What makes a boss truly excellent is certainly up for debate, but the best of the best will have a fantastic design, offer a unique challenge, and it’ll also make sure to keep a few tricks up its sleeve. This game may house many mysteries, but it also houses some of the best bosses in the genre.

10The Virgin Born

The Virgin Born might be the final boss of Code Vein, but it’s really not all that fearsome. While many Souls-like games feature brutal fights for final bosses, somehow, Code Vein managed to make a final boss that looks imposing, but is actually one of the easiest in the game.

The design of the hulking creature is fantastic, and it looks like exactly what you’d expect for a final boss of the game, but the trick to beating it and to avoiding most of its attacks is to simply be aggressive. As long as you’re right in close to the boss and attacking it head-on, you’ll fall the beast in potentially a single try.

9Successor Of The Ribcage

In another instance of a unique design but a brutally easy boss fight, the Successor of the Ribcage probably isthe true easiest boss fightin the game considering you might actually be able to beat it on the first try without using any heals.

Anyone who is used to Souls-like games will clue into the pillars immediately and use them to their advantage. Again, the boss looks great, and it probably does deserve some extra points for being a bit more unique in terms of strategy when compared to a lot of the other bosses in the game.

8Successor Of The Claw

There are ways to cheese the fight, but when engaging with the beast, it’s a really fun conflict. The creature’s speed and varied attacks keep the entire fight interesting, making you think on your toes for the best option of counter-attacking.

7Butterfly Of Delirium

For a lot of players, this is the first major roadblock of the game, which is all the worse if they don’t like butterflies. The Butterfly of Delirium is the true test you must overcome to garner the skills to thrive throughout the rest of the game. Even players that hadn’t taken a death until they reached the boss probably took one here.

The fantastic, haunting, and imposing design of the boss is exactly what a lot of people were hoping for from this game. You’ll probably end up poisoned during the fight, so it’s best to bring along some way to add fire to your weapon to tip the scales in your favor.

6Invading Executioner

If the Butterfly of Delirium wasn’t the first major roadblock for you when playing this game, then the Invading Executioner probably was. This strange being hits brutally hard, even for players who are of an adequate level, and the slow debuff that the boss gives off can be a serious challenge.

If you’re afflicted with slow, the fight is basically over. As soon as the being is far out of your range, it’ll leap right back in with an attack that dishes out huge damage. It’s a tough fight that you’ll have to be at your best to accomplish without being heavily over-leveled.

5Queen’s Knight Reborn

When you first come across the Queen’s Knight, you probably had little issue with the boss. The second time you face it once it’s reborn, that might change. This boss is capable of getting a bit overly aggressive and absolutely walloping you with attacks before you can even have a chance to defend yourself.

So long as you know the boss’ pattern, you’ll be able to take him on with a highly damaging weapon, but for most people, you’ll want to go with a weapon that’ll let you stick and move. It’s a tough fight that may have surprised a lot of players not expecting to see the knight again.

4Skull King

As far as the more humanoid enemies go, Skull King is by far one of the most imposing at a glance. This fight is also one of the most fun in the game as it pits you in a battle against an incrediblypowerful dual sword wielder.

Skull King’s physical attacks can combo you for days, so it’s best to play on the defensive until you see an opening to land a few attacks. The dynamic fight forces you to flex your defensive prowess or re-fight the boss over, and over.

3Successor Of The Throat

While a lot of people are skilled enough to blaze through much of Code Vein with a singular build, the Successor of the Throat might be the boss to make you think twice. This boss offers a steep challenge with some highly-damaging magic-based attacks.

This fight becomes all the more challenging if you’re stuck dealing with the leak status that makes it so you have less access to ichor for special attacks. No matter your build or your level, beating this boss is a serious point of pride.

2Blade Bearer And Cannoneer

If you somehow managed to succeed in this fight on the first try, you deserve a medal. Much like the iconicOrnstein and Smough fight from Dark Souls, the Blade Bearer and Cannoneer offer a steep challenge that will take a lot of skill to overcome.

Luckily, this game lets you take on bosses with a partner, so seeing to it that both bosses are occupied might not be trouble if you’re lucky. If you’re unlucky, both bosses will target you alone without letting up, something that is a brutal certainty if your partner falls.

1Juzo Mido

There’s just something fantastic about a brutal sword fight against a hulking brute. Taking on Juzo Mido is an absolute thrill and a boss fight that a lot of players wished for more of throughout the game. It’s also a fantastic fight from a lore and story standpoint as well.

This boss combines a fantastic design with a seriously tough but fair fight. Like many other bosses, the key here will be to figure out the attack patterns to avoid the high-damage sword slashes while also landing a few strikes of your own.
