Yutaro Namigaki slides his glasses up his nose under a bridge

Throughout your time with Paranormasight, you’ll meet plenty of characters – both Curse Bearers and regular folk – and slowly learn their motivations and what brought them toward the Seven Mysteries. Nobody can be trusted in a story full of twists and turns, and after rolling credits, some of the main characters were more likable and memorable than others.

Slight Spoilers For Paranormasight Ahead!

11Yutaro Namigaki

Most Curse Bearers use subtle tactics to determine if someone else also holds a Curse Stone, except for Yutaro Namigaki. Instead, he stands under a bridge asking people if they have one and then inquires about teaming up to steal souls together to make the task easier.

It doesn’t take long to realize that Namigaki can’t be trusted, and you’ll need to think outside the box to escape his curse and turn the tables on him. You eventually find out that he wants to use the Rite of Resurrection to bring back someone he accidentally killed, but that doesn’t redeem his awful behavior.

Mayu Chozawa looks at her reflection in a mirror

10Mayu Chozawa

One of Paranormasight’s favorite tricks is suddenly introducing a new playable character with a perspective that shines more light onto the overarching mystery. After swapping between four characters during the first half of the game, a fifth suddenly awakens in a dark room with no memories of her name or how she got there.

After solving some puzzles, she remembers that her name is Mayu Chozawa and that she was kidnaped and interrogated after her fiancé started looking into a shady group of people. You only play as Mayu in one chapter, and her brief appearances toward the end make it hard to know her as well as other characters.

The art student may look innocent, but as events unfold, a darker side to Ayame Tono begins to reveal itself. Not only is she a Curse Bearer, but she also has secret relationships with other characters that complicate the situation. Her quest for fame pushes her pretty far, and her unpredictability makes every encounter tense.

Born with theability to see the paranormal, Yoko is eccentric and excited about the concept of discovering a clue, but it’s ultimately short-lived.

After revealing that she just wanted to use the Rite of Resurrection to revive her dog, she suddenly starts panicking and dies shortly after. 7Shogo Okiie

The first playable character in Paranormasight is Shogo Okiie, a young man that accidentally finds himself wrapped up in the paranormal after a random encounter with Yoko Fukunaga. He decides to help her search for curse stones one night, but he inadvertently becomes a Curse Bearer and begins his journey to obtain the Rite of Resurrection.

6Tetsuo Tsutsumi

Tetsuo Tsutsumi is a complicated man with an estranged relationship with his daughter and a tough gig as a Chief Inspector with the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department. While investigating the murder of a fellow officer, Tetsuo becomes a Curse Bearer – but is the only one with zero intention of using it against other people.

As an officer, Tetsuo’s priority is to locate the other Curse Bearers and have them hand over their stones as peacefully as possible. He uses fascinating and surprising methods to get what he wants, and you’ll learn plenty about his past during the adventure that makes him even more likable despite a few flaws.

5Harue Shigima

While most of the Curse Bearers intend to use the Rite of Resurrection on a close friend or someone they idolize, Harue Shigima wants to bring back her young son, who was murdered before the events of Paranormasight. Harue is willing to do whatever it takes to get him back, but, fortunately, she has someone holding her back from killing other people.

As soon as you meet Harue, you can sense the cloud of sorrow that follows her every step. What she went through was tragic, and though taking other people’s souls is frowned upon, you almost want her to succeed and use the Rite of Resurrection to save her son to help her experience joy again.

4Mio Kurosuzo

Aside from police officers and grieving mothers, you will also witness the events of Paranormasight through the eyes of two High School girls. Mio is a bit reserved and mysterious, but once she opens up to you, it becomes clear that she is incredibly supportive of her friends and will attempt to help them whenever possible.

Not only is Mio a fantastic ally, but she also has the power the sense the supernatural and interact with them despite having no connection to the Seven Mysteries. Her ability to sense and communicate with spirits saves her and her friends more than a few times, and her maturity seems to go beyond her years.

3Jun Erio

Playing through Paranormasight can be a tense and terrifying experience. You never really know when someone – or something – is about to appear from the shadows, but the game often attempts to distract you with more comedic moments delivered by characters like Jun Erio.

Partnered with the always-serious Tetsuo Tsutsumi, Jun Erio is a rookie detective that likes to poke fun at his mentor’s age and attitude. His humor provides well-needed levity to situations, but you’ll also discover that he is good at his job and is capable of defending the people he cares most about. While he’s not a Curse Bearer, he often seems unfazed by the saga of the Seven Mysteries.

2Yakko Sakazaki

Yakko Sakazaki is another playable character alongside Tetsuo Tsutsumi and Harue Shigima and accidentally becomes a Curse Bearer after investigating the mysterious suicide of her best friend. Alongside Mio Kurosuzo, the two work together to avoid other Curse Bearers and discover the truth that connects the Seven Mysteries to the death of her friend.

When you start playing as Yakko, she seems timid and scared until she begins uncovering secrets about her friend. One of the best parts about Paranormasight is watching Yakko come out of her shell and transform from a heartbroken and distant person to a confident young woman willing to roll up her sleeves for anyone she loves.
