The superhero genre has taken the world by storm since its introduction into comics in 1938. These characters captured the interest of many over the years and have since made their debuts all across different forms of media.

With the rise of technology, it came as no surprise that these superheroes would be given their own video games. BothSupermanandSpider-Manwere the first to make their video game debuts on the Atari 2600. While many superhero titles have received outstanding reviews in the past couple of decades, there are quite a few that have been long forgotten.
10The Flash (Game Boy)
When you think of big-name video games for comic books, The Flash doesn’t immediately come to mind. This game was based on the 1990 TV series and was launched for Game Boy in 1991.
In The Flash, you play as Barry Allen, who is tasked with saving the city from villains like The Trickster, Mirror Master, and Captain Cold. You run through different levels collecting snacks and trying to defuse bombs. There are also plenty of thugs to fight and traps to avoid over the 13 different stages.

9Blade
Blade was already a well-known name, but thanks to the live-action film starring Wesley Snipes, Blade became even more popular. Thanks to that popularity a video game based on the live-action film was made.
Launched for the PlayStation in 2000, this game lets you play as Blade while he goes aroundhunting vampiresand trying to take out the head vampire. You go through different locations such as sewers, warehouses, and nightclubs fighting creatures like monsters, vampires, familiars, and killer dogs to name a few. There are plenty of weapons to use like Blade’s signature sword, guns with different ammunition, and explosives.

8Swamp Thing
Swamp Thing is one of those characters whose name is well known and looks like he jumped straight out of a vintage horror film. It may come as a surprise that he made his video game debut with a self-titled game launched on the Game Boy in 1992.

This title features the origin story of the Swamp Thing and is taken straight from the animated series. You roam the swamps of Louisiana battling different foes with attacks like punching and firing sludge balls at them. you’re able to also use camouflage and garbage you find to gain other powers. Not only are there different locations like a graveyard and Arcane’s Lab, but you also fight bosses such as Weedkiller and Arcane himself.
7Silver Surfer
The Silver Surfer is both an iconic name and a look that is easily recognizable. A perfect candidate for a video game, his own self-titled adventure was launched on the NES in 1990.
This scrolling shoot-em-up game is known for being very difficult. You go through different stages, with each one of them being cut up into sections, fighting different enemies like monsters, bats, and robots to name a few. You also face different villains like Mephisto and Kylor.

The final mission sees you being sent to the Magik Domain by Galactus to battle a character (who is not in the comics) to retrieve an item known as the Cosmic Device.
6Batman Beyond: Return Of The Joker
Batman Beyond was a beloved TV series that drew a cult following. After being canceled, a movie was ordered and that same film was turned into a video game. This beat-em-up was launched in 2000 for the Game Boy Color, PlayStation, and N64.
Playing as the new Batman, you fight members of the Joker gang, different creatures, and other enemies. To do so, there are four different bat suits, each with their own abilities and weapons. The main plot is to stop the Joker from one of his devious plans after being resurrected.

Unfortunately, this game wasn’t well received with overwhelmingly negative reviews.
5Wolverine (NES)
Wolverinemight just be one of the most beloved and iconic characters fromMarvel. It makes perfect sense that a video game would be made for a comic book character of his caliber.

In this 1991 game launched on the NES, you play as Wolverine, who was captured by Magneto and Sabretooth and left stranded on a deserted island. There are plenty of enemies to fight and well-known characters to interact with such as Havok and Psylocke. Wolverine’s abilities come from basic abilities, and he does use his claws. Defeat enough enemies, and he can go into Bezerker Mode. The main mission is to get to the final stage to fight both Magneto and Sabretooth as the main bosses.
4Constantine
Constantine is one of those movies you wouldn’t know was aDCproperty, but it received much attention due to Keanu Reeves playing the character. A video game was created in 2005 from the Hellblazer comic series and it ties into the movie.
Constantine is an RPG-like third-person shooter. You go around collecting ammo and items for both health and spells. You fight off different demons and unholy animals that have crossed into Earth’s realm. You even get to fight in Hell with a weapon known as the Holy Shotgun.

3Daredevil
The Man Without Fear has always been an interesting and fan-favorite character. A live-action film starring Ben Affleck was made in 2003 and a video game based on that movie came out for the Game Boy Advance in the same year.

In this game, you learn throughDaredevil’smentor, Stick, that Kingpin has put a price on his head. You fight your way through small bosses such as Echo and Bullseye, before getting to Kingpin himself. However, this was all a plot to destroy Kingpin’s competition, which Daredevil unknowingly eliminates.
2Superman (NES)
There have been a plethora of Superman, Batman, andJustice Leaguegames, so it can be hard to remember all the ones that have been launched since the 1970s.
In 1987, a Superman game was launched for the NES. In this one, you play as Superman trying to save Metropolis from Lex Luthor and a gang of criminals from Krypton, including General Zod. You have a wide range of abilities like super flight, heat vision, and two different types of super breath.

During your journey, you have to collect items to power up your energy bar to make Superman stronger. If you get hit enough by enemies, you can revert to Clark Kent.
1X-Men: The Official Game
TheX-Menare undoubtedly one of the biggest teams of superheroes ever made, and their popularity only grew thanks to both the animated series and live-action films.
Launched in 2006, X-Men: The Official Game ties into the movies and bridges the gap between X2 and X-Men: The Last Stand. There is quite a lot that goes into this title during the storyline as you’re able to play asseven different characters, but there is a heavy focus on Wolverine, Iceman, and Nightcrawler. Some of the stories include the X-Men discovering Hydra, Storm being abducted, Logan trying to rescue her even though he’s battling the memories of Jean Grey dying, and Nightcrawler trying to retrieve parts of Cerebro while fighting Sentinels.

While it tried to give more of the movie’s story, it received mixed reviews on all different platforms.
