How To Beat Nazgul Helm Hammerhand - Phase One

You’ll begin the fight from the top of your Fortress, butyou’ll want to immediately jump down to him.As you do, there will be several explosive barrels near him thatyou should try and pop as you’re falling. Detonating these barrels will clear out a significant portion of Ghuls and orcs. During the first phase, Helm will usea ranged attack, several melee strikes, and an AoE that summons more enemies. Like Suladan, he will use a ranged grab attack to pull you close.

Like with other Nazgul, Helm Hammerhand is particularly susceptible to the Shadow Strike Execution.

His massive hammer hits cannot be parried, so you’ll have toalways dodge out of the way of them. Keep an eye out for the dodge prompt above his head, and his strikes won’t give you much trouble.Use ranged attacks and Shadow Striketo chip away at him, you can also build up your Execution gauge and whack him with a few of those.

After you’ve done some damage, one of Helm’s Drakes will appear and start blasting fire at you. It’s in your best interest totry and kill the dragons as soon as possible.Shoot them while they fly to bring them down. They willusually die in one hit to an Execution,so you should build your gauge up by killing Ghuls and taking some potshots at Helm.

As you approach him,a Graug will break through the wall on your right. For the most part,it will ignore you, so let it pass.Helm Hammerhand will come to you, and he could position himself in front of an explosive barrel.Strike this for decent damage if you can, otherwise try and bait him to it.

Now you’ll have to deal with hismelee attacks mostly, but he will summon a few enemies to help out. Dodge when you need to, hit him a few times, and back off before he counterattacks.

Dealing With The Drakes

There will be three to four Drakes in this fight, all of which will stay in the air and blast you with fire, like winged trebuchets. The best way to deal with them is toshoot them with a fully charged Elf Shot when they fly over breathing fire. Use Focus to slow time to make the shot. This will bring them crashing down, and you can wail on them until they’re dead. Get a few hits in first, and then bop them with an Execution to finish them off.

You’ll know if the Drake targets you because a red ring AoE marker will appeararound your locations. Roll out of it to avoid the attack. When the Drakes fly flow, they will breathe fire down on you. You’ll have totake extra care to spot the dodge promptfor these because they will most likely be at the edge of your screen.

Don’t ignore the Drakes because they will quickly overwhelm you. More will spawn, but you should kill them as soon as possible.

Eltariel will do a good job of keeping Helm busy while you deal with the artillery.

If you see a Drake land, you should try andposition yourself behind it to avoid its fire attacks. They will swipe you with their tail, but you may dodge out of the way of this. If Helm pulls you out of position with his ranged grab attacks, just roll away and get back to the Drake.

Helm will use the same attacks as before.Dodge out of the way of his hammer swings, get in a few hits, and be prepared to dodge away if he counters or a Drake fires at you. As ever, keep an eye out for his multi-hit melee swings.Kill the drakes and focus on Helm. He might summon more Ghuls and Drakes, but he won’t throw any more surprises at you.

With the Drakes thinned, you will have a breather to deal damage to Helm. If Eltariel has been doing well, she will have done a ton of damage already. You only need to get him to where he has a quarter of HP left, and then you can Banish him.
