Proceed up the stairs and through the door at the top.Sneak up on the Ganado to the leftand kill him before he notices you, then go through the door he was guarding.

In the next room, there’s a Ganado to the right; you’re able to’t sneak up on him, soparry his attack to stagger himthen finish him off with a melee followup. Optionally, you cankill the two rats scurrying around the roomas part of the “Pest Control” Challenge.

At the end of the hall, you’ll find a room with a locked gate and a crank wheel.Turn the wheel fullyto open a door back in the room where you fought the second Ganado. The door willslowly close after you let go of the wheel, so run while retracing your steps to get into the room beyond. The easiest route is tojump through the hole in the rubble in the hallway.

There’s a bear trap directly in front of the door - disarm it before you attempt to enter, or you’ll miss your opportunity to clear the door before it closes.

Once you’re past the door, check the table on the leftto recover your gear. Anything you’ve picked up between the start of the chapter and now will be put on the table in its place;take everything that you have room for. From this side, you can unbar the door back to the wheel room.

How To Get The Hexagonal Emblem

Approach the gate, and you’ll encounter the Merchant for the first time. He’ll unlock the gate for you and invite you to browse his wares. It’s recommended that yourepair your combat knifeandupgrade your carrying capacityas your first purchase; after that, weapon upgradesandtrading in Spinels for rare itemsis the way to go. If you have money left over, buy the SR M1903 Rifleand the Merchant will throw in a Scope for free!

The door to the left can’t be opened yet, sofollow the pathtoward the rickety towers.A single Ganadastands between you and the next area; with your gear recovered, she shouldn’t be a problem.

Climb the ladder at the end of the path. If you purchased the Rifle and Scope, you can easilypick off several Ganados from herebefore descending into the valley. There are a lot more hiding out of sight that will attack once your position is given away, but taking out the visible enemies will make the ensuing fight much easier.

Lots of the enemies here use bombs -listen for the sound of lit fusesand watch for the red indicator on the screen when an explosive is near.Keep movingandavoid red barrelsto prevent yourself from getting blown up.

Enemies near the edge of a drop will fall to their deaths if they’re staggered - watch for opportunities to get quick kills!

When you first drop down, immediately climb through the window of the building to your left.Inside is a Yellow Herb and a First Aid Spray; collect both, thenshoot the padlock on the doorto escape before the Ganados climb through the window after you.

When the coast is clear, run across to the building at the bottom of the valley.Climbing through the open window on the right will give you an opportunity tostealthily kill the Ganado inside, then climb up to the roof where you cancollect the Hexagonal Emblemthat opens the gate near the Merchant.

The Ganados have a fortified position on theridge to the left.Fighting your way through it will yield a treasure chest containing a Ruby. You’ll also find the wheel thatopens the gate back to the Merchant’s area. Turn the wheel then make your escape by returning to the start point - the Ganados will just keep coming until you do so. Beware, when you open the gate the villagers willdestroy the central bridge, taking away a possible escape route!

Use the shotgun to quickly blast through groups of enemies blocking your path.

Save your game at the typewriter and top up with goods from the Merchant, then examine the gate across from his table. The Hexagonal Emblem fits in the slot to the left, but you need to rotate it first. Turn the Emblem so that the bird is right-side up and facing to the right - essentially themirror image of the bird in the slot. Then, flip the Emblem so that the bird icon is facing away from you and place it in the slot. If this is done correctly, the Emblem will turn into a handle that opens the gate.

How To Reach The Village Chief’s House

When you pass through the gate, you’ll see acrouching Ganado with his back turned to youon the left. If you’re fast, you can run up behind him and eliminate him before he turns around. He has a buddy behind the rubble to his left, though, so don’t let your guard down! A third enemy will attack from the path ahead when she hears fighting.

Once all three Ganados are defeated, crawl through the hole in the rubble to the left. On the other side you’ll find cash, resources, and a chest containing a Sapphire.

Return to the main path, taking care toavoid the bear traps on the ground in the narrow passage leading to the stairs. At the top of the stairs is a flock of crows -shoot as many as you canbefore they fly away to get some extra cash and items, then proceed.

Check the shack to the left, where you’ll find a note saying todestroy the Wind-Up Dolls. The first one is right behind you after reading the note, to the left of the door.Listen to the telltale clockwork sound it makesbefore destroying it - knowing what these collectibles sound like will make it much easier to find them!

There’s an altar in the yard - look for aring of stones and candles directly in front of it.Above the ring is a cask, which drops a Sapphire when shot.

Before the first set of stone steps, take a look at the wellon the left.Shoot the support beam holding the cover open, then shoot the cask above to get a Pearl Pendant. Shooting the cask before destroying the support will cause the pendant to fall in the slimy water, hurting its sale value.

Right around this point, you might hear an approaching enemy - Doctor Salvador, the chainsaw man, is back for another round! You’re much better equipped to take him now, but he won’t go down easily.

Slip past Salvador as he runs down the stairs toward you; if it’s absolutely necessary you canparry his chainsaw attack, but this eats up almost half of your knife’s Durability. Run up the stairs andduck under the tripwireat the top. Salvador will chase you right through it, but even the explosion won’t stop him for long.

While Salvador is getting up,kill any nearby Ganadosso that they don’t interfere with the fight. Stagger Salvador with shotgun blasts until you can hit him with a melee follow-up; when he’s on the ground, a few slashes from your knife should be enough to finish him off. He even drops an Emerald!

If you’re short of ammo or don’t think you can take Salvador, keep runningafter he triggers the bomb. The path ahead is littered with bear traps, which should be enough to slow him down while you slip in the back door of the church.

How To Get The Insignia Key

The house door is locked - of course - sotake the path around the left side of the building, watching out for bear traps as you do so. Go through the back door, and you’ll see a door on your left; there’s a Ganado inside, but you can quickly kill him before he has a chance to ambush you. There’s also a drawer at the end of the hall containing a Ruby.

Go upstairs and take the Red Herb on the table. You can also save at the typewriter and read some of the cult’s teachings - pay attention to thesacrifices demanded of the followers. The door at the end of the hall is locked, so head back downstairs and go into the dining room.Search the corner for a Small Key.The oven in the kitchen contains an egg, and you can find a Hand Grenade and some cash in the side hallway. There’s also a combination lock on a fancy cabinet.

The icons on the lock corresponds to the sacrifices listed in the Los Illuminados text upstairs; acrop, a pig, and a baby.Set the wheels accordingly and press the button on the right to open the cabinet. You’ll receive aCrystal Marblethat opens the door upstairs.

As you leave the hallway, you’ll hear a clicking sound - the Ganado that you killed when you entered the buildinghas resurrected.Finish him off for good, then go back upstairs.

Insert the Crystal Marble into the socket on the door to the master bedroom.Rotate it approximately 180 degreesso that the speckles inside line up with the symbol of the Los Illuminados Cult, and the door will open.

Inside, read the diary on the left thenopen the drawer by the window.Take the Insignia Key inside to trigger a cutscene and finish the chapter.
