Japan has managed to garner a bit of a reputation over the past few years for having some impressive 3D billboards, and one of the most impressive was an advert forFinal Fantasy 7 Remake Integradewhich was put up for the holiday season back in 2021. Featuring everyone’s favorite lion-wolf hybrid, Red XIII is seen chilling out before a thrilling helicopter chase scene plays that includes some of that classic Final Fantasy 7 music we all know and love.
Of course, with it being a 3D billboard, there are moments during the scene in which Red XIII appears to peek over the side of the billboard and take note of the surroundings below. It’s a truly impressive display that wowed many at the time, and now it seems to have impressed the Tokyo Outdoor Advertising Contest judges who have given the billboard an award for its creativity (thanksDestructoid).

Speaking of Final Fantasy 7, it was recently revealed by Square Enix that Barrett wasn’t originally going to have his iconic gatling gun replace his right forearm. In the early stages of planning,Barrett was going to have a bowgun there instead, firing off crossbow bolts instead of live ammuntion. We’ll unfortunately have to use our imagination to have an idea of what that would look like, but it’s definitely would have been a dramatic difference over the character we’ve come to know and love. I’m sure the game’s modding community is on the case as we speak.
