Diabo 4is scheduled to launch on June 6, but the public betas for the game have been running since March. Meanwhile, fans have learned that Diablo 4 is to get new storylines every three months in what has been called “meaty” updates.

These quarterly updates will arrive alongside a new seasonal battle pass that will have both free and premium varieties. Previously, Blizzard has said Diablo 4’s first season will not go live when the game launches but will release at some point later. However, the news of these quarterly updates, which can be seen as seasons, has gotten Diablo fans talking.

“I can’t hang with these kids and their forever games… I want to play other games too!” came a cry from the above thread. Another popular comment remarked: “‘Diablo 4 won’t be Story-complete until year 2’ there I fixed that for you”.

However, it should be made clear that Diablo 4’s seasonal story updates will be free, with the premium battle pass being the item that will cost money. Seasons were also free in Diablo 3 (with Blizzard confirming thatits next season is to be its last). However, as a commentor noted, Diablo 3 didn’t get story updates with its seasons, but mostly focused on end-game content.

The worries over these seasonal updates with new storylines could perhaps be summed up by one popular comment in the thread: “Diablo 4 won’t ever be story complete unless you play it each season. There fixed it further.” Clearly, many fans are concerned over the monetization and live-service aspects of the game.

Meanwhile, Blizzard has also provided more info about Diablo 4’s endgame. In adeveloper videoit showed Nightmare dungeons along with the open-world areas known as Helltides. These two things will form the majority of the endgame. The former are tougher versions of the existing dungeons, with tweaks and other changes that will add further variety. While Helltides will feature deadlier enemies and remixed versions of bosses that will spawn within the confines of the Helltide, which will take place across multiple areas of the game’s world.

On April 20, Blizzard will address beta feedback and elaborate on Diablo 4’s endgame in a livestream. The beta has been host to many millions of players and is the biggest in the series' history. The game is due to launch June 6.
