Diablo 4developerBlizzardhas been revealing a little more about its post-game now that fans have had a couple of weekends getting to grips with how it will play and what to expect on release. Being a live-service title, you’d expect that Diablo 4 will have a fairly meaty and extensive post-game that will keep us all playing, and Blizzard is hoping that the game’s Battle Passes will go some way to achieving that.

They’ll definitely be a time sink at the very least, as Diablo 4 associate game director Joe Piepiora recently revealed in an interview (thanksPC Gamer) that the game’s Battle Passes will take “roughly 80 hours” to complete. Not only that, but you’ll also need to keep playing for even longer if you want your character to hit max level, meaning you’re probably looking at close to 90 or 100 hours per season if you want to max out a single character.

“Right now, the battle pass, when you’re figuring in completing the season journey alongside doing other content in the game, you’re looking at roughly 80 hours worth of time invested to complete the entirety of the battle pass,” said Piepiora. “To level a character to level 100 could take a little longer than that based on how you play.”

Blizzard has already explained that each season of Diablo 4 will last approximately three months, so that gives you a little over 90 days to spread out 80 hours if you’re determined to complete each Battle Pass as they come. For the more dedicated players out there, that probably won’t matter too much, especially since participating in each “seasonal journey” will get players most of the way there naturally. For the more casual player, that time sink could be a little daunting, so it’s something to think about if you want to take on Diablo 4’s endgame.

However, Piepiora seems to understand that this level of investment may not be too appealing for a lot of people, and stresses that Diablo 4’s post-game isn’t mandatory for those that simply wish to experience the story. You can easily return to the game whenever a new expansion or batch of story content releases, and Piepiora explains that Blizzard has made sure grinding in the endgame isn’t the “only way to play Diablo 4”.

As for when we’ll be able to sink our teeth into that story, Diablo 4 is still expected to launch on June 6 later this year. Despite Microsoft’s impending acquisition, Diablo 4 will be available on pretty much all platforms including PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
