Magic: The Gathering Arena’sMarch of the Machine is perhaps the biggest release in the game’s history. A massive battle spread right across the multiverse, it pulls together settings and characters we haven’t seen in years for a final all-out war against Elesh Norn and her Phyrexian army.

Every new set needs a new Mastery Pass, and March of the Machine’s offers up tons of Booster packs, Gems, Gold, and cosmetics. Here’s everything you need to know about the Mastery Pass, including how to level up as quickly as possible.
What Is The Magic: The Gathering Arena Mastery Pass?
The Mastery Pass istwo collections of rewardsyou can earn just by playing MTG Arena. It is Arena’s take on the old service game staple, the Battle Passfound in games like Fortnite and Apex Legends.
In order to earnBooster packs, cosmetics, cards, and in-game currency, you’ll need to win games and complete quests in order to rank up yourMastery level.Like many other battle passes, there are two ‘tracks’, afree one all players have access to,and apaid pass that offers many more rewards.

The free pass will be unlocked thefirst time you log into MTG Arena, starting you at level one. By going through the in-game store, you’re able to unlock the full pass for3200 gems, which is roughly $19.99 with some gems left over to spend elsewhere. If you’d rather skip a few levels and give yourself some breathing room for finishing the pass, you can also pay5400 gems insteadto unlock both the pass and enough XP to gain ten levels.
Unlocking the Mastery Pass is retroactive, meaning that, once you’ve paid for the pass, you’ll unlock everything you’d missed up to that point. This means a good way to ensure value for money is to not pay untilnear the end of the season, and use the 5200 gem option to gain those last ten levels.

The Mastery Pass will last untilJune 20, 2023.. Note that, whileMarch of the Machine Aftermathis launching on May 12, it willlikely not have its own Mastery Pass.
How To Level Up The Mastery Pass
The Mastery Pass is levelled up in different ways:completing quests, winning games, or paying to skip levels.
Paying to skip levels is the easiest method. Each level costs250 gems to skip, and so skipping from the first level to level 70 will cost you17250 gems. However, keep in mind that the pass only rewards you a total of1200 gems.Skipping more than four levels will result in anet loss of gems, lowering the value of paying for the pass.

Winning games and clearing quests is the main way of completing the pass. Each day, you will be assignedup to three daily quests, which each reward500 XP and 500 Gold each. These quests could involve playing specific colours, card types, or destroying your opponent’s creatures, meaning it’s a good idea to haveat least one deck for each colourto speed up your progress.
As levels are a fixed interval of 1000 XP each, you’ll be able to cleara level and a half every dayjust by doing these quests.

There are two more quests:Daily Wins and Weekly Wins. Daily wins are probably theleast time-efficient way of levelling up the pass,as it only awards 25 XP per level, for a total of 375 per day. Winning 15 games per day is very time-intensive, and as the rewards are minimal it isbetter to treat this as incidental XP earned while doing your other tasks, rather than grinding out all those wins every single day.
Weekly Wins are a much better source of XP.The first 15 games you win each week will earn you250 XP, for a total of3750 per week. This stacks with your daily wins, meaning thefirst 15 wins of the week will actually give you a whopping 4125 XP total. Considering that is enough for four levels, it’s well worth winning at least 15 times per week.
