The purple deck is one of the most coveted decks inBattle Spirits Saga. Channeling the dark and infinite power of the occult, purple Spirits are twisted sorcerers and bloodthirsty necromancers, souls wreaking havoc from beyond the grave, and undead kings who once ruled far and wide and have been brought back against their will to keep fighting.

Commanding the best lore of all the decks, purple cards perform best when played in combos, and are designed to control the board using the core mechanic of depletion. With the right strategy, they can even deal higher damage than the fearsome star-tribedragonsof the red deck. Here are the best purple cards you can use to win.
10Earth Spider Demon
Earth Spider Demon is an excellent representation of how the purple deck works. If it holds a soul core, you may deplete a core from one of your opponent’s spirits and place it into their reserves, setting them back a level and increasing the time and cost of their upcoming attacks.
This spirit, which comes at the affordable cost of four cores and two reductions, is as useful in the early game as it is in the more complicated turns towards the end. It also teaches you the main skill you need to get the best out of the purple deck - war of attrition.

9Boa-Trictor
Boa-Trictor is what is known as a blocking counter, being a card that either takes away your opponent’s power to block or makes them pay a heavy cost for blocking. Packing a curse keyword, the sweet prerogative of the purple deck, Boa-Trictor destroys your opponent’s spirit at the end of the battle if it blocks one of your attacks that turn.
The real reason Boa-Trictor is so valuable, however, is its cost. At three cores and two reductions, Boa-Trictor makes it possible to deal a curse in the first few turns. This makes it an early game staple, as no other card packs a curse this cheap, and an excellent backup in mid-game matchups where you set out to take out all spirits on the board, one at a time.

8Deadly Balance
When Deadly Balance is dealt, which can happen as either a main or a flash play, you and your opponent have a difficult choice to make. You both need to choose a spirit to be destroyed. This forced sacrifice, which resembles the punishing destiny of cruel gods, is a powerful board shifter, often making your opponent decide to sacrifice their strongest card to offset the damage that could otherwise spread to their long game.
By putting a greater focus on their power to recuperate and come back with another winning strategy, Deadly Balance tells strong players apart from the mediocre, especially since the purple deck depends on shuffling in specific cards to deal out damage through tried-and-tested combinations.

7Netherworld Depths
Netherworld Depths is an extremely powerful draw engine, andarguably the strongest nexus card in the purple deck. Whenever one of your opponent’s cards is exhausted, Nexus Depths lets you draw a card. This is an especially useful LV1 ability, as it helps you cycle faster through your deck and get to those magic cards you need so much earlier on in the game.
For its LV2 attack, Netherworld Depths serves an attack similar to that of Boa-trictor - it destroys any opponent spirit that blocks your attack at the price of one core from this nexus.

Dread Knight Nemesis is what is known to Bandai players as the Aristocrat, he who puts himself in harm’s way and protects by self destruction. In the lore, Dread Knight Nemesis is Dirm Dyna, a “high commander of the enemy forces” who was “grievously wounded and dragged into the Dark World by one of its gods.”
For its LV1 through LV3 attacks, Dread Knight Nemesis slaughters one of your spirits to either let you draw two cards, or drain one of your opponent’s spirits of two cores, setting it back a few levels or killing it. For LV2 and LV3, it goes out with a bang, letting you select one of your opponent’s spirits and destroy it.

5Phantasm Archking Zenas
Phantasm Archking Zenas is similar to Boa-trictor, letting you destroy an opponent’s spirit that blocked one of your attacks when the battle ends. Its LV2 curse is equally valuable, ensuring that none of your other spirits with curse can be blocked by any of your opponents LV1 spirits.

This is great for a number of reasons. For one, it completely neutralizes strategies that bank on crowd sourcing attacks from lower level spirits, which works great against players that depend on two-cost cards to build up an attack until they have enough to roll out a big spirit. It also gives you an extra kill if you decide to attack a spirit different from the one that the LV1 effect destroys.
4Dark Knight Aglovale
Dark Knight Aglovale is great because it replaces itself, innovating on the draw engine mechanic by letting you draw a card when this one is destroyed, provided it has a soul core on it. This lets you deal twice as much damage as you would, and it does it at the low cost of three cores and two reductions.
Its LV2 attack packs a dependable purple curse, destroying any opponent spirit that blocks your attack when the battle ends. This makes it possible for you to punch above your weight and destroy a powerful card that you may not afford to kill early on in the game. When combined with other attacks mid-game, it helps you take out one more spirit than you would otherwise.

3Dark Bishop Baculus
Dark Bishop Baculus is one of the most powerful combo cards in the purple deck, that’s why most players shuffle in as many as four of them each game. By removing all but one core from all spirits on the field, Dark Bishop Baculus sets up the board for the final kill, and can win you the game when paired with heavy swinging spirits like Infernal King Curse Dragon or Grand Underworld Trio Queen Meduke.

But even a board wipe as powerful as a Dark Bishop Baculus combo is vulnerable if your opponent has a trigger effect setup, or counters with a flash effect, so be ready with a followup attack if your Dark Bishop Baculus fails or lose everything if the brunt of your turn-based damage falls on the Dark Bishop’s shoulders.
2Infernal King Curse Dragon
Infernal King Curse Dragon is a game-finisher. This gorgeously illustrated undead spirit removes one core from all other spirits and places it into their reserves. For each spirit destroyed by this move, a core from the void is placed onto this spirit.
Its LV2 attack employs a similar mechanic, it removes all but one core from an opponent spirit of your choice and places them into their reserve. For each of its LV1 and LV2 attacks, precise matchups can lead to a neat win, while regular gameplay will still let you walk away with significant damage.

1Grand Underworld Trio Queen Meduke
Grand Underworld Trio Queen Meduke is the most powerful card in the purple deck, beating Infernal King Curse Dragon as a reliable game-finisher. As the purple deck depends on putting spirits in the graveyard precisely to bring them back, and dealing damage to your opponent knowing that it gives them strength to deal more attacks, this cards LV1 through LV3 attacks places your opponent’s cores into the void instead of their reserve whenever one of your curse or bloodcurse spirits reduces your opponent’s life, denying them the power to retaliate.
Its other subsequent curses are equally powerful, giving all your spirits with curse a blood curse ability for LV3, and when it is destroyed, it lets you place one core from this spirit and another from your opponent’s life in the trash to keep the spirit on the field refreshed. Grand Underworld Trio Queen Meduke is not only hard to kill, it is likely the last thing your opponent will see before they die.
