Cereza Looking Out Over Morgana’s Home

Although Chapter One and Chapter Two are cutscene-heavy, the controls and information gathered in these back-to-back chapters are crucial to your future success. You’ll meet the characters necessary to your journey, learn several spells and controls necessary for your victory, and perhaps discover some secrets that may change your fate…

Morgana’s Home Tutorial

Chapter One is spent in Morgana’s home, and you’ll have to complete a series of easy, small tasks to become more familiar with the game’s controls. Thistutorial section, if you will, consists of two chores you’ll need to complete:

The first is easy enough. After you speak with Morgana the first time, head toward the far east side of the map and interact with the wellwhen prompted. Afterward, return to Morganawith your bucket full of water. Don’t worry; it’s not possible to spill it.

Cereza Pulling Handle To Fetch Water At Well

Your next task will require you to headtoward the well and instead go southwhen the path splits at the dead end. This path will take you to thegarden of herbs, where you canuse your Witch’s Pulse on each of the plants. You can do this by holding L2 and tapping your right joystick in the direction of the crescent moons as they appear.

Once you grow the final herb, it will sprout out of the earth and begin to run away.Capture it by holding L2in its direction to use your Thorn Bind attack.

Dancing To Raise Herbs In Morgana’s Herb Garden

Once this is done, you can take your bucket of herbs up the north path (the path you didn’t take to get here) and jump off the ledge for a shortcutback to Morgana. Afterward, you’ll need to sit through a series of long cutscenes to progress to the next chapter.

Whispering Path

The Whispering Path is very straightforward. As there is only one path forward in the early progression, stick to it anduse your Witch’s Pulse where neededto grow flowers you can climb onto to reach higher areas.

Eventually, there will be an option to split in your path (heading forward or going right). Going right will lead you to a dead end of flowers you can grow for some extra Onyx Roses.

Cereza Entering Avalon Forest To Begin Chapter 2 Into the Unknown

Once you’ve done this, you can head back and jump off the ledge onto the main path.

You’ll come across a large carnivorous plant.Use Witch’s Pulse to bind it with thorns, holding down L2 as you sneak to the right to farm some more Onyx Roses. Once you’ve collected them, re-bind the plant and continue holding L2 as you cross over to the left path.

Cereza Using Thorn Bind On A Carnivorous Plant

Going in this direction will send you through a cutscene that will drop you off into an area with an Arcane Lantern where you can save your game.

The purple flower bushes in this area can be run through for a chance to gain either Onyx or Avalon crystals (and, later, concocting materials).

Large Cheshire Attacking Brambles To Destroy Them

Going ahead, you’ll be introduced to Cheshire. He moves like Cereza, but you now have access to aSlash Attack(R2). Carry on with Cheshire byattacking the bramblesto destroy them until you reach a clearing whereseveral faeries will jump you.

Attack them with Cheshire to knock them out, switching targets when they’re incapacitated to avoid being overwhelmed. Once they’re dispatched, you’ll go through another cutscene to gain access to controlling both Cereza and Cheshire.

Cereza Beside Cheshire Using Witch’s Pulse To Create Bridge

The two cannot be apart long, so be aware of how you maneuver them. Take a moment to grab the resources in the flower bushes to your left and thenactivate the bridge flower ahead using Witch’s Pulse.

Across the way, climb the incline hereand use Cheshire to attack the flower hanging over the chasm for some extra resources before carrying on with another bridge flower Cereza must activate.

Cheshire Destroying Brambles To Avoid Rosemary

Rosemary will block your path forward.Cheshire cannot walk through or approach Rosemary, so Cheshire will need tosplit with Cereza to take the far right path.

Follow it, moving Cereza a little further on her own path to keep the two close, until you reacha bridge flower Cereza can activate across the gapfor Cheshire to rejoin her.

Using Hug Mode Cheshire To Jump Across With Green Flower

Ahead will be another giant carnivorous flower.Use Cereza’s Thorn Bind to render it immobile before sending Cheshire in to finish the job.

Afterward, you’ll find some flowers you may farm for resources before continuing on to another carnivorous flower you should repeat the previous strategy on.

Cheshire Thrown Onto Ledge Above Rosemary

Going across the vine bridge, you’ll be thrown through another cutscene before gaining the ability to use Cheshire’s “Hug Mode.” This will allow you to carry Cheshire, jump with green flowers, and throw him up onto ledges.

Stop at the Arcane Lantern to save, farm the two flower patches here for more resources, anduse Hug-Cheshire to launch-jump yourselfonto the ledges above on the north side of this area. You can do this by:

Patches of Rosemary will render it impossible for Cheshire to continue with you, so follow the prompts tothrow Cheshire up onto the ledge above. Maneuvering Cheshire down the central path along the Avalon crystals and Cereza in the same direction,

Jumping down from here will triggeran encounter with several faeries.Use Cereza’s Thorn Bind where possibleto stun enemies and have Cheshire attack them.

Keep in mind that Cereza’s cooldown for her spells is quite slow at this point, and her health makes her a liability. A winning strategy will have Cereza far away from the combat and Cheshire as the focal point.

Once you’ve defeated the faeries, you’ll receive your first Healing Tonic in the chest. This opens up the ability to heal Cereza and the ability to concoct potions at Arcane Lanterns.

In the next area, use Cheshire to jump forward in Hug Mode and then immediatelythrow him over into the area on your right. Here, send Cheshire toward the carnivorous flower that Cereza can then thorn bind on her side.

After it’s bound, send Cheshire in to defeat it. Then, timing the opening and closing flowers ahead, send Cheshire around to flank the next enemy flower. When he’s close enough, Cereza can thorn-bind it for Cheshire to attack.

Next, throw Cheshire in Hug Mode onto the ledge ahead. you may move both of them parallel to one another on their respective paths until they wrap around and converge again.

Jump across the series of three green flowers totrigger a minigamethat will allow you touse Hug-Cheshire to stretch out and collect crystals.

Send him out to the left and right with your Right Joystick as you see the crystals to grab them. You don’t need to worry about balancing Cereza in the meantime, so it’s a stress-free free-for-all.

Jump down into the following area filled with rabbits and take a moment tohead south and climb down the mushroom ladder. Here, you can find some flowers to grow for Onyx Roses. Climb back up into the bunny grove andproceed just a bit forward to be met with a Sanctuary.

Here, you’ll gain some concocting materials and have the chance to save your game and concoct a potion at the Arcane Lantern. Continuing ahead, theWhite Wolfwill appear. Follow it to find a new area called “Jade Hill."

Jade Hill

Blue pawprints will appear on the ground and lead your way, but after following it up the path a small ways, you’ll see alarge bundle of thorns off to your left.

Send Cheshire and Cereza down a bit todestroy the thorns and find a chestwith a Blast Cocktail within.

Go ahead back to the path with the pawprintsand, after the short cutscene, press forward through the barrier.

Once your brace is activated and you’re able to dispel illusions, follow the prompt todispel the illusion on the flower on the north side of your screen, to the left of the one that can be destroyed by Cheshire.

Once the illusion is dispelled, you canuse your Witch’s Pulse on it to create a bridge across.

Once met with a rainbow-colored barrier, follow the cutscene’s advice touse magic and then walk forwardto pass through.

This is a Tir Na Nog.

Tir Na Nog - Jade Hill Dungeon

This small dungeon requires you to destroy its heart at the end. Completing these challenges will grant you great rewards and allow you to replay them to retry them or take on a Time Challenge when stopping at Arcane Lanterns.

Once within this Tir Na Nog, go forward into the main chamber andturn left to face a glass-like wall.Cheshire canbreak it with an attack, and afterward, you can throw him in Hug Mode up above. Have himbreak the crystalthere to open the main gain.

Return to the central path and go through the main gateto stop at the treasure chest to get some resources and then go forward.

Split with Cheshireto send him on the opposite path and climb the stairs at the same time as Cereza to get all possible resources before walking into an enemy’s arena.

The enemy will begin with a ranged attack that you cancounter with Cheshire. Afterward, it’ll be stunned, so race forward to attack it quickly. As you do, three more enemies will spawn around you. Counter when you see their beams on screen, and take an aggressive position.

Cereza should Thorn Bind any third party off on their own to prevent anyone sneaking past Cheshire while he deals with the rest. Once they’re dealt with, rush over to help Cereza with the final enemy.

After you’ve picked up your resource reward, head left to a moving crystal.Bind it with your Thorns and have Chesire destroy it.Then, move to the rightto find another path.

Here is a small puzzle where you’ll need firstCheshire on the platformand, once in position,Cereza on the buttonto raise it. Have him destroy the crystal before coming back down andswitching roles with Cerezaso she can go onto the ledgeto open the chest for another Blast Cocktail.

Nowgo down the central pathonto the stairs and up to the chest. Inside, you’ll find a Vitality Petal - one of five pieces needed to increase your health.

Split with Cheshire againafterward and climb the stairs (one on either set) to get all the resources on your ascent.

Jump down onto the lunar platformand wait for the bridge to form before running across. You’ll find a circle here with a prompt touse your Witch’s Pulse. Do so, and then, once the crystal is formed, have Cheshire break it.

With this done, you will have completed the trial and the second chapter, returning you to a much-changed Jade Hill.
