The latest update forCall of Duty Modern Warfare 2andWarzone 2, Season 3, has introduced a lot of exciting new features, but also a frustrating bug on PC. According to recent reports on social media, the problem has been affecting players with AMD Vega GPUs ever since the start of Season 3 on April 12. Players have been experiencing crashes after booting both games up, getting an error message to the effect that “DirectX encountered an unrecoverable error.”
The studio responsible for porting the two games to PC, Beenox, has already acknowledged the issue, noting that investigations into the cause of the crash are currently in progress. The company also added that a team is actively working to resolve the problem. “We’re investigating a crash on boot affecting AMD Vega users on Warzone 2 and Modern Warfare 2,” Beenoxpointed out on Twitter. “The team is actively working to get it fixed.”

The community is, on the other hand, still waiting for a solution to the problem and frustration has clearly been growing, players having gone so far as tostart a petitionpleading for a resolution to the issue or a refund for the game, one even taking to the unusual measure of sending a pizza to Beenox’s office with a request for help written right on the box. “I had a pizza delivered to Beenox with a message on the box saying ‘help Vega, please’ because I don’t know what else to do,” the desperate player explained on Reddit.
While some have gotten behind this rather strange approach to the problem, others are skeptical that sending a pizza will eventually result in a successful outcome. “I truly admire your tenacity. I really do. Every day you make posts to help us desperate Vegabros. Thank you,” a user on the same platform replied. “That pizza sat there then got thrown in the bin by a receptionist that doesn’t know what Vega or even a graphics card is,” another user commented. “Send me some dollars and I’ll figure out a more effective way.”
The bugs and glitches that frequently accompany major updates are not uncommon in the games industry and developers normally work hard to resolve such problems as quickly as possible. This particular problem has clearly proven difficult to fix, meaning that players with Vega GPUs could be in for something of a long wait.
