Blue Protocolhas something that not a lot of video games bother with these days:a full-on introductory cinematic. And not just any old cinematic–it’s a three-minute intro that looks like it was ripped from an anime adaptation of the game. It showcases all the characters you’ll meet in the game, some of its major locations, and gives a cryptic overview of Blue Protocol’s story. Basically, everything you’d expect from a traditional anime intro.

Fans also think that the intro might have previewed some upcoming classes for Blue Protocol. Currently, the game has five classes, which include the Blue Warden (knight, melee tank), the Keen Strider (ranger, bow DPS), the Twin Striker (berserker, dual axe DPS), the Spell Weaver (mage, ranged elemental support), and the Foe Breaker (weird hybrid DPS/tank/crowd control thing–seriously, it defies all traditional fantasy RPG categories).

As noted in a thread from Reddit userSen-_, there might be four new classes coming to Blue Protocol. The anime trailer shows Charlotte the Diva shooting a submachine gun, perhaps previewing a gun-focused class. Tyris is shown wielding twin swords, which might hint at an assassin-style class. Carvain’s polearm sure looks a lot like a dragoon or lancer class from other JRPGs, and Feste is holding a bottle with what might be a picture of an animal on the front, possibly hinting at a beast tamer class.

The very first image features Einrain the priestess casting a big spell that seems to summon a giant crystal. That could be the first hint at a summoner class, although with Einrain’s holy background, she could just as easily be previewing a cleric class.

We have to point out that this is all just speculation at this point, but there are hints in datamines of the ongoing network test that Bandai Namco plans to add more classes to Blue Protocol, we just don’t know what they are yet.

Blue Protocol’s network test ran from March 31 to April 2and was only open to Japanese players. The test allowed players to create a character, experience the first story chapter, fight in the arena, and take part in event raids. you may play up to level 20 and adventure rank 4, with players encouraged to try out each class to provide their feedback. A closed worldwide beta has been promised but hasn’t been announced yet.

Blue Protocol is expected sometime in the second half of 2023. It’ll be available to play on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam.
