Atomic Monster andBlumhouseare working with Behaviour Interactive to bringDead by Daylightto cinemas with a film adaptation. If you haven’t played, it’s an asymmetrical horror game in which four survivors try to escape one killer, winning the match. It has a few original characters of its own, but is also known for crossovers with Pinhead,Ghostface, Michael Myers, and more.
“We couldn’t be more thrilled to work with Jason Blum and James Wan, two giants of the horror film industry, to further expand the ‘Dead by Daylight’ universe,” Behaviour Interactive executive vice president Stephen Mulrooney said (as reported byVariety).

“At Behaviour, our motto is to create unique moments, together, forever. Atomic Monster and Blumhouse are the ideal partners to craft ‘Dead by Dalyight’s killer entrance onto the big screen.”
The Dead by Daylight movie is in its early stages right now, currently scouting for a director. According to Blumhouse founder and CEO Jason Blum, “It’s imperative we find someone who appreciates and loves [Dead by Daylight’s world] as much as we do, to help us bring the game to the big screen.”
It’s unclear what the film itself will look like. At the very least, we know it’ll be styled as a slasher, with a group of survivors trying to avoid a killer. However, there are several to choose from, but if it plans to stick to the game’s format, it may only use one - there’s the Trapper, Nurse, Huntress, and more, any of which Blumhouse could choose from.
Another key feature of Dead by Daylight is its small, exclusive zones. Survivors must band together to open the gates and escape the confines of one area, which is marginally different to the typical slasher format. Usually,slasher movies take place in entire townsor split their characters apart as they are attacked in different locations, completely separate from each other.
In any case, Atomic Monster founder and CEO James wan is confident and sings Dead by Daylight’s praises, saying that “the Behaviour team has created a love letter to the world of horror… perfect for a scary cinematic adaptation.”
