When it comes to anime, it’s easy to think of the complex narratives or fights with both high stakes and high-octane action, and it’s easy to see what makes them so compelling to watch and enjoy. Enjoying your favorite titles is fine and all, but doesn’t it make you think about which characters you’d like to fight alongside?

Even better, what about the villains you would love to give a good two-piece to the face in the name of saving the world? You’re bound to run into a villain or two on this list that you’d agree with on that one.
8Fire Lord Ozai - Avatar, The Last Airbender
While not an anime by most fans' standards, you may tell it has a lot of love and inspiration for the genre, so why not add it to the list? Besides, wouldn’t you want to take on the sole source of worldwide misery, while he’s powered up by a giant comet?
Ozai’s extreme fighting style andmastery over manipulating his fire elementcould make for an explosive challenge that will have you flying in the air and using whatever you have at hand to take him out. Playing as the avatar will give you all the elements and moves you’ll need to meet him head-on, in the air, land, or water.

7Retsuko - Aggretsuko
A slice-of-life anime isn’t where you would think a worthy opponent in battle, Retsuko can sometimes be the antagonist of her own story. But make no mistake, Retsuko would be the final boss of her game. How, when there’s no fighting or combat of any sort? Throughintense after-work karaoke sessions, of course.
Each song you’d play would increase in tempo and volume as she and other people in her circle air out their grievances about life through graphic lyrics against the guitar. Or, if you’re like Manager Ton, then you can throw some lyrics down on the track as well as you can. You’re guaranteed to feel some relief from life’s stresses lifted off your shoulders for a while.

6Super Granzeboma - Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann
The Anti-spirals are quite possibly the biggest haters within the known universe. They believe that locking away spiral energy, the energy that makes the impossible possible throughout the universe, is the best way to save the universe from caving in on itself as a result of too much spiral energy. Their reach is extra long, extending generations and reaching the ‘earth’ as we meet the main cast.

When protagonist Simon and crew finally meet up with Super Granzeboma, the final boss of the anti-spiral race, they are the size of literal galaxiesand prove so by using other galaxies they are surrounded by for weapons and defense. Wouldn’t you want to fight using the universe itself as your way to victory? The fight is on a scale like no other.
5Sousuke Aizen - Bleach
The once mild-mannered and well-loved Captain of the soul society pulled a fast one andrevealed his true colors and selfish ambitions. Aizen wanted nothing more than to surpass everyone and become the god over all creatures, Shinigami and Hollow alike. At one point, his power became so immense that his mere presence disintegrated people nearby if they were much weaker than him. Truly terrifying stuff to see.
Aizen’s mastery over both his physical fighting prowess and his magic makes him a formidable foe alone, but he holds a much more insidious power that would be much harder to fight. His Zanpakto, swords that hold unique powers for each user, can manipulate all five of a person’s senses. Even if you knew he was using the ability, you would remain under his control.

4King Bradley (Wrath) - Fullmetal Alchemist
Equipped with a smile almost as deadly as his swords, King Bradley’s fighting skills and sheer willpower make fighting him feel like you’re fighting with a wall that can hit back. He took on a whole fortress (with tanks!)and wonwith a single sword and a chip on his shoulder.
Just imagine trading blow for blow and trying not to be the first one to take damage because as soon as that window of damage slips open, there is bound to be a barrage of pain that will follow. It’s a good thing King Bradley prefers fighting face-to-face rather than relying on magic of any kind; otherwise, he would be nearly invincible.

3Meruem - Hunter X Hunter
Before he was born, Chimera Ant King Meruem was destined for greatness if you were to ask his mother, the Chimera queen. Not that you’d have much of a chance to ask her since the main food source for the king-to-be was humans. Due to his diet of nen-dense humans, his power at birth is formidable, and his presence alone is enough to cause fear in the surrounding area.

Despite having all that power and fighting prowess he was born with, there’s only one game he would deem worthy of a final match between himself and you: Gungi, a game that is spiritually similar to the Japanese board game Shogi. The fight would be one of intellect, tactics, and reading your opponent. Though, you should probably leave out the ‘loser dies’ rule they have in the show.
2The Demon King - The Seven Deadly Sins
The consequences of The Demon King’s actions are felt back in season one between protagonist Meliodas and his destined love/tragedy Elizabeth. That doesn’t matter, as it isn’t in him to care about trivial things like that; the Demon King only has one goal: to oppose the Supreme Deity.
The King’s strength and fighting skills are given, seeing as he has existed and grown in strength over millennia, but what makes a fight with him go over the top is his ability known as The Ruler. Any attack that targets The King not only gets neutralized but turns into pure healing power, which keeps him in peak fighting shape. A perfect challenge for the hardcore Souls-type of player to take on.

1Gilgamesh - Fate/Zero
The King of Heroes himself appears. Though, it’s never a good sign when he does decide to show himself, worse if he shows up in his golden battle armor and all of his swords are bearing down on you. Gilgamesh’s power stretches far beyond the confines of battle, and one could argue that his magnetic charisma and desirability are weapons in their own right.
So, how would you be able to challenge someone who is seemingly invincible? This golden boy holds an arrogant gravitas. Fighting him would be a raid for the ages if he were to fight as he does in the show.
