Portal Pile is the first of many more Lost Legends to come inMinecraft Legends. These Lost Legends are meant to be a different take on how to play the game. They are essentially mini-challenges that offer rewards, like cosmetics, for you to complete on a monthly basis. And they are completely free to download.

You’re tasked withdefending a single villagesurrounded by three Nether portals that spawn all kinds of enemies. After 20 waves, you’ve completed Portal Pile and have earned bragging rights, but it isn’t as easy as it sounds.

8Play Co-Op

The easiest way to complete Portal Pile is to do it with a group. It can be a daunting task to defeat the waves of piglins alone. If you did the campaign with three others, invite them to do the Lost Legend and watch as your defenses are rarely breached.

Having multiple people allows all three portals to be watched and then a floater to accomplish other tasks. They can help defend an area, work on resource gathering, or simply move around the map to relay information to the rest of you.

7Fortify The Fountain

The Fountain is the main goal. While your defenses on the outer edge of the village can do the trick, it is always a good idea to have a backup. If the Fountain is destroyed, you lose. It’s that simple. So fortify it heavily.

Add a couple of layers of walls going out from it, and they can act as a last line of defense. Put a Carpenter’s Shed nearby to have constant repair happening to the walls and the Fountain itself, and the littlest setup can give you enough time to regroup and save yourself from a loss.

6Don’t Place Spawners Close Together

Spawners are useful for creating theunits that you’ll lead into battle. They have another purpose, however. You can use spawners as a valuable transportation tool since there is an option on every spawner that allows you to recall all of your spawned units to that specific location.

If you place every spawner right next to each other, you won’t cover many areas, so instead, spread them throughout the map. If piglins are pushing one spot and you have to get there quickly, you might not be able to grab all of your forces on the way, and if a spawner is nearby, you’re able to get your entire army there in a matter of seconds.

5Clutter The Paths From The Portals

Piglins are ruthless in Minecraft Legends. So ruthless that they will attack every single unit or structure they come into contact with.

You can use that to your advantage when taking on the Portal Pile challenge. It is easy to manipulate their attacks in your favor.

Various buildings and structures surround the Fountain and block piglins in Minecraft Legends.

Once the Portal Pile session begins, look for the three nether portals. After creating your initial defenses, start to clutter the pathway from the portal to the Fountain.

Place random walls, buildings, or other structures, and the piglins will stop to destroy it. This delays them for you to move your units to fight or for you to add more defenses past that point.

4Masonry Is Essential

Once you have earned the Masonry building, you need to use it, as it turns nearby wooden structures into stone, making them that much stronger. Don’t forget that you have it and end up with weak wooden walls throughout your entire Portal Pile playthrough.

Don’t waste resources putting a Masonry building near any of the non-essential defensive locations, though. Put one on the first line of walls you have built, and put another near the Fountain defenses, making sure the most important areas are the ones that benefit.

3Use Towers As Secondary Walls

As you get further into Portal Pile, you’ll startearning resourcesmore quickly. Arrow towers will be extremely cheap in the later waves and can act as secondary wells, so place them behind walls or use them to clog up a hole that was just created.

As the piglins break down a section of your wall, interrupt their advances with a quick arrow tower, and they’ll immediately begin attacking it.

Unlike other structures, though, this one will fight back. You’ll have time to make a plan to stop them while they are taking damage from the arrow tower.

2Make Songbook Changes

It is easy to get lost in the chaos that is Portal Pile. It is a completely different experience than what you’ll face in PVP or the Minecraft Legends campaign.

Keep a clear head while you play and make sure youcheck for upgradesas frequently as possible.

The Songbook melodies that you begin with will not lead you to victory. You will unlock other types of spawners, buildings, and abilities.

You absolutely must check for new Songbook melodies and replace the weaker ones with the more powerful ones that will help you win.

1Visit The Chest

The most important thing you can do in Portal Pile is consistently check the village chest. This is something you need to prioritize as there are only 15 seconds between waves, and it refills after every single way, so make it a focus to run over and loot it.

This gives you additional resources just for completing the wave, but if the chest is full, you won’t see any more rewards added to it until you’ve emptied it. Get in there, open it up, and gain the resources necessary to push back the hordes of piglins.
