In many ways, Throné’s journey has been a wildly successful one - she had to visit both sides of the world to track down the leaders of the Blacksnakes, and she managed to dispatch them with aplomb. Without Mother or Father, Throné is only one step away from freedom.

Dungeon Phase: Lostseed Castle

As with many other final dungeons, Lostseed Castle is a bit more complex than the usual dungeons you’ve encountered up to now. It’s quite long, so don’t be afraid to head back to Lostseed to heal up while you’re hunting for treasure.

Claude is a very tricky boss, and we mean that literally - he will employ a number of very nasty tricks to slow you down or disrupt your strategies, all while having a respectable damage output. His first trick is toseal your Primary Job abilities, so verify you have a good range ofSecondary Jobsto be able to target his weaknesses.

You’ll gain access to your Primary Job skills once you Break Claude once, so having access to some efficient skills is very useful. TheDouble Axewould be great for whittling down his Break Points with its extra hits with normal attacks, as wouldThief’s HP ThiefandCleric’s Mystic Staff.

Octopath Traveler 2 - Claude Boss Fight

At this stage of the fight, Claude’s most dangerous skill isEndurance Test, which deals a ton of damage to the entire party. If you can, definitelytry to reduce Claude’s physical attackto stop this tearing through your party.

After you’ve Broken Claude once and reduced his HP a fair amount, he willuse an ability that transforms him into a new enemy, thePhantom Snake (Man)- who looks like Pirro, naturally. He’sweak to Swords, so having a Warrior around to abuse Aggressive Slash is a good idea. This form of the boss has two annoying attacks - aninstant-kill attackand one that shreds through the target’sSP. Be ready with the healing items.

It is also possible for Claude to transform intoPhantom versions of Mother and Father. If this is the case, you’ll find thatattacks that hit multiple enemieswill be more effective. Go for Mother first, as she has the more annoying skillset.

When you beat the Phantom Snake, Claude will return with his HP the same as it was when he left the first time. This time, it should be easier to handle him from the get-go as he won’t seal your abilities away.

In this phase of the fight,Claude has the ability to seal away more of your commands. This time, it can be yourItemsor yourAttackcommand, and he can seal them both at once if he gets the opportunity. If you rely on Items to revive or recover SP especially,it’s very important to get rid of this chain ASAP.

The next time you reach one of Claude’s HP thresholds, he summons two Fake Snakes, a parent and a child. These enemies aren’t too troublesome but focus on getting rid of them as soon as you’ve removed your current set of chains.

Breaking Claudewill become more important than ever toward the end of the fight, as he loves tostack up different chains, has abrutal ultimate attackthat hits the entire party, and can use adoom-like attack that places a countdown over a character’s head. When the countdown hits zero, the character dies, but the countdown can be erased by Breaking Claude.

All in all, the way to win this fight is toform a team specifically to take down Claude’s weaknesses, making good use of Secondary Jobs to do so. Once the battle is over, Throné’s chapter will end when youSteal the Key from Claude.

For beating her final chapter, Throné will learnDisguise, which lets you disguise an ally for a few turns.
