hasan attack that willreduce both elemental attackandelemental defensefor three turns in a row. This can be very annoying to deal with, but more than anything, make sure that character gets healed up to prevent getting destroyed by follow-up elemental attacks.

When you get the message that Kaldena is concentrating the waves, it’s a sign that she’s charging her ultimate attack. As always, try toBreak her as soon as possiblewhen she does this. As mentioned, Cleric’sMystic Staffis great for this, as is anAdvanced Magic/Alephan’s Wisdom-boosted Ice spell from a Scholar. If Kaldena is able to reach her next turn without being Broken, she’ll useBlinding Shock, which deals a very large amount of damage to the entire party.

Octopath Traveler 2 - Kaldena of Night transformation

AWarriorusingIncitepaired withVengeful Bladewill be useful in this fight. Kaldena likes to use her single-target skills at least once per turn, and a Warrior is less likely to worry about having to cope with a reduced elemental attack while also having enough HP to deal with the reduced elemental defense.

In both phases of this fight, Kaldena loves to inflict theBlind status ailmenton your party. Having Herbs of Light on hand or Castti’s ability to heal the entire party at once will be very useful.

Octopath Traveler 2 - Kaldena of Night Depths of Hell attack

Once you’ve dealt with around 40,000 of Kaldena’s HP, she will enter asecond phaseafter trying to use the power of Shadow. In this new phase,Kaldena of Nightshuffles her weaknesses around and gains access to new attacks. In addition, Kaldena will use an aura that severelydecreases the potency of your healing skills. You’ll need to play hyper-aggressively in this stage of the fight, as your healing may struggle to keep up with the boss’s damage output.

Breaking Kaldena of Nightwill momentarily lift the healing-reducing aura, but it will come back when she is unbroken.

When even lower on health, Kaldena willbuff herself, giving herthree actions per turn. This is when the fight really requires you to play smart and do everything you can to Break her. Enable your most potent Breakers with BP-raising moves and do all you can to keep Blind and Terror at bay. With luck and good strategy, you’ll come out on top.

With Kaldena beaten, Temenos’s story is complete. Temenos will learn his second EX Skill,Heavenly Shine, which is a potent Light spell.
