Have you ever playedSuper Mario Bros.and thought, hey, this is great. I just wish I could chainsaw a bad guy’s head off and get mauled to death if I mess up a boss fight. No? Alright, this article isn’t for you then. Leave.

Still here? Alright. Here’s a bunch of mods you may use to turnResident Evil 4 Remakeinto the zombie-killingNintendogame of your dreams. Whether it’s playing as the Mario Bros. or killing Bowser with a shotgun, there are a weird amount of Resident Evil 4 Remake mods that crossover with everyone’s favourite platforming plumber, and I have no idea why. But regardless of what the mod author was thinking, they’re truly breathtaking, and completely transform the game for a second playthrough.

First up, we have the mod that everyone needs to try out at least once, simply titled: Super Mario Bros. This turns Leon and Ashley into Mario and Luigi. According to the comments, Mario’s head is so cartoonishly large that it gets in the way of literally everything, but to be honest, I reckon that’s half the fun.

Peach isn’t left out of the fun either. Another mod swaps Ashley out with the princess. In a cat suit, for some reason. This pairs nicely with the mod that replaces enemies with Bowser, letting the duo wail on him throughout the story.

Don’t worry, the mods aren’t just for the main campaign. The Luigi Luis mod, as the name suggests, swaps Mario’s little bro out with Luis in Mercenaries, letting you take this wild journey to the latest game mode that was recently added in an update.

Surprisingly, these mods have proven pretty popular so far. The Super Mario Bros. mod already has more than 3,000 downloads, having been shared a couple of days ago. The Bowser mod has around 1,800 downloads too, suggesting there’s a fair amount of players who want to turn Resident Evil 4 Remake into the wildest Mario game ever.

It’s not too surprising, given that most fans seem to have already beaten the story as the devs intended. And as fun as the new DLC costumes are, they’re nowhere near as wild as what you’ll find on Nexus Mods. I mean, fans have already brought Moushley Graham to life, as we reported last week. This mod even has her pilot Leon’s head like in Ratatouille, because of course it does.
