Beyond being able to lug you around, horses can now tug aroundCartif you save up enough points in the new Pony Points system. You can also now increase their stats to make them more versatile and hardy if you sweet-talk Malanya. The possibilities now with horses are greater than ever.

Finding Horses

There is a countless number of horses in Hyrule, and any can be yours through dedication and know-how.

From the beginning, you can findWild Horsesgrazing inwide, open areasin most regions. They are themost prominent type of horse, and while they can be found in just about any area large enough, there area few good locationsto search for companions in the early game:

You cantame any wild horse by sneaking upon them,jumping onwith A, andcalming themby mashing L. So long as you have the stamina to tame them, they will calm down, and you cantake the calm horse to any stableto register them.

You can haveup to ten horseswith max Pony Points.

There are alsorideable creatureslike skeletal horses, deer, ram, and other such animals. However, you cannot register them at a stable to keep (though the reaction of the stable master may be worth the trip).

After registering a horse, you may wish tostrengthen your bondswith your friend. Increasing your bond will make your horselisten to you more, making it easier to ride across the vast lands of Hyrule.

Unique Horses

There are alsounique horsesto discover and board at your local stable. Each of these will requirespecial circumstances to be met or locations to be uncovered, and there areno others like them.

These horses also boast some of thehighest stats,making them highly valuable for your adventure.

Giant White Stallion

Found where the Horse God was located in Breath of the Wild at the end of Horse God Bride in Ibara Butte (southern Hyrule; Faron Region). Must be tamed. Requires high stamina.

Spot

Available after completing theMini Stable questat Lookout Landing.

Speak with Lester, the stablehand, to be given the “Spotting Spot” quest. This gelding/stallion will be located just south of Lookout Landing and in the grass slightly off to the right of the path. Must be tamed. Return to Lester and speak with him to gain permission to register him.

Epona

Unlocked via Twilight Link and Smash Brothers Link Amiibo. Can be summoned twice if you have both.

Ganon’s Giant Horse (Black)

If playing on a console with a Breath of the Wild save on which this horse has been registered at a stable, you may transfer this horse into your Tears of the Kingdom save.

If playing without a compatible Breath of the Wild save, you can find this horse roaming on the peninsula between Hateno Bay and Deepback Bay. Must be tamed. Requires high stamina.

Link Tames Giant White Stallion At Old Malanya Shrine

Zelda’s White Horse

If playing without a compatible Breath of the Wild save, you can find this horse roaming in a herd on the grassy plain on the cliffside above and north of Skull Lake in Deep Akkala. Must be tamed.

Once you get your mitts on a horse, you’ll want totake them to a stable.

Stables arehub areasscattered across Hyrule where you can enjoy avariety of services and win rewards.They’re landmarks to look for along your journey across Hyrule, and you’ll find yourself returning to them often for various reasons.

Horse Customization

The Giant Stallions (White or Black) cannot be customized in either tack or mane.

Pony Points arepoints that go toward rewardsyou can claim for you and your horses. For a certain number of Pony Points, you canredeem them in stages at the book on the counterinside every stable.

Pony Pointscan be earned by:

Unique rewards can be gained until you reach 40 Pony Points(the 50 percent-off ticket). Afterwards, all rewards will interchange betweenEndura Carrotand Sleepover Tickets every five points.

Pony Points can also be gained frommini stable quests given by patrons. For example, the woman outside Wetland Stable gives two Pony Points for killing monsters nearby.

Towing Harness

Allows you to attach a harness through customization so your horse may pull wagons.

5 Points

Horse God Fabric

Fabric can be brought to the Hateno Dye Shop to reskin your Paraglider with a new design.

Malanya Bed

Gain the ability to sleep in the Malanya bed for temporary health and stamina boosts and a chance to receive a message from Malanya.

Traveler’s Saddle and Bridle

16 Points

Mane Restyling Service

Color and braid your horse’s mane and tail; new customization feature.

The cooking ingredients used give extra, limited stamina.

Clarification:Pony Points are cumulative.They are not spent when you receive a reward. Therefore, you only need five points to get the Horse God Fabric, not eight.

Upgrading And Reviving Horses - Malanya, The Horse God

Malanya returnsin Tears of the Kingdom to helpprotect and reviveyour beloved equine companions.

For theprice of specific and complicated meals,you canincrease the stats of your horse,like increased strength and speed. Andfor oneRoasted Endura Carrot, you can revive a deceased horseregardless of how that horse passed (yes, even if it’s your fault, but you will be judged by TheGamer staff; beware!).

To find Malanya, you’ll need totravel to the Deep Akkala regionin the far northeastern corner of the Hyrule map. She restsbehind the East Akkala Stable on Bloodleaf Lake.

However, after you find her, you’ll have tolure her out with an Endura Carrot.You can get this carrot by:

With Malanya found and your horses cozily boarded and cared for, you’ll be able to take your companions on your adventure across Hyrule from beginning to end.
