Elden Ring revamped the idea of the traditional Soulslike, thanks to its enormous and detailed open world. Primarily so, because it meant that if you’re stuck in one particular place, you could head elsewhere, gather Runes, and come back much stronger. However, legacy dungeons, as they’re called, still reside within this open world, and Stormveil Castle is the first one you come across. What hasn’t changed from FromSoftware’s earlier titles though, is the shared experience we all have in these dungeons.

Melapriliais a cosplay artist who also has a unique take on Elden Ring content – she cosplays and puts herself into the game via special effects fuckery. In Mel’s latest video, she takes on Stormveil Castle and stumbles over many of the same hurdles we all have. Not just that, but her reactions to certain situations also mirror how we felt in those moments.

Tell me if this sounds familiar. Mel starts at the gate of the castle, where many of us were stuck – at least for a minute – wondering how to open the gate. Upon realising that it wouldn’t nme much of a castle if the gate could be opened from outside, she gets Gatekeeper Gostoc to open it. Quickly realising that the front way is too well guarded, she proceeds through the way Gostoc suggested – not before being laughed at.

What proceeds is a montage of blunders we can all relate to. Getting blown up by Godrick’s soldiers while hiding behind explosive barrels, horsing around with the Living Jars, getting blown up by that second goddamned Warhawk, having our Runes stolen by Gostoc, and inevitably having to face the horrific Grafted Scion after a failed attempt at stealth.

We finally see Mel fleeing from the rampaging root monster, before waking up next to Fia, considering having another cuddle session. Unfortunately, we don’t see her go toe to toe with Godrick the Grafted, the lord of Stormveil Castle. Personally, I could relate a lot to this video. Mel made many of the same mistakes I made, and also showcased many of the same instances thatI faced in the castle.
