Limbus Company is an incredibly deep game, with difficult but satisfying combat, tons of lore, and intricate team building. Below, we’ll take a look at a few tips for players new to the game, to help make your journey through the City a bit smoother.

Take Your Time

At first, Limbus Company’s combat can seem erratic and difficult to follow. However, as you battle, you will come to understand its deep systems. At the start of the game, we recommendtaking your time in each and every fight, and try your best toread each skill descriptionand choose your targets wisely.

The more you read and use your skills, the easier it will be to understand. We also recommendturning off Auto Cointossin the settings, at least until you get used to this mechanic. Battles are executed by tossing a series of coins, by both you and your opponent; whoever has the higher value wins that clash before proceeding to the next. Seeing the actual coin toss will make this concept easier to grasp.

Understanding Identities And EGO

There are two forms of gacha mechanics in Limbus Company that determine how you construct your team and characters:Identities and EGO. At the start of the game, you will automatically recruit the game’s cast of twelve Sinners, which will each have their default Identity. These are essentiallydifferent personalitiesthat the characters can attune to, granting them new skill sets and attacks.

Identities and EGO are summoned in theExtractmenu using the game’s premium currency, Lunacy.

EGOs areequipable itemsthat grant the equipping character anadditional skillthey can use in battle. These are character specific, and can only be equipped in the corresponding slot: Zayin, Teth, He, Waw, or Aleph. Thesecan be used on any Identity of the corresponding character.

Build Cohesive Teams

There are tons of different Identities and EGOs in Limbus Company to collect and upgrade. For your best chances in battle, you should try tobuild teams around a common mechanicor damage type. This will make your Identities work togethersynergistically, stacking bonuses to each other and generally making encounters easier.

For example, several Identities have skills that inflict the Rupture status effect, like LCB Sinner Gregor and LCB Sinner Outis. These two characters caninflict and capitalize on Rupture, while LCB Sinner Faust dealsincreased damage to enemies with negative status effects, further increasing the synergy in your team. Keep things like this in mind when building your teams around specific encounters and battles.

Utilize Defensive Skills

There are seven deadly Sins in Limbus Company that your characters have certain affinities towards. Similar to type match-ups in other games, theseSin Affinities have certain strengths and weaknesses against other Sin Affinities, which partially determines the outcome of your clashes and damage dealt.

Defensive skills can be activated at any timeby tapping on the Identity’s portrait under skill selection. This willswap the bottom-row skillwith a defensive skill.

In certain situations, your character may be matched up against an enemy that they are weak to. In this case, since it’s more likely that you will lose the clash and end up taking damage, you canuse a defensive skill, likeEvade or Guard, to defend against the enemy rather than clash head-on. This cansave you from taking damage in unfavorable clashes.

Keep Your Party Upgraded

As you progress through the story of Limbus Company, you’ll face enemies of increasing strength. To keep up, you’ll need tostay on top of upgrading your strongest Identities, by leveling them up andincreasing their TierthroughUptying. To do this, you’ll need two different types of resources,Training Tickets and Thread.

Both of these can be found in their respectiveLuxcavation stages, which unlock at the end of chapters one and two. You can also get these resources from the Season Pass. Be sure to constantly upgrade your party as you continue through the story; if you find yourselflosing coin tosses, you’re most likely under-leveled.

Don’t Neglect Lower Rarity Identities

Similar to other gacha games, Limbus Company hasthree different rarity tiers for its Identities, indicated by thenumber of 0’s, where 0 is the least rare, and000 is the rarest. However, unlike many other gacha games,0 and 00 rank characters are sometimes stronger than 000 characters, so be sure not to neglect them.

For example,0 rank LCB Sinner Outis is exceptionally strong, and even outranks several 00 and 000 rank Identities. The reason behind lower rarity characters' strength varies, but be sure not to abandon them in favor of higher rarity Identities simply because of their rarity. You may find upgrading a variety of characters to help immensely whenbuilding strong teams.
