With any video game, there are sure to be one or two little hidden details or easter eggs for those perceptive players to find. Well, it can be the same way for TV series, and that goes doubly so for TV series based on video games. Such asThe Last Of Us.

This heartbreaking drama in the guise of an apocalypse show has a lot of little easter eggs for those viewers who had played the games or those who were paying close attention to what the directors wanted to show us.
10Macho Nacho
There’s plenty of great places to eat in a mall food court, well, unless the mall has been defunct for a few years anyway.
Still, the sight of the Macho Nacho sign in the flashback episode featuring Ellie and Riley may have been interesting to some. It is a chain that pops up often in Naughty Dog’s games, especially The Last Of Us andUncharted.
9The Hidden Clicker
We may have gotten a fair share of infected as the show made its way, but some viewers with a keen eye may have seen a clicker far earlier on than others.
At the end of episode one, as the camera pans out across rainy and apocalyptic Boston, on top of one of the rooftops a clicker rages against the storm. Not only is this a creepy look at the infected in the Boston area, but a good hint at the troubles of Joel, Ellie, and Tess next episode too.
8Joel’s Guitar
Fans of the series know Joel is big fan of music. Although maybe not the best singer, he is pretty good with the guitar.

In episode one,while Sarah is in his room, A guitar can be seen against the far wall. Not only does this set up a lot of dialogue for the first season but also some key emotional events that we played through in the second part of the game as well.
7Farmhouse
The background on Ellie’s immunity and also her mother were interesting and new pieces of lore for the universe.
It also brought a hint that might be very important later. The farmhouse her mother hides in to give birth looks all too similar to that of the farmhouse Dina and Ellie settle down at in the second game. Coincidence, or setting the scene for a return to the closest thing Ellie has to a family home?
6Giraffe Hints
The giraffe scene was a fan favorite in the first game, so it was to no surprise to see it show up in the series as well.
But, for those who were watching closely, there were a lot of hints towards the giraffes appearing before they even did. A plushy in the home where Ellie stayed at in Jackson and even a mural in the kids' ward of the hospital all hint at the animals showing up later on.
5Dawn Of The Wolf
While Twilight may not have been a big thing in this world just yet, they had the next best thing. None other than Dawn Of The Wolf.
Posters of which could be found across the games and even now on the marquis at the movie theater during the episode with Riley and Ellie. This is just another moment where the series pays homage to the game itself and the world it creates. Think of all those other great movies no one got to see because of the apocalypse.
4Shimmer
The episode in Jackson was full of easter eggs, especially hints toward the second game and potentially more seasons.
One such was a seemingly normal little foal that Ellie fell in love with on sight. Yes, this was none other than Shimmer, the mighty steed that Ellie and Dina ride into Seattle on their revenge mission. Granted she has a few years to grow up a bit, but no doubt she will be ready for her cross-country journey soon.
3Perry’s Death
There was definitely a lot going on in the last episode where the duo was in KC. Infected, bad guys, and heartbreak aplenty.

But, what some may not have realized was a certain death pointed back to an in-game death scene as well. Jeffrey Pierce’s character, the enforcer Perry, was brutally killed by having his head ripped off by the bloater. Which is the same way the bloater will kill Joel if he is caught by the creature in the game.
2Dreams Of Space
Throughout the series, we get a lot of background on Ellie and who she wanted to be if the world hadn’t fallen apart before she was born.
One such hint that also may do some heavy lifting for the next seasons is that of Sally Ride. The first American woman in space, she is somewhat of a hero to Ellie who wantedto be an astronaut. Maybe we will get to see that scene of her and Joel in the science museum later on then?
1The Story Of Ish
Both in the game and in the series, there is a good and creative amount of environmental storytelling that goes on.
Players and viewers alike are shown the lives of other survivors even if they don’t get actual screen time. One such survivor that fans of the games know by heart and that made it into the series is Ish. This figure looked over a group of kids in the underground area that the duo runs into when they are with Sam and Henry. It is hinted that he isn’t around anymore but was well-loved while he was.
