Izanami And Izanami-No-Okami Battle Strategy
First Phase: Izanami
The beginning of this final fight in Persona 4 Golden is straightforward enough - so much so that it almost seems too easy at first.
Don’t be lured into this false sense of security -conserve your SP as much as possiblein this phase of the fight, as it’s only the first.
Attack Izanami withheavy elemental magicto chip away at her HP, being mindful of her own slew of elemental damage as well. Herstatus ailmentinfliction may prove to be a nuisance, but so long as Yukiko hasSalvationtorestore HP and cure all ailments, you should be in good shape.
Helelalso knows Salvation if you’ve brought it to the fight.
This phase shouldn’t take too long, but once you get Izanami down to a low enough HP,stop attacking when you’re told that Izanami is impossible to hit.
This is the flag forthe second phase beginningin a turn or two, after Izanami chats to you some more. Until the second phase begins, youcan no longer hurt herfor this phase.
Use the time toheal the partyandreplenish everyone’s SP, since you’ll need it far more in the slog of the second part of this fight.Guardif you’ve got everyone in top shape, and wait for the next phase to begin.
This is thefinal battle in P4G, so don’t hesitate touse your HP and SP-replenishing items liberallyduring the fight.
Because of this, you may be wise tosave SP for damage-dealing moves and use items to healunless necessary (or for sake of curing ailments in addition to restoring HP)
Second Phase: Izanami-No-Okami
There are a few things to keep in mind as the battle shifts to the second stage:Izanami-no-Okami drains electric magic, and she nowattacks twice per turn.
Trumpeteris somewhat invaluable during this stage of the fight for itsDebilitateskill, which severelylimits Izanami-no-Okami’s damage output, as well asmakes damage inflicted on her more effective.
Even if she does useDekundato cancel your Debilitate, she’ll have towaste one of her turns doing so, so it’s still a viable strategy.
For a boss with this much strength and so many instant death skills on hand, you’ll want tomitigate the damage you takeas much as possible through Debilitate orany debuff skillsyour party has.
Healing is a critical part of this fight, as Izanami-no-Okami still has a massive damage output even when debuffed, especially if you’re attempting the fight with a lower player level.
We found it effective touse full party healing skills and items as often as possible.None of your items carry over into NG+, so an HP top-off for everyone never hurts!
Not only is the elemental damage a massive hazard for the team, but Izanami-no-Okami is much more hellbent oninflicting ailments onto the Investigation Team.
This can provelethalin this stage of the fight, as Izanami-no-Okami can and regularly will useSummons to Yomiwhile the team is inflicted with an ailment toinstantly killevery foeafflicted with an ailment.
Yu can dodge this withHelelactive when you’re not using Debilitate to cash in on theInsta-Healskill that allows him torecover from any ailment other than Down or KO on his next turn.
The rest of the team is still at risk of being killed with Summons to Yomi at this stage, but as always, the fight isn’t over for your team until Yu is knocked out, even if he’s the only one left standing.
At this stage, it’scritical to cure ailments as soon as possible, as you won’t know when Summons to Yomi is coming. If anyone is afflicted with an ailment, assume they’re at risk.
Additionally, healingis as important as ever, especially with Izanami-no-Okami knowing bothHell’s JudgmentandGalgalim Eyesto massively reduce your HP in a single move.
As long as the team is in good shape, keepbuffing the team as you debuff Izanami-no-Okamito make them more powerful while dampening her power, and lay into her withany elemental damage except electricto finish the fight in good time.
Final Stage: Thousand Curses
You’ll know the fight has been won when Izanami-no-Okami reaches a critically low HP and begins to castThousand Curses.
This looks dire, but it means you’ve won the fight! Simplywatch through the cinematicsto seehow Yu will handlethis seemingly-unbeatable adversary.
After the battle has been won, congratulations - you’veofficially beaten Persona 4 Golden!
