Final Fantasy 14is hosting a free giveaway right now. Anyone who owns the Starter Edition of FF14 can now download the Stormblood expansion absolutely free between now and May 8. It’s hard to argue with free, but it’s ignited a fierce debate among fans on which expansion was the worst.

Much of that debate centers around whether Stormblood was the worst of the FF14 expansions. Oneparticular tweetaccused it of being just that, although you’re able to findplentyofexamplesof Stormblood being ranked the worst DLC for FF14. And there are indeedplentyoftweetsconfirming Stormblood to be the worst, but there are also plenty of tweets defending what Stormblood brought to the table.

“From a story perspective yes,” admitted Twitter userPillowyZeal, “[but] content-wise? Oh hell no it was by far the best expansion. Eureka, the Omega raids were fire, two great ultimates, almost all Ex fights were really good, Heaven on High and MH trial collab.”

“To me, Stormblood was by far the best expansion,” agreedHeather Sommers. “Stormblood had the best trials, environments, and dungeons to me.”

A thread started soon after Square Enix announced it was giving away Stormblooddetailed what fans loved about the maligned expansion. “Going to the Far East, especially Azim Steppe, and how amped the mechanics were getting in dungeons and trials,” commented userAdrian Bunboy. “I really enjoyed [Stormblood] until the ending and the following patches, but it wasn’t enough to make me dislike the expansion as a whole.”
