Super Marioas a series isn’t as lore-heavy as say,Sonic the Hedgehog, but this just leaves fans with more freedom to come up with their own theories. Now, one of these theories is being presented as a fact, withGooglenow saying that Rosalina is Mario’s daughter.

No, it’s not even saying that this is just a theory (a game theory, ha). If you Google “Who is Mario’s daughter?”, Google will give you Rosalina’s Wikipedia page, as ifNintendohas actually confirmed this idea. Spoiler alert: it hasn’t. But whatever algorithm is used to provide us with the most relevant search results has seemingly decided it’s canon anyway, giving us more questions than answers, given that Rosalina is considered one of the oldest characters in the Mario series.

This discovery was shared on Reddit by user Just_Hour3931. True enough, it’s legit. Give it a go for yourself, and Google will give you this bizarre bit of Mairo “lore.”

Of course, Mario and Peach being Rosalina’s parents (via time travel shenanigans) has been a theory in the fanbase for years, so this is likely where Google is getting confused. However, if you Google “Who is Peach’s daughter?”, you won’t get the same result. Naughty Mario.

Better yet, OP says this search was recommended while they were Googling something else aboutthe Mario movie. This suggests that a bunch of people online wanted to know if Mario had settled down to start a family, only to be greeted with this theory, presented as a fact.

However, this is far from the only fan theory about Rosalina’s parentage. Many fans believe that she’s actually the child of Princess Peach and Luigi. Which isseriouslybreaking the bro code, to be honest. I also won’t stand for this mistreatment of Princess Daisy, so I’m choosing not to believe this.

Funnily enough, this isn’t the only time that the Mario series family tree has been called into question. ThroughoutSuper Mario Sunshine, Bowser claims that Peach is Bowser Jr.’s mother. Unsurprisingly, this isn’t the case, and it was just part of Bowser’s ruse to kidnap the princess. However, it’s never actually explainedwhoJr.’s mother is. Presumably, he’d have to have one, right?

Well, Shigeru Miyamoto was asked exactly this… and then pointed to himself. Sure, it was almost definitely a translation issue, as someone may have confused “mother” with “creator”. But the fanbase ran with it anyway, and was overjoyed to see Jr. finally get the family he deserved. Sadly, Google doesn’t say Miyamoto is actually Jr.’s mum. We were robbed.
