Octopath Traveler 2’s conspiracy seems to grow more complex and mysterious with each passing moment of Temenos’s story. Chapter 3 has Temenos presented with two different options for investigation: Crackridge, home to the Fellsun Ruins that the late Lucian studied, and Stormhail, where Vados the Architect (and murderer) waits for questioning.

Crackridge is, according to the recommended party levels of the chapters, intended to be completed first. You’ll find this town in the northern reaches of the Wildlands. This chapter is an interesting one - it gets deep into the complex background of the conspiracy that keeps Temenos driving forward.
Town Phase: Crackridge
When he arrives in Crackridge, Temenos makes a convincing outsider, asking questions too directly and bluntly. After the short scene,make your way to the inn and stay the night. You won’t be charged for this stay, conveniently.
A short cutscene will show that certain members of the community do not take to Temenos and his affiliation with the Church of the Sacred Flame. After the cutscene and in the morning, a woman named Reiza implores Temenos to take her to the Fellsun Ruins, which lie to the east.
Use your Guide Path Action to get Reiza to follow you. She’s a useful combatant with her magic attacks, at least! If you have to replace your current guided person with Reiza, don’t worry - they will return to Temenos before the chapter is over.
Head to the east, to the Abandoned Road.
Dungeon Phase: Abandoned Road
This is a very linear ‘dungeon’ of sorts.Just keep heading east, apart from the slight detours to grab treasures.
The first treasure chest that you’ll come across, which you’re able to see immediately upon entering the area, contains aHealing Grape (M). The second is behind a crumbling wall - you’ll have to walk underneath the arch to the left - and containssome leaves.
It won’t take long until you reach some houses andReiza reveals her true intentions to you. After the cutscene, she will leave your company and cannot be guided again, but your previous recruit will return if you had one.
Before heading into the ruins,backtrack to the lone houses. The house on the left contains someBottled Nightmaresin a chest. When you’re ready, descend into the ruins.
Dungeon Phase: Fellsun Ruins
The enemies in the ruins are a bit trickier to deal with than the ones on the Abandoned Road, but you should still be able to handle them.
Open the chest to the right of the first set of stairs to get anEnergizing Pomegranate (L)and then continue onwards. When you reach the ruined tables, examine the blue shine to get theMysterious Notebook, which reveals more about the Moonshade Order and the Kal people.
After the scene, take the stairs down to the left to reach a red chest that contains anElemental Robe, which is a very nice get thanks to the boost in SP it comes with. This makes for agreat piece of armor for Temenos or Osvald.
Return upstairs and take the path under the arch at the back of the screen. This path leads to a chest containing aJade Staff, which is another good find as itboosts the potency of Light-elemental attacks. This is perfect forTemenos- element-boosting equipment is very powerful in Octopath Traveler 2.
When you reach the end of the path, Temenos will enter his detective phase automatically and deduce what happened in the ruins all those years ago.There is no boss battle to face here- after the scenes play out, the chapter ends. All that’s left to do is interrogate Vados in Stormhail.
