Fire Emblem: Engage’s 1.3.0 update introduced the Ancient Well, a whole new mechanic within the Somniel that’s available regardless of whether you purchased the DLC. With it, you can turn your useless or excess weapons and items into other items of equal or greater value.

In addition to granting you a use for your extra or irrelevant equipment, you’ll also be granted access to the several potential “Joke Weapons” and SP books. With so many possibilities, the Ancient Well is a much-needed feature to the Somniel and any playthrough. And the more you invest into the Well - in time and resources, the more you’ll receive.
Activating The Ancient Well
In order to activate the Well, you’ll need tospeak with the Armourer in the Plazaafter completing the sixth chapter. He’ll note that he lost a few weapons down the well near the Training Yard, and he requests you find them. You canfind the well near the Wyvern Riding areajust past Alfred’s Training activity and off to the left.
Interacting with the Well will give you two A-grade weapons:
Return with these weapons to the Armourer, and he’ll tell you about the Well’s magical properties. From here, the Ancient Well will be activated for your continued use.
How The Ancient Well Works
You canleave up to five items between each battlein the well for a chance togain a random assortment of equipment and itemsof rarity that matches their total item value. This value isdetermined by their Gold Value, and the tier of items you’ll receive are noted on the left side of the Ancient Well menu.

These items can include things like rare A-grade weapons (particularly Brave weapons) and SP books. Currently, there are no other methods of gaining and farming SP books reliably.The higher the tier, the better the prizesgained will be. However, there are certain items (especially the “Joke Weapons”) that can appear no matter which tier your total value amounts to.
Joke Weapons
Returning from Fire Emblem: Fates and prior titles, joke weapons see their return to the series in Fire Emblem: Engage in the form of various desserts.
Each of themcan be obtained at any tier level, but your chances of gaining one will increase the higher the tier.
In terms of stats and usability, they appear torank in between the Iron and Steel gradesof each weapon type.They are sadly not upgradeable, but you can engrave them with Emblems for increased or altered effects. Additionally,they can also be consumed for HP,just like any other consumable item or food. Be warned, however, that consuming one of these weapons will make them disappear forever.

If you are not a fan of the Joke Weapons, you can place them back within the Ancient Well to trade them off for additional items. Their exact Gold Value is currently unknown, but their value does appear to at least be between 500-1,000GP per weapon item.
