The second chapter inDeliver Us Marsis fairly short, but it contains critical parts of the story and teaches players a key skill for later sections. It’s also the first of many times that you’ll find yourself faced with the dangers of space travel.

Between several flashbacks and a perilous spacewalk to fix a damaged thruster, this chapter makes it clear how the rest of the game is going to be. If you need a hand learning new mechanics, or with completing the repairs to the exterior of the shuttle, this guide has everything you need to succeed.
How To Complete The First Spacewalk
Once the cutscene at the start of the chapter concludes, you’ll flash back to Kat’s childhood. Follow Isaac throughout the conversation; if you stay near the bottom it will be hard to get lost. Eventually Isaac will swim through a dark hole. Go through after him, and gameplay will return to the present in 2069.
Gameplay in zero-gravity is identical to the swimming controls; floatdirectly from Kat’s sleeping podand continue straight until you reach the cockpit. You’ll need to maneuver around some obstacles. If you get turned around, follow the signs for theControl Center.

When you arrive, Claire will send you on an extra-vehicular activity (EVA) to check the ship’s external systems. Go back out of the cockpit andtake an immediate leftinto the airlock, indicated by flashing red lights.
After a short conversation with Claire,press the blue button on the leftto cycle the airlock and float out into space. Turn right and move toward the rear of the ship. When Claire asks you to assess the damage,interact with the debris stuck in the thruster.Do the same for thethruster baseand thepipesin sequence.

After inspecting the thruster, Claire will ask you tocheck the battery behind itandnote the yellow fuel canisters.With all that done, you canopen the yellow hatchon the right to cut the power for maintenance. All you need to do isthrow the large switch at the bottom.
Move along the outside of the thruster,cutting the pipe and debris at the indicated points.Be sure not to touch any of the yellow fuel canisters with your laser! The last part of the debris has to becut from inside the thruster, and there’s a pipe near the center of the ship that you may need to hit from both sides.

How To Turn The Power Back On
When all debris and pipe are cut, Claire will ask you to return to the service panel and turn the power back on. Start byflipping the two switches with red lightsat the top, thenpulling the lever to the left of them.Next, flip the center switches in the following order;2-4-5-1-3, with one being the leftmost and five being the rightmost. Finally,flip the bottom switch that you originally usedto turn off the power.
When the power is back on, return to the airlock to trigger another flashback scene. Swim directly ahead through the wreckage of the space station until you reach the cockpit; there,pull the large lever on the central consoleto return to the present.

How To Complete The Second Spacewalk
Your next task is to perform a routine check-up of the Zephyr-3. Go to the cockpit andopen the shuttersby interacting with the windows at the front. You’ll see that the same thruster is acting up. Hurry to the airlock and return to the damaged thruster the same way you did before.
After inspecting the damage,open the service paneland attempt to shut off the power. The switch is broken, soopen the shielding over the battery to the leftand cut it away. Next, go to the base of the thruster andcut all the highlighted sections, being careful not to touch the fuel canisters.
As the panels are cut away, they’ll reveal rivets underneath - these need to be cut as well. Toward the end of the process, an explosion will knock you away from the ship,no matter how careful you are.Once you regain control of your thrusters,head straight to the airlock as quickly as you can.Press the button inside to enter the third flashback.
Learning To Climb
Follow Claire and Isaac to the cliffside. Talk with Claire, then start walking down the path toward Isaac. Keep pace with him to continue your conversation with him.
Note that if you get too far ahead of Isaac, the game won’t know to trigger the next bit of dialogue, and you’ll have to go back to meet him.
When you arrive at the shed,talk to Isaacto begin learning how to use the climbing picks. The climbing system is a little tricky; you need toattach one pick to the wall, move upward, then attach the other pickaxe. Then,remove the first pickaxe,move upward, and repeat the process. It’s a good idea to really get the hang of it here, where you can safely make mistakes.
When you reach the top of the first wall, Isaac will invite you to come back down. Instead,keep climbingand make your way to the platform on the right. You’ll overhear a conversation between Claire and Isaac. When they’re done,interact with the plank in the middle of the fenceto hop back down to Isaac and complete the chapter.
