Dead Island 2’s Halperin Hotel is the second location that you will visit in your journey to escape Hell-A. Based on the famous Beverly Hills Hotel in Los Angeles, The Halperin Hotel’s defensive structure made it a key base for the army. The area may seem small but the verticality of the hotel and underground parking lot bulk the area out.

Although the hotel is one of the earliest visited areas in the game, you won’t be able to unlock the Halperin Hotel’s side quest and lockboxes until you’ve faced the horrifying Apex Zombie types during the main story.
Halperin Hotel Fuse Box Location
Halperin Hotel only has one Fuse Box location. It can be found on theright side of theHalperin Hotel Poolandright of the Poolside Bio Container. Replacing the fuse will open the bar window allowing you to climb over and loot a variety of crafting materials and aZomproof Slayer Hoard container.
Make sure to stock up on Fuses before traveling to the Halperin Hotel since there are no traders in the area.
Halperin Hotel Locked Safe Deposit Box and Key Locations
In the foyer of the Halperin Hotel, you will findfive locked safe deposits behind the main desk. Each deposit contains cash and random crafting materials. All five Safety Deposit Keys are found during the Room Service for Major Booker Main Quest and within the Halperin Hotel.
Safe Deposit Key #33
Found within the closed elevator on the second floor.
You will need to open the elevator by pressing the green button if you have not already done so during the Room Service for Major Booker Halperin Hotel main quest.
Opening the elevator for the first time will set a small group of Runners after you.
Safe Deposit Key #14
Found on the second floor in the corner ofRoom 208 by the end tableleft of the bed.
Safe Deposit Key #49
Found in the ventilation shaft on the third floor of the hotel.Crawl through the shaft and keep leftwhere the shaft forks in three directions.
Safe Deposit Key #53
The final Safe Deposit Key is found in thebathroom of Room 307 on the third floor. This room is easy to identify asMajor Booker’s base of operations.
Halperin Hotel Locked Safe Locations
Los Angeles has become a hellscape since the zombie infection first plagued the Californian hills and city. As a result, many lockboxes and safes contain rare weapons strewn across Hell-A.
To unlock each container, you must find its key by killing unique named zombies in the area. Most of these named zombies are Apex Zombies and, therefore, require you to progress through the story until you face the corresponding type.
Military Supplies Case
Found on the back of the Hummer by the Workbench and exit to Bel-Air. The Military Supplies Case is the first Locked Safe you may unlock in the Halperin Hotel. However, you first have to kill Becki the Bride in the Room Service for Major Booker main quest.
Completing the quest will cause Crusher zombies to spawn in the world along with theDrill Sergent,who carries the Military Supplies Case Keys. You will find himroaming the street between the crater and the Bel-Air exit.
Opening the Military Supplies Case will drop aMilitary Guarding Knife, an excellent weapon to use in the early game.
Military Courier’s Case
Found in thefoyer of the Halperin Hoteltowards the east side of the room by the pool entrance.
You mustcomplete Michael Anders and the Holy Grailmain quest andRav-Ages of Caustic-X side questbefore being able to unlock the Military Courier’s Case.
Return to the foyer once these have been completed andkill the Military Courier to obtain the Military Courier’s Key.
Halperin Security Safe
The Halperin Security Safe is located in the Security Booth by the electrified bus and broken fence leading to the Halperin Hotel.
To open the Security Booth, you will need todestroy the Mag Lockby throwing a weapon through the window of the booth. Make sure to destroy the alarm above the door, as this will attract zombies to your location.
To obtain the Halperin Security Safe Key, you must kill theHotel Security zombie. A basic zombie equipped with riot gear armor is found in the underground parking lot.
We suggest you return to this area later in the story, as thearea is filled with over-leveled zombies.
Poolside Bio Container
The Poolside Bio Container is found at the back of theHalperin Hotel pool in the right-hand side booth.Don’t forget toclean up the Caustic-X acidon the floor and watch out for exploding zombie sacs if you return much later in the campaign.
To unlock the Poolside Bio Container, you must firstunlock Slobber Apex Zombie typesby completing theMichael Anders and the Holy Grailmain questat Monarch Studios.
Sunbather, the Slobber Apex Zombie who carries the Poolside Bio Container Key, isfound in a flooded crater by Jamal’s red truck.We suggest electrifying the water with a weapon modded with an Electrocutor mod, as several zombies spawn at this location.
Laundry Room Locker
The Laundry Room Locker is found in the small Laundry Room onthe second floor of the hotel, marked by a pink neon sign.
You mustcomplete the Plumbing the Depthsmain story questbefore you’re able to unlock the Laundry Room Locker.
Returning to the Halperin Hotel after completing the quest will spawn theKaraoke Bridesmaid, a Voltaic ScreamerApex Zombie. A variant of the typical Screamer that can unleash devastating elemental electric attacks.
TheKaraoke Bridesmaid carries the Laundry Room Locker Keyand is found in the small ceremony area past the Caustic-X pool.
Be careful in this flooded area, as the Voltaic Screamer will electrify the ground. You canturn off the water by activating the pipe on the right side of the area.
Fancy Leather Trunk
The Fancy Leather Trunk is found outside the elevators on thethird floor of the hotel. The trunk is easily accessed by climbing the elevator shaft by the reception desk in the foyer.
To be able to unlock the Fancy Leather Trunk, you mustcomplete The Search for Truth main quest.
The Fancy Leather Trunk Key is carried by theMutated Guest MutatorApex Zombie, which can be found roaming thethird-floor corridor. You may have to fight aButcherApex Zombie along with the Mutated Guest.
Be careful fighting in the close-quarters area. Using a Chem Bomb will interrupt the Apex Zombies' action, so use it to your advantage.
Halperin Hotel Side Quests
Although the Halperin Hotel map highlights two available Side Quests, it has one Rav-Ages Of Caustic-X, which can be picked up after completing the Michael Anders and the Holy Grail Main Quest.
The game counts the Monarch Studios Boz Makes a Bang Side Quest for Halperin Hotel. This is likely because Hana, the quest giver of Boz Makes a Bang is the same quest giver of The Rav-Ages of Caustic-X.
The Rav-Ages Of Caustic-X Side Quest
You mustdefeatAlesis Hernandezand complete theMichael Anders and the Holy Grailmain story quest before you can acquire the Rav-Ages of Caustic-X side quest.
Once you meet these requirements,Hana will contact you via radio at Monarch Studios, who will task you with finding her medical student friend at Halperin Hotel.
Rav will be found on thebalcony of the Ballroom in the Halperin Hotel, where Becki the Bride jumps down during the Room Service for Major Booker quest.
Rav is studying Caustic-X, the acid used by the army to dissolve zombies, and needs your help to carry out some experiments. Your first task is to travel to thecrashed ambulancelocated near the electrified bus andretrieve the Caustic-X Shipment Receipt.
The ambulance is guarded by aCrusher and Ambulance Driver, a Slobber Apex Zombie. The area is surrounded by Caustic-X barrels, so use them to your advantage to kill the Crusher first.
Use the water cans or destroy the fire hydrant to clear up the Caustic-X on the ground before retrieving the Caustic-X Shipment Receipt.
Dropping The Beat For Rav
Once you pick up the receipt, It’s time to move on to the next objective, head back to the ballroom. Rav will ask you toDrop The Beat to provide a distractionin funky Dead Island 2 fashion. There are lots of supplies behind the DJ deck.
If you’re struggling to keep the walkers at bay, use your environment to your advantage. There areFuel Jerrycans,along with a Water Jerrycan and an electrical outlet that can be used to stun and burn zombies to stop the assault.
Kicking Zombies To The Caustic Pool
Once you’ve defeated the waves of undead, we’ll move on to the final objective of The Rav-Ages Of Caustic-X Rav will explain that he still needs more data on Caustic-X, prompting you tohead back to the Halperin Hotel pool.
Your next objective is tokick fourteen zombies in the Caustic-X-filled pool. Zombies will infinitely spawn until you complete this task, and zombies wearing hazmat suits will not count towards the objective due to their Caustic-X resistance.
With fourteen dissolving zombies in the pool, head back to Rav to receive theCaustic-X Bomb Curveballand theRare Melee Liquidator Mod.
