Elden Ringis an unquestionable masterpiece, with hundreds of boss fights to test your skills and show you that death is just a bump in the road toward victory. Still, even if Elden Ring is massive and offers hundreds of hours of exploration, FromSoftware is currently working on a DLC to expand its epic adventure, Shadow of the Erdtree.

While we don’t know for sure what the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC has in store for fans, we can be confident that it will feature many adrenaline-inducing boss fights. Here are the bosses we would like to see in Shadows of the Erdtree.

A Godskin Apostle and a Godskin Noble side by side in Elden Ring

10New Types Of Godskin

In theory, the Godskin bosses are great. Both theGodskin Apostle and the Godskin Noblehave unique movesets that force you to master Elden Ring combat and improve your skills. Plus, these enemies master the Black Flame, a dangerous force born from the Rune of Death and capable of hurting even the Demigods.

Unfortunately, the threat the Godskin bosses impose diminishes as they are reused multiple times to block your path in the Lands Between. So, adding new variants to the Godskin Boss can give more meaning to this significant faction.

9The Twinbird

The Elden Beast is an envoy of the Greater Will tasked with enforcing the cosmic entity’s rule in the Lands Between. However, the Greater Will is not the only being to send envoys to distant places. For instance, the Deathbirds and Death Rite Birdsare creations of the Twinbird, the envoy of an unnamed Outer God connected to the concept of Death.

During your adventure in the Lands Between, you will fight the children of the Twinbird, but there’s no clue about their whereabouts. Some items depict the Twinbird as a phoenix-like bird with two heads, a design that could be used for an epic boss battle.

8The Formless Mother’s Envoy

Another mysterious Outer God fighting for control of the Lands Between is the Formless Mother, the entity who whispers in Mogh’s ear and guides him in building his blood cult. Also known as the Mother of Truth, the Formless Mother power transforms blood into a boiling weapon capable of damaging those who oppose her ruling.

Since there’s no information about the Formless Mother’s creation, FromSoftware can get creative in the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC and design a unique boss battle with a colossal creature. The envoy of the Formless Mother would, of course, master the Bloodflame.

7The Outer God Of Rot

While cosmic entities usually influence the Lands Between through others, one Outer God came in person to this coveted place, the Outer God of Rot. Nothing is known about the arrival of the Outer God of Rot and the threat it posed to the Lands Between.Elden Ring’s item descriptionsonly tell us that a blind swordsman sealed away its essence in the Lake of Rot.

The state of the Lake of Rot indicates that the Outer God of Rot is working to weaken their prison and escape, slowly spreading its rotten influence below Liurnia. In addition, the Outer God of Rot manifests its will through Malenia, who’s fated to become the Goddess of Rot. Rot is one of the most dangerous substances in the world of Elden Ring, so we can only imagine what a boss fight would look like if the Outer God of Rot escaped.

6The Gloam-Eyed Queen

The Gloam-Eyed Queen was an Empyrean who used the Rune of Death to teach her followers how to master the Black Flame. Together with her Godskin supporters, the Gloam-Eyes Queen began a crusade against the Demigods that put Marika at risk. Marika sent her shadow Maliketh, to take care of the Gloam-Eyed Queen. Maliketh was successful, eventually sealing the Rune of Death in his own flesh.

What’s curious about this story is that the item descriptions connected to the Gloam-Eyed Queen say that she was “defeated” by Maliketh. There’s no mention of her death, so she might be lurking in the shadows and waiting for the right opportunity to seize power. So she could make a return in the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC.

Godwyn’s corpse in the Deeproot Depths in Elden Ring

5Godwyn, Prince Of Death

After the Night of the Black Knives, Godwyn’s soul was killed so that Ranni could shed her mortal shell and defy the Greater Will. Godwyn’s soulless body was buried under the Capital, where it slowly decayed into a putrefying creature that spreads through underground roots and gives birth to Those Who Live in Death.

In the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC, FromSoftware could give us a boss fight against the Prince of Death. Since Godwyn is the origin of the Death Blight that threatens to consume the world, maybe the DLC will give you the tools you need to destroy him and save the Lands Between from the curse of Death.

Death Blight instantly kills those who get in touch with it for too long. This substance also brings the dead back to life and condemns them to a cursed existence.

4Demigods In Their Prime

Your primary mission in Elden Ring is to hunt down theSharebeares, mighty Demigods who hold major pieces of the Elden Ring. However, some of the Demigods you face are just pale versions of their former glory. Radahn, for instance, had his mind corroded by the rot and became a mindless cannibal. Malenia, on the other hand, has already lost three limbs and her sight to the rot that slowly eats her flesh.

Since FromSoftware has a tradition of introducing time-traveling elements in its DLCs, Shadows of the Erdtree could take you to the past to face the Demigods in their prime. There could be rematches with more powerful versions of Radahn and Malenia, but you could also fight Godwyn before his death. Since Godwyn felled mighty dragons by himself, he must have been a formidable adversary to face.

3Miquella’s And Malenia’s Shadows

Demigods who are deemed powerful enough are granted the title of Empyreans. Empyreans are beings who have the potential to become gods and decide the fate of the world according to the cosmic entities who use them. Marika, for instance, became a god for the Greater Will, while the Formless Mother is trying to get ahold of Miquella to start a new dynasty.

To prevent Empyreans from betraying it, the Greater Will gives each Empyrean a shadow, a mighty warrior who protects the Empyrean but who’s tasked with killing them if they defy their master.Marika’s shadow was Maliketh, andRanni’s was Blaidd. However, even though we know Miquella and Malenia are Empyreans, we never see their shadows. The Twins’ shadows could become a savage boss battle in the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC.

2Marika

Marika and Radagon are two parts of the same being, the god who hosts the Elden Ring. While their relationship is not always clear in Elden Ring’s lore, you fight Radagon as one of the two final bosses in the game. As a mighty warrior,Radagon is quite challenging. However, the fight against the defender of the Golden Order makes us wonder how Marika would fare on the battlefield.

Marika is one of the most powerful beings in the Lands Between and the mother of several Demigods you face. So, it’s fair to assume she could also stand her ground against a mere Tarnished. If the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC adds new endings, FromSoftware might remix the ending of Elden Ring and make Marika an optional boss fight.

1Miquella

Miquella is a mysterious Demigod, said to be loved by all. However, some item descriptions paint Miquella as a manipulative being. The Bewitching Branch consumable, for instance, is used to pierce a foe and force it to fight for use for a short amount of time. The description of the item says:

“The Empyrean Miquella is loved by many people. Indeed, he has learned very well how to compel such affection.”

This ominous description teases that Miquella is mind-controlling his faithful servants. There’s also a lot of evidence to support the theory that Miquella and St. Trina are the same person. If that gets confirmed, Miquella could use mind-slaves and sleep spells against you in an eventual boss fight, a thrilling challenge to overcome.
