Whether you’re hunting for resources or just trying to survive an encounter in the wild, this guide has all the most useful information on each of the new machines in the DLC. Know what components to target and which elements to use, and you’ll be the one standing when the dust settles!
Bileguts
Bileguts are large frog-like machines, and as you can probably tell by their name, they deal Acid damage. They prefer to attack from range, spewing a stream of Metalburnthat can quickly put you in the Corroded state. They’ll alsoleap into the airand attempt to land on you; in both cases, dodge out of the way!
Bileguts areweak to Fire and Frost, though Frost is generally more useful against them as it allows you toremove their components.Destroying the two sacs on their abdomens will remove their Acid attack, but Bilegutsonly drop their unique crafting component, Sac Webbing, if a sac is intact when they die.

Bileguts can use their tongue tograpple Aloyor tosteal resources.
Target theEgg Launcherson the machine’s flanksfirst, as these are easy targets that can be removed quickly; doing so also prevents them from creating more Stingspawn (see below). Bileguts also haveAdhesive Sacson the side of their faces, but these are hard targets and not usually worth going for. Instead, attempt to get behind the machine anddetonate the Sparkers near their hind legs
Apex Bileguts are rare, but when you encounter one, keep it in the Drenched state with Purgewater. This will prevent it from setting you on fire!

Stingspawn
Wherever there are Bileguts, there will be Stingspawn. Bileguts use their Egg Launchers to place Stingspawn Eggs throughout their lairs. The eggs will hatch if Aloy gets close, or if sufficient time passes, but theycan be destroyed before that happens.A fully-drawn arrow is usually all it takes to destroy an egg, but they are somewhat resistant to area damage.
Once they hatch, Stingspawn are a nuisance but nevertheless need to be dealt with. They’ll attack persistently until killed, interrupting your attacks and getting in your way. Worse, a Bilegut caneat Stingspawn to recover health!
Stingspawn are small targets, but almost always go down with a single hit. If one is killed by Shock damage, it will cause asmall explosion, which is usually enough totake out any other Stingspawn nearby.
Waterwings
A cousin of the Sunwing, Waterwings areamphibious machinesthat can glide through the air and water with equal ease. You’ll learn to override them as part of the Burning Shores main quest, but until then you’ll be restricted to using Sunwings to get around.
Waterwings don’t have the Plasma attacks of Sunwings, but they arevery aggressive once provokedand will frequently land for a melee charge. If this happens,be ready for two to three attacks in rapid successionbefore you have an opening to counter.
From the air, Waterwingsshoot sprays of debris. They’re slow moving, so you can usually dodge as long as you see the attack coming.
Waterwings don’t have any external components that you need for crafting, sofeel free to destroy their parts to weaken them. The resource container on their chest should be shot off first, as itcontains extra lootthat is lost if the Waterwing dies.
Waterwings have unpredictable movements, so it can be hard to hit theirWing Filtersor theChillwater Containers on their backs. In general, it’s better toaim for the bodyand try to inflict Burning, Corrosion, Brittle, or Plasma.
Apex Waterwings can be quickly worn down with Plasma, and the machines' tendency to attack in flocks means you can usually catch other nearby enemies with the ensuing blasts.
