The world ofMinecraftis filled with uncertainty and adventure. Anywhere you go, you will have a new spectrum of possibilities and creativity. As a newbie in the game, you might not know that the unique in-game geographical terrains spread throughout the world are known as biomes, and are distinguishable by features, views, and uses.

As a new player, the first thing you might need is a beginner base to call home and get inside at night. But, it’s not always easy to find that perfect patch of land, or water, to build. Although every biome has its own set of unique features, some biomes take it easy on you as a new player and let you settle in while providing a picturesque view.

10Mushroom Fields

This mycelium-covered flat biome with scattered huge/giant mushroom trees is a delight to the eyes of every Minecraft player. This biome generally checks most of the boxes to support easy survival. With easily available food sources in Mooshroom cows and Mushroom trees, rare hostile mob spawns, and beautiful landscapes, there are plenty of reasons to make theMushroom Field biomeyour home.

However, because of the rarity of this biome, its isolated spawn locations tend to be covered on all sides by deep ocean, and along with a lack of wood, a core early game material, this might not be the best place for your first base.

9Badlands Plateau

These multicolored flat-top mountains made up of Terracotta are hard to miss. The scenery you will get from the balcony of your base here can be a sight to cherish. Although there’s not a lot of wood and water around, theabundance of goldand the high probability of stumbling upon Mineshafts can easily make up for it.

Explore a bit, and you might find patches of vegetation and grand rivers. However, you must keep the number of hostile mobs in check with torches, lanterns andother light sourcesas soon as you can.

8Taiga

The Taiga might seem like an ideal location to build, and with the abundance of spruce wood, passive mobs, and easy terrains, it is indeed one of the most effective early-game build locations. You can chop off a few trees to create enough room and then use the gorgeously textured spruce wood for your home.

However, there are downsides to this biome like any other, the most significant being the thick forest cover, which might get you lost easily and, at the same time, act as hostile mob spawning zones.

7Dark Forest

This thick Forest biome variant is not the easiest when it comes to early game survival. Dense vegetation with extensive forest-ceiling blocks enough sunlight to allow hostile mobs to spawn in the daytime too. Furthermore, the extensive amount of trees acts like a maze you are not expected to come out of easily.

However, several distinct features like the abundance of wood resources, availability of a flat canopy, and generous passive mob spawn tempt players to build bases here. The cherry on top is the spawn of Woodland Mansions, which are unique to this biome.

6Beach

You might immediately recognize a Minecraft beach as a transition between the mainland and the oceans. Apart from the scenic views, the low yet sufficient nearby vegetation spawn and largely easy terrains to build a starter base on are some of the great characteristics of this biome. Additionally, easy ocean access provides an effortless source of food, and once you have a boat, exploration of your Minecraft world can start in full swing.

However, the sand and gravel spread all over can be a headache when mining. Also, passive mobs, apart from Turtles, do not spawn naturally.

5Birch Forest

This Forest biome variant, as the name suggests, is filled with Birch trees. Birch Log is generally regarded as one of the finesttypes of woodtextures in Minecraft and is often used when building bases. The Birch Forest is not as dense as the Dark Forest, reducing the number of hostile mobs in the daytime. You can clear out trees to have an area wide enough for an early-game base, further reducing mob spawns.

However, there are no mobs unique to this biome, and clearing out the wood can be frustrating.

4Savanna

Savannas in Minecraft are characterized by vast open and flat terrains with sufficient Acacia and Oak trees scattered all around. It’s the only biome where you can find both Horses and Llamas spawning naturally. Additionally, it never rains in Savannas, so you can be away from the frustrating thunderstorms. Also, large chunks of open land with dry-looking landscapes provide an awesome area for early-game as well as a sophisticated base.

However, beware of the Pillagers as their outposts are not a rare occurrence in Savanna and they are incredibly deadly, especially to a newcomer.

3Meadow

These high-altitude grassy flatlands are a delight to live in. With an abundance of passive mobs, as well as enough vegetation, and flowers, you’ll find this biome extremely easy and delightful to build an early-game base. Resources are not an issue around here.

However, this attracts other hostile beings as well. Be ready to spot Pillager Outposts and an abundance of creepers, skeletons, and zombies. And more often than not, you’ll find yourself falling down to your doom from the steep mountain cliffs, so watch out.

2Flower Forest

This variant of the Forest biome can mesmerize you at first sight with its various colorful flower types spread all across the terrain. Unlike other Forest biomes, this one has large open flat land with fewer trees, keeping hostile mobs in check during the daytime. Furthermore, with so many flowers, you’re able to be assured of never running out of dyes.

However, keep in mind that Blue Orchids, Wither Roses, and Sunflowers do not spawn in this flowery fairyland. The only reason it’s not at the very top of this list is because of the rare spawn chance of this biome, and hence, finding one will make you a “Lucky Minecrafter.”

1Plains

A Plains biome is, hands down, the most player-friendly in the game, and this fact is almost unanimously accepted across the fanbase globally.

This classic terrain is one of the earliest to be added to the game and it has all the basic necessities covered. From abundant food sources to trees and from the flat ground to the water bodies, you can find it all. While here, you can spot Ravines, Cave entrances, and Lava Springs. Just keep thehostile mobpopulation in check, build your base, and Happy Minecrafting.
