As you follow the jester, you’ll get swept up in a chaotic side-quest to save some wisps and probably forget, at least for a little while, what you’re supposed to be doing in Avalon Forest. Will you remember what you’re really here for, or will you too get swept up in the magic of Faerieland?

Continuing from Sunspeckled Grove, you’ll enter Chalkroot Hollow and meet a strange new NPC.Follow the main pathafter your cutscene ends.

As you prepare to reach the area where you need to jump onto a log-looking platform, instead head right to jump across a gap partially obscured by a waterfall. A journal can be found at the end of this area, and jumping with Hug Cheshire over a gap to the northeast will lead you to a chest with resources.
After getting the resource chest, climb down the mushroom ladder and head leftto eventually find a second chest filled with Onyx Roses.

Head back to the main path, jump over the first gap onto the log platform, and instead of walking across the vine, notice the mushroom ladder on the south side of this platform.Climb down it and walk across the shallow water to find a chest on a wooden platform.
Interacting with the chest will trigger a faerie trapwhere you’ll need to defeat another Bananach and a few minion faeries. After defeating them, you’ll be able to open the chest for some resources and an Umbran Syrup.

With all this in hand, you’re able to jump with Hug Cheshire left andfollow the path until you see a vine you can walk across.Doing so will finally bring you to a Sanctuary save point.
A Journal piece can be found along themain path to the left of the Sanctuary(where you came from), so after you defeat the Spriggan and its ally across the vine bridge, pick it up along the way as this is where you need to go.

Further to your left, you’ll find a flower you can grow with Witch’s Pulse. Do so to reveal a bomb.To use the bomb, you’ll need Wood Cheshire to use Grab.
Once your bomb is secure with Cheshire’s tongue, throw it at the stones on the north side to destroy the rocky barricade in your way. It may take two bombs to destroy everything, but after the stony blockade is gone, you canpull the lever to the left of the Carnival Gate.

If you’d like an edge over the trials to come, take a moment toalso throw the bombs to the blockade south of the flower. On the other side of it is a crystal you can interact with for a Moon Pearl. This item should be taken back to the Sanctuary to give Cereza a unique skill (like Multi-Bind).
Once you’re ready to proceed, go ahead and walk through the gate into the next area.

Tir Na Nog
x1 (The Jest)
Cereza will need to do the next part of this chapter on her own. Go ahead anduse the jungle-gym bars to climb upand continue out of the carnival-playground area. As you enter Faerieland Tower, ignore the left path in favor ofgoing down the stairs to your right.

Follow this path down to enter the illusion. This illusion will guide you forward, limiting where you’re allowed to venture, sofollow the guiding mushrooms and the numerous illusory wallsthat pop up along your path.
Keep track of the numerous hidden paths and sparkling items as you travel since you’ll be returning to them at a later time.

Faeries will pop up along your journey. Some will even block your path forward. You don’t need to attack them, but you’ll have todispel them with your braceby holding L2 in their direction. Once dispelled, they’ll permanently disappear and allow you to continue forward.
Your path will weave throughout the courtyard until you eventually find yourselfclimbing a ladder up toward a Tir Na Nog.There is one final faerie in front of it that you’ll need to dispel before you enter.
Tir Na Nog - The Jest
This is a combat trial where you’ll need to face the clown you’ve been following all along. As expected, this jester has a few nasty cards up their sleeve, and you’ll need to contend with them all to achieve victory. Thankfully, you have Cheshire back to deal with him.
The clown will first conjure two minions that each have an elemental shield around them.So long as the shields remain, your attacks won’t do any damage.
There are somebomb flowersin the arena with you, butyou need to activate them first. In order to do that, you need time.
Summon Cheshire and place him between Cereza and the faeries. They’ll prioritize attacking him, giving Cereza enough time to activate both flowers (which will help you set up for Phase Two). Once both flowers are activated, use Wood Cheshire to throw the bombs at your enemy.
Unfortunately, targeting isn’t necessarily easy here, so you should put enough space between you and the faeries to give you time to throw the bombs in the right direction. Once a faerie’s shield is down, you can start Slashing and Chomping.
In Phase Two, the clown will get down and dirty with you personally. He’ll summon two more minions, and all three will have a shield.
It’s recommended todeal with the minions first and then focus on the jester.Thankfully, the bomb flowers don’t need to be reactivated, so Cereza can use her Thorn Bind here and focus on staying out of the line of fire.
With the enemies all defeated, proceed forward to free the wisp hanging nearby.Once he’s freed, you may pick up the petal in the chest and proceed forward to leave the Tir Na Nog.
The wisp will follow you, but keep in mind that it will not count toward your collection of wisps just yet. There’s one more step waiting for you…
Wisps
With the illusion fully dispelled, the many treasures of Faerieland are now available to you. The first is directlybehind the ladderyou must descend to explore this area. Break the pots to reach the chest hidden in the shadows.
In order to collect the rest of the items in this area, start by activating the bomb flowers you find and destroying the nearby boulders. Some boulders will reveal more bombflowers that you can use even further away.
By destroying boulders, there are two treasures to be found:
The resources are gathered easily enough by destroying all the boulders in the area (and should be done first), but the Inferno Fruit requires you todestroy the boulders on the far south and west side of this mapuntil you reach a cliffside. To the west, you’ll see some boulders up above youon a ledge.
You can either take the nearby bombflower as far as you can go against the cliffside and detonate it from the ground or send Cheshire up on the ledge and grab it from up there. Either way, destroy them and have Cheshire climb on the cliffside.
With Cereza following on the ground below, have Cheshire follow the path until he reaches a ledge where he can jump down.Instead of jumping, use his Grab on the bomb flower on the ground.Turn around with the bomb flower in your grasp to throw it at the nearby boulder pile, revealing an Inferno Flower beneath.
With this out of the way, continue east and then south until you reachthe entrance of Faerieland Tower at the top of the stairs. Now able togo left, destroy the brambles there and follow the path now available to you.
Cereza will need tojump across this section, and once you reach the other side, you’ll find some resources that Cheshire can collect in his Wood Form. However, more importantly, there is a crystal you can interact with in order to gain a Moon Pearl.
With your Moon Pearl in hand,go back down into the Faerieland main areaand north to rejoin with the pawprint path. This should lead you toa lever mechanismwhere the wisp you saved is pointing.
Pull the lever to lower the bridge. With the bridge now accessible to you, pause for a moment totalk to the wispand add him to your catalog of collected wisps.
Afterward, you’re able to go ahead andcross the bridgeto enter the Sanctuary, where you can make use of your Inferno Fruit and Moon Pearl, should you have the resources to spare.
Climbing the rope neton the far side of this area, you’ll find a Journal piece on the other side. Collect that beforeheading right.Follow the path, ignoring the foreboding train that may startle you on the way, and dip under the gate to continue.
x2 (Illusion; Off the Rails)
Now in a main circular area, you’ll notice the raised bridge in front of you. Your goal now is to lower this, sohead to the left and descend the stairs.
Note the glowing blue pawprints that lead to the ledge. This is your hint to walk in this direction andnotice the handleon the mechanism in front of you.Use Wood Cheshireto Grab this and keep it pulled taut.Don’t let go until Cereza is positioned exactly on the open back of the mechanism.
Once you let go, Cereza will be launched forward and land on the far platform. Cheshire will be left behind, so you’ll need todo this next section sneakily.
Continue past the train andgo up the flight of stairsat the next dead end to reach a lever.Pulling that leverwill lower the bridge and allow you to rejoin with Cheshire.
Cheshire now with you, you’re able to go ahead andtake on those nasty faeriesbullying the wisp. Defeat them andfree your new friend.
Before you go in the direction the wisp leads you in,take a short detour to your leftto defeat the faeries nearby. Once they’re dispatched, follow the train tracks to the end to find a Journal on the left side.
Now go back andmove the bottom train cart to the left with Wood Cheshiredirectly in front of the treasure chest on the upper platform not far south from the Journal piece.
Thenmove the upper train cart to the rightwith Wood Cheshire until it reaches the other platform with a chest on the far right side of the tracks. Have Cereza open that chest for some resources and thenstand on the train cart.
Cheshire can thenmove the train cart back left until it lines with the bottom train cart, giving you a bridge to the second chest. Opening this chest will give you a large number of resources.
Now go back to where the wisp was leading you on thefar right side of this area.It should lead you to a large gate mechanism.Talk with the wisp to open the gateand add the wisp to your inventory.
After opening the door, don’t miss out on the hidden resource chest on the path to the right of the gate.
Climbing the stairsinto this new area will trigger an Illusion Field. Several faeries will appear here, and to defeat them, you’ll need to firstdispel their magic before attackingwith Cheshire.
The closed quarters of this combat can be a little tricky, but your enemies are thankfully very slow in attacking and leave ample opportunity for Cheshire and Cereza to punish them.
Once you’ve made it to the top of the stairs, you’re ready toenter the next Tir Na Nog.
Tir Na Nog - Illusion
This Tir Na Nog has no puzzles, and it ispurely a combat trial. The combat, however, introduces magesthis time around. They can conjure traps on the ground and strike with lightning.
To get the upper hand here, you’ll want to constantly be on the move.Bind any enemy mages that are on the sidelines so they don’t call down lightning on Cheshire while he’s dealing damage to another enemy. Having Multi-Bind here is highly recommended.
Once all the mages are dealt with, you can take your prize and ascend even further into Faerieland Tower.
Ascending Faerieland Tower - Continued
Before going forward, take one moment to backtrackand jump off the path onto a platform on the left.Use Wood Cheshire to Grab the handle and move a platform all the way backonce Cereza is on so that she’s moved forward to a chest upon his release. Open it for resources and an Umbran Syrup before using Wood Cheshire to pull her platform back over and let her jump down.
Continue onto enter the next section of Faerieland Tower and note the Arcane Lantern here you can save at. Once you take a moment to rest,go right to find a Journal piece under the platformand just above the rail tracks.
Then,go around and up the stairsonto a raised platform where some fae will ambush you. There’s just the two, so deal with them before opening the chest.
Then, handle hidden behind a red, metal structureon the far right side of the wall, use Wood Cheshire topull down this wallsection and reveal a second chest with only one Umbran Syrup within.
Now go back on the main path andfollow the pawprintsall the way left until you reach a wisp and what very much looks like a trap.
Surprise! It is, and it comes with four enemies:
Defeat them all to free the wisp beforejumping off the platform to the left.Following this path will lead you to a train cart with a button on top of it.Activate this buttonto give you a climbable ramp.
Nowmove both train cartson these tracksto the far left platform. There’s a mage up here, so you may either defeat it now or wait and return for it in a moment. Either way, there’s a locked puzzle chest to solve if you’d like some more potions:
With this bulb defeated, the chest will be open to you. It shall grant you one of each potion (except a Healing Tonic).
Now go back to where the mage was - and defeat it if you haven’t yet. Before you progress past the gate, pull down the wallon the north side of this area (right of the gate) to reveal a path to you.
Use Hug Cheshire tojump acrossand find a wisp hanging by balloons ahead.Wood Cheshire needs to pull it down with his Grabto save it. Afterward, progress down the rest of the pathto find another chest of resources.
On the main pathagain, destroy the gatesin your waywith a simple Slash attackto progress. Using Hug Cheshire to jump over a few gaps along the way, you’ll eventually run into anightmare-fueltrain.
Run awayfrom the train.Pull down the leveralong the way while the train politely waits for you to do so, anddestroy a gate blocking your path with a Slash attack. Use Hug Cheshire tojump out of the wayat the end.
However, once you descend onto the path below, the train will reappear with a little extra pizzazz.
Sprint as fast as you candownward through the illusion field. There will be a few breakable gates along the way Cheshire will need to destroy, but once all three are destroyed, and you reach the end of the path, the train will disappear. You’ll be left standing next to an Arcane Lantern.
If you so wish, there aretwo paths to an optional Tir Na Nogwithin the illusion field in front of you. Either:
If not, follow the pawprints forward.
Tir Na Nog - Off The Rails (optional)
Unfortunately, we have not seen the last of the haunted trains just yet. Your entrance into this Tir Na Nog is greeted by two very large trains on either side of you. Your path will also eventually become a railroad track, and you’ll need todip off onto the platform on your leftas quickly as possible before you’re hit.
On this next platform area, this ground will turn into a railroad track as well, and the train will spawn behind you this time. Outrun it anddip off to the north.
Sprint acrossas fast as you can to avoid the trains that appear to the left and right of you. They’re very quick, so you can’t afford much hesitation here.
Once on the square platform area,go into the centerwith the red corners and stand there.Do not moveand watch as the trains circle around you, causing the platform to disappear.
In the next section, you’ll be suspended in this square as a train barrels toward you.
There will be aledge on your rightthat you canthrow Cheshire on. Do so, turning him into his Wood form, andhave him pull the handles on the chainsrestraining your small box. This will free you and send you plummeting into the next area.
Separated from Cheshire, the hardest part of the trial will be attempting to move each of your characters forward through a series of rapidly spawning trains that block your path. Don’t be disheartened if moving across this area takes you multiple tries on your first attempt.
A good strategy here is to take each spawning section one at a time and try to move Cereza and Cheshire at about the same rate forward. Don’t neglect one for too long.
Once you reach the end, place Cheshire and Cereza on their respective buttons. This will rejoin their path, and you can leave this Tir Na Nog with another Vitality Petal and - quite possibly - a fear of trains.
x4
x1 (Guidance)
If you’ve completed the optional Tir Na Nog, you may now cross over todescend a flight of stairsand find an Inferno Fruit sitting out in the open on thefar back left. No puzzles or traps this time. Go ahead and take it.
Also near the Inferno Fruit isa ladder you may use to create a shortcutback to the mid-section of Faerieland.
Starting from the Arcane Lantern you left before the Tir Na Nog,follow the pawprintsand take either the slide or the stairs down to enter the next, new area: The Watchtower. From here, go ahead andclimb the netall the way to the top.
If you’d like the chest you saw upon entering, go ahead andtake the slideat the top of this net back down. You’ll land right next to the chest (with an Umbran Syrup and rich resources), and after you claim it, you can climb right back up.
There’s a second netting, and you canclimb up it, but you’ll need to be careful. A train spawns on the track right where Cereza will lift herself onto the path, sowait until the train has passed for you to climb over the edge.
Now in the central area of the Watchtower, there’s a Remembrance directly ahead of you. Collect that and then, after the train has passed, run up the right path.
If you’d like a chest of resources with a Demonic Mist potion, instead of going up the tracks just yet, use the second tier of netting you climbed to get into this section. Climb over to the far left to find a hidden treasure chest.
Some faeries are in the area to the left of the tracks, sodefeat themwhile you’re waiting for the train nearby to pass. You can alsofree the wisphere too once the faeries are dealt with.
Waiting for the right moment, run up the tracks again toward a leverthat will lower the bridge. Pull it,cross over, and find the Arcane Lantern on the other side.
Instead of progressing just yet, kick down the ladderfor a shortcut back to the start of this small area.Climb the stairsto the area above the Arcane Lantern toopen a chestof resources, but beware of thefae inside that will ambush youwhen you attempt to open it.
Next, you canget a Moon Pearl by climbing onto the ledge next to the bridge. It is positioned just above the train. When the train spawns below you, jump on.
This can be a little tricky since the train only has two carts. To successfully jump on, you should time your jump to the moment the head of the train crosses in front of you.
Once the train goes around its second corner, it will slow down a bit.To your rightwill be a flower you’re able to use with Hug Cheshire tojump onto a platform. On this platform is the Moon Pearl.
Grab the pearl, jump back down, andcircle over to the ladder shortcutyou kicked down earlier.
Following the pawprint pathto another lever and bridge, open your path aheadafter the cutscene ends and cross over.
Your last Tir Na Nog of this chapter awaits you on the other side. Enter once you’re ready.
Tir Na Nog - Guidance
Upon entering the Tir Na Nog, your first challenge is acombat trial against two Bananachs. Having Multi-Bind here is incredibly useful as these enemies tend to group close to one another initially. Bind them and attack with Cheshire.
Defeating these Bananachs will grant you access to a wisp you’re able to free.Free it and open the gate.
On the other side, you’ll notice there are:
Approach one of the paths to separate with Cheshire and take on the path’s mini-puzzle challenge. It doesn’t matter which path you take first.
Left Path
The left path is lined with several timed fire plates. To progress, wait for the flames to die down before sending Cereza across.
On the third plate, just before the gate, instead of going from right to left,go down to the ledgewhere you can jump.Down there, you’ll find another wisp you can save.
Once again, you’ll need toprogress down and rightthrough a set of three fire plate puzzles (with the last being two plates instead of one). However, this time you have a companion.
Your wisp friend will follow you across, so you’ll need to keep in mind thatyou need enough time to cross for both of you. This is easily accomplished by going across a plate as soon as the fire dies down and repeating each one.
The last set of fire plates will require you to stand on the first when the fire dies and quickly run through the second once that fire has also died down.
Climb the stairs to the gate, andopen itwhen prompted. Your new wisp friend will go join the other at the main gate.
Right Path
As you enter this path, you’ll notice a large carnivorous plant along your route.Bind it and hold as you run past it.
Once you do so, you’ll need tojump down and free the wispyou find in the next area. As you do, he’ll join you as a companion (same as in the Left Path). You’ll have to escort him now back to the main area.
Bind the first floweryou find around the corner and hold it as you quickly run past with your new buddy.
Your very last challenge in this easy path is torun across an opening and closing flower.Just run across after the flower has opened and open the gate on the other side for your wisp to join their friends at the big gate.
End Of The Puzzle
With all three wisps gathered together, you are now able toopen the large gate. Interact with it for your three friends to open the way for you. Collect Cheshire and go through.
All three friends following closely behind you, your next challenge is to run across a long bridge with several laser turrets firing in timed intervals.
Just like with the fire plates, wait to cross until right after the turrets have fired. Then, wait for the next turret to fire before running forward again. Repeat this several times until you are brought to a large combat arena.
Your wisp friends will stop following you in here, so you don’t need to worry about taking part in combat with them in the way. Instead, focus on the simple two enemies of the first wave. Defeat them in order totrigger the mini-boss.
Gog-Magog is atanky enemywith a high health pool who can deal a healthy chunk of damage if you let him hit you. Thankfully, however,he is quite slow and all his moves are telegraphedby an obvious blue line on the ground.
Thorn Bind himwith Cereza anduse a series of Bind Combosto make quick work of him. There are no minions to worry about, so you’re able to focus all your attention on dealing as much damage as you can.
With Gog-Magog out of the way, enjoy your cutscene before collecting your reward and leaving the Tir Na Nog.
Potions
x1 (Blast Cocktail)
Upon your return to The Watchtower, you cancollect a few chestson the platform around you for some resources beforefollowing Colm and the other wisps. He’ll lead you down a series of slides. Follow him all the way to the bottom.
At the bottom, take one moment to grab the nearby Journal within sight. Then,to the right of the platform at the bottom of the slide, you’ll notice a path that leads toa locked chest:
Unlocking the chest will grant you several resources and a Blast Cocktail.
With all items gathered, follow Colminto the Forgotten Knoll for a lengthy cutscene.
Another Journal can be found once the cutscenes ends just right of Colm and beneath a slide.
With the Knoll now unlocked, your wisps will gather in this area after you rescue them. Returning here occasionally may grant you rewards if you speak to Colm, so keep it in mind as you move into the fifth chapter.
