Destiny 2’sSeason of Defiance has new challenges this week, most of which are fairly difficult. With the launch of Grandmaster Nightfalls, players will need to dive into Destiny 2’s hardest PvE content to get their Bright Dust and XP this week. Crucible and Gambit players have some major grinds as well, but this week features some of the largest XP and Bright Dust payouts yet.

This week, you’ll need to complete a GM Nightfall, play Competitive PvP, defeat tough enemies in Gambit, and complete a flawless Defiant Battleground. Most of these are quite time-intensive, so we’ll be going over the fastest methods of completing each while showcasing the exact rewards you’re able to expect.

Eternal Queensguard

Eternal Queensguard:Complete a flawless run in any Defiant Battlegrounds playlist location.

Reward

The wording of this challenge is slightly confusing. This Seasonal Challenge is simply asking you tocomplete a flawless run of any Defiant Battleground, regardless of difficulty or playlist. We highly recommend you spec for 100 Resilience and use a subclass build that’s dedicated to survivability. Some good options include Solar, Strand, and Void.

Solar users can benefit from constant Restoration through Healing Grenades and Ember of Empyrean, with Warlocks and Titans having additional sources of Restoration through Aspects or unique abilities. Strand has access to Woven Mail, the strongest DR buff in the game. If none of that sounds appealing, play a Void subclass and use Devour to refill your HP after every kill, making you virtually unkillable in add-dense firefights.

Defiant Focus

Defiant Focus:Decode or focus Defiant Engrams at the War Table during Season of Defiance.

This challenge is retroactive.

Decode 20 Defiant Engramsduring this season to complete Defiant Focus. The good news is that all Defiant Engrams you’ve focused will retroactively count toward this challenge. Visit the War Table at the H.E.L.M. to decrypt any Defiant Engrams you’ve saved up this season.

As for earning these Engrams, we highly recommendfilling out all War Table upgradesand farming your favorite activity. If you’re part of a clan or don’t mind LFG, raids and dungeons will grant two Defiant Engrams per encounter. Shattered Throne and Pit of Heresy make for great Defiant Engram farms whenever they’re the weekly pinnacle dungeon.

Favored Liberator

Favored Liberator:Generate Favors in Seasonal activities. All members of your current fireteam contribute to overall progress.

You and your fireteam must generate 60 Favors in Defiant Battlegrounds or the Avalon Exotic mission.Favors are unique buffs you generate from landing ability final blows or Heavy weapon kills. You’ll need certain War Table upgrades to spawn them.

Destiny 2 Defiant Battleground Ziggurat

Both you and fireteam members will grant progress for making these Favors, so this challenge shouldn’t take more than a few runs to complete. We recommend equipping Season of Defiance armor if you wish to finish this quickly, as Defiant armor pieces will increase your chances of spawning Favors.

Fleeting Glory

Fleeting Glory:Complete Crucible matches in the Competitive playlist. Earn bonus progress for wins.

Rewards

Fleeting Glory requires you tocomplete at least eight matches in the PvP Competitive playlist, wins granting more progress.Competitive is a 3v3 playlist featuring modes like Elimination, Survival, and Rift. Skill-Based Matchmaking is enabled and tuned aggressively in this playlist, so expect each of your games to be quite tough.

If you’ve never played in the Competitive Playlist before, your first seven games will range wildly in difficulty as the game attempts to measure your skill level.Your first seven matches are placement games, so don’t expect them to be easy. We recommend you simply boot up the playlist and do the best you’re able to. Don’t focus on wins and take breaks when needed.

High-Value Hunter

High-Value Hunter:Defeat powerful combatants in Gambit. Earn bonus progress for defeating high-value targets.

High-Value Hunter requires you todefeat 75 Powerful combatants in Gambit.Powerful combatants refer to any PvE foe that’s a major or tougher, effectively anything that doesn’t have a red health bar. HVTs grant far more progress and spawn about halfway in a Gambit match, so we highly recommend you hunt them down whenever possible.

Destiny 2 Gambit Warlock Versus Taken Ogre

We recommend defeating Blockers to get this done quickly, as every blocker type counts as a major. Primeval Envoys and the Primeval itself also count as tough foes. Assuming you may reach the Primeval phase each game, you should only need a few Gambit matches to finish this challenge.

Grandmaster:Complete any Nightfall strike on Grandmaster.

Grandmaster Nightfalls are available from now until the end of this season.Grandmaster is the highest difficulty tier for Nightfalls, setting you at a Power limit of -25 while adding far more Champions. In terms of difficulty, expect a GM to be slightly harder than a Master Nightfall. The seasonal surges and overcharge mechanic do make GMs slightly easier than they were pre-Lightfall, so veteran players shouldn’t have an issue getting this challenge done.

You’ll need a good build and a pre-made fireteam to clear a GM.LFG Discord serversand the Bungie.net forums can help with the latter. For the former, check out some of our build guides below:
