Elden Ringis filled with some of the toughest bosses you will ever have the misfortune of facing in any video game. However, it appears to have been firmly decided upon at this point that Malenia is the toughest of them all, ranking her right up there with the hardest boss fights in gaming history. Now imagine sharply inhaling that sigh of relief you let out when you beat her because The Blade of Miquella decided to keep on bothering you from the grave.
That’s what happened toInzealouswho shared the unfortunate encounter on Reddit. They, along with a couple of helpers, manage to fell Malenia, triggering the speech she gives upon defeat. However, as her haunting words echo around the battleground on which she has been defeated, the phantom spirits she summoned right before she died continue to attack, seemingly unaware their master has fallen.

If you’ve battled Malenia, you’ll know that her phantom spirits attack is one of the hardest to avoid and battle back against. In fact, the post-death attack is so overwhelming and unexpected, Inzealous suffers defeat, potentially becoming the first player in Elden Ring history to both beat Malenia and get beaten by her in the same battle. Thankfully, they reveal in the replies that they didn’t need to do the boss fight over again.
As for why exactly this happened, that remains a mystery. Since no one else to have seen the clip has experienced it, Malenia continuing on after she’s fallen is being chalked up to a rare glitch. Whether it be a weird problem that resulted in the game failing to trigger all of the events that are supposed to unfold when Malenia is killed, or if Inzealous combined some sort of incredibly unique chain of events that led to the problem being triggered.
What’s even more amazing about this discovery is Let Me Solo Her wasn’t the one who clocked it. The player became an Elden Ring legend last year asthey helped more than 2,000 players defeat Malenia. It seems almost unfathomable that someone who has faced off against and defeated Malenia so many times could find anything online including something they don’t know about Malenia, but if such a thing exists, it will likely be the video above.
Providing her phantom spirits don’t hang around after you’ve killed her,Malenia has actually become a little bit easier to beatthanks to a recent Elden Ring update. Morgott’s Cursed Sword received a serious buff thanks to the patch, leading to someone demonstrating how it can be used to get rid of Malenia in a mere 60 seconds.
