Now thatBreath of the Wildhas been in the hands of players for more than six years at this point, it’s a game that’s no stranger to a challenge run or two. In an effort to make the game they’ve played a hundered times more challenging, many players have given themselves limitations on how they play, what items they can use, and so on. However, you’ll struggle to find a challenge run more outlandish than the one that Breath of the Wild streamer Mimi has just completed, who has played the game from beginning to end with an Ocarina.First shared byIGN, Mimi has been playing the ocarina to control Link in Breath of the Wild, with different notes corresponding to different actions. It’s like all those other challenge runs you’ll have come across where people control characters with their voice, but it’s an instrument in Mimi’s case. She’s been documenting her experience via her Twitter account, sharing certain moments and landmarks events in Breath of the Wild that proved quite difficult on her run.Related:Tears Of The Kingdom Is Just Garry’s Mod Meets BOTW And I Can’t WaitJust like with any challenge run of this type, things started off pretty rough. Mimi started her run last month and struggled to complete fairly simple (simple for people with a controller anyway) shrine puzzles. Slowly but surely, she kept making her way through the game, taking down many tough enemies like Guardians along the way.

However, the skills kept growing, and Mimi was soon making progress at an impressive pace, first taking down Thunderblight Ganon after a gruelling six hours. Waterblight, Windblight, and Fireblight Ganon all soon fell to Mimi’s ocarina, who even stopped off to beat some overworld bosses like a Lynel and Hinock on the way.

All that effort finally led up to a truly momentous clash with Calamity Ganon, who Mimi quickly dispatched now that her ocarina skills were at an all time high. She then took down Dark Beast Ganon quickly afterwards, bringing her extremely impressive challenge run to an end, becoming the only known person to have beaten the game with an ocarina.

Of course, like any gamer fond of their challenge runs, Mimi is already askingwhat game people would like to see her complete next, listing off a number of different potential instruments as controllers. If you want to watch Mimi’s future hijinks, you cango check out her Twitch channel here, which will hopefully soon feature a trombone controlled Twilight Princess challenge run. That’s my vote, anyway.
