Shortly afterElden Ring’s first birthday,FromSoftwarefinally confirmedthe massively popular game will be getting DLC. The wait for that confirmation has been an arduous one for many of you, but perhaps not as tough as it was for JPNB, a dedicated Elden Ring player who committed to beating Malenia every week, each time with an entirely different build, until DLC was officially announced.

As reported byGamesRadar, now that The Shadow of the Erdtree DLC has been confirmed, JPNB can finally bring the curtain down on their weekly appointments with Malenia. You can still go back and watch all of their battles with what is widely regarded as The Lands Between’s toughest enemy viatheir YouTube channel. A trip back to the beginning serves as a reminder that this journey began life as a daily challenge.

Quickly realizing putting together a new build to beat Malenia every single day was too tall an order, especially with no indication of when the DLC might be announced, JPNB made it a weekly affair. Sticking to their word, the streamer has proceeded to beat Malenia 62 times since they made their pledge last May, doing so with a different set of skills, weapons, and spells at their disposal each time.

JPNB revealed the inspiration for some of their builds stemmed from fifth-grade students they’ve taught in the past. A pupil who orchestrated other members during a group project but did little else inspired a summon-based build, for example. They also revealed they have a spreadsheet containing a long list of builds they thought up that may now never see the light of day since their DLC challenge can now come to an end.

JPNB has likely joined the rest of the Elden Ring community in trying to figure out what The Shadow of the Erdtree DLC might actually include. FromSoftware has revealed just one image so far, and many of you thinkthe character riding the horse is Miquella. Some of you have even turned to the DLC’s logo in search of clues, theorizingthe branches emanating from the O might well be Death Blight.
