It has been a while since Xbox updated us all on the upcomingForza Motorsport, but the return of the racing sim is much anticipated among motorhead enthusiasts and racing fans. The triple-A racer is going to be a technological showcase too, with all manner of advancements and upgrades promised. But developer Turn 10 Studios has recently issued an update, saying that it is “focused on polishing” the game as it prepares Forza Motorsport for launch “later this year”. This polishing might be needed considering the amount of expectation that the racer comes freighted with, seeing as it is intended to be a real showcase for the power of Microsoft’s consoles.Related:We Should Care More About Xbox Stealing Forza Back After Its Own Pricing ErrorsTurn 10 has said that Forza Motorsport “has been built from the ground up to leverage the full power and performance of Xbox Series X/S consoles and deliver our most beautiful, technically advanced game yet”. This perhaps goes some way in explaining that Xbox One ownerswon’t be getting a native Xbox One versionbut will need to stream the game via Xbox Cloud Gaming, which is included in Xbox Game Pass Ultimate.

Boastingmore than 500 carsto collect, customise, and upgrade, Forza Motorsport will feature a full single-player career mode and more than 800 upgrades for the cars players will be collecting. There’s an online racing mode and a host of technical advancements. In addition to 4K and 60fps, real-time ray tracing with global illumination, Turn 10 has also hyped up the audio upgrades, while boosts to the title’s physics systems are apparently greater than the three previous entries in the series “combined”.

While all this sounds tantalising, the proof will be in the pudding and the developer is still wanting feedback from the fans. On its updatepost, Turn 10 said it’s “still keen” to hear feature and track requests so that it can “keep in mind what you want to see most for the future”. That does sound like the studio is preparing for the base game while perhaps also keeping in mind DLC and track and car updates in the same vein that its great rival Gran Turismo has had.

More from Turn 10’s blog: “Track Voting is a Motorsport-specific category, and we’re seeing strong passion from racing fans globally for Interlagos, which is the #1 voted track, followed by Fujimi Kaido in the runner-up position. While we’ll be revealing the full list of our 20 locations featured in Forza Motorsport closer to release,we want to hear from you which other tracks you’d like to see later on.” Motorsport and race course fans will need to be patient for the Xbox title since there’ll be some months yet before it launches.
