There are plenty of different qualities that can pull you in to the RPG genre. The ability to alter your play style depending on who you want to be, the interesting locales, and even the impressive storylines can all bring players in.

Whatever brings you in to the genre, you’re sure to need some weapons for your epic quest. Whether you’re in the far reaches of space or an unrelenting dungeon, there are some weird weapons to choose from in RPGs. Weapons that will really make you question how they made it into the final stage of development.
10K9000 (Fallout: New Vegas)
The desert plains of the Mojave Wasteland inFallout: New Vegasare weird enough as is, withRoboscorpions, Deathclaws, and people cosplaying Roman legionariesall wanting to put you in a dusty grave.
Knowing that, seeing as weird a weapon as the K9000 seems almost normal. Almost. A hyper-advanced heavy machine gun that you find in the labs of Big Mountain, the hyper-advanced part comes from the fact that there’s the brain of a dog controlling it. The cyberdog invention apparently had some offshoots, but thankfully you’re here to reap the rewards.
9Ringed Finger (Elden Ring)
Elden Ringis a game unlike any other. The setting, story, and enemies are the sort that you’re able to’t really find in other games. Of course, the weapons are no different.
One such is perhaps the weirdest in the game. That being the Ringed Finger. It seems to be a large purple-ish finger wearing a series of rings. Technically, it’s a hammer. But, only technically. Bashing and flicking enemies with a giant magic finger never seems to get old. Not to mention if you level it up enough to start beating bosses with it.
8Kos Parasite (Bloodborne)
Bloodborneis a dark and gothic foray into the Soulsborne genre. With plenty of horrific creatures and a creepy atmosphere, you would need some weapons to share in the theme.

The Kos Parasite, is such a weapon. Any normal person wouldn’t go anywhere near it, but the world of Bloodborne isn’t exactly normal. You’ll find that wielding it takes a toll, Aaltering your character into a tentacled and slimy looking creature. You do gain the ability to shoot parasites and whip creatures with tentacles, is it really worth it though?
7The Chicken Knife (Final Fantasy)
TheFinal Fantasyseries is one that often takes the RPG genre to the extreme. Wacky dialogue, fun characters, and some pretty commonly used tropes are all to be found often in the games. Weird weapons show up pretty often too.
The Chicken Knife is sort of a mock weapon, being the opposite sword to the Brave Blade, but it does an impressive amount of damage. It has become such an integral joke in the game that it has appeared in multiple games in the series and become a fan favorite weapon.
6Keyblades (Kingdom Hearts)
The concept of an RPG mixed with Disney characters is definitely interesting. One that has done well in the past few decades, asKingdom Heartshas shown.
As if it couldn’t get much weirder, the main weapon of your protagonist is the mighty Keyblade. It may not look sharp, but it holds the light of the world inside it, and that’s the kind of power you don’t want to mess with. It’s an odd design, but one that has become loved by fans of the series worldwide.
5Hair (Bayonetta)
Taking on demons, angels, and everything in between in theBayonettaseries means you’ll need some tough and versatile weapons. No one could have expected that the weapon in question would be hair.
Granted, it’s somewhat magical hair, Bayonetta being a witch and all, but still. The amount of things she can do with her hair is wildly impressive. Whips, swords, pistols, and so many other weapons are in her arsenal. It makes for a fun concept, but not one that anyone would have seen coming.
4Tuna Sword (Phantasy Star Online)
There are plenty of RPGs with some odd and wacky facets to them. Weapons are no exception, especially inPhantasy Star Online.

Of the many weapons you find on your adventure, perhaps none are as wacky as the Tuna Sword. This takes the word ‘swordfish ‘to a whole new level. Wielded two-handed, this weapon may not seem deadly, but it can do a surprising amount of damage. The emotional toll done to whoever you hit is far worse than the physical though.
3Wabbajack (The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim)
The magic of theElder Scrollsseries is varied and often powerful. The powers gifted to you inSkyrimvia the Wabbajack by Sheogorath is something else entirely.
It is a valid weapon to use, if you don’t mind not knowing what it will do. There’s a long list of different effects that the Wabbajack may cast, from super helpful disintegration spells, to not as helpful cheese summoning spells. If you don’t mind a bit of randomness, then this is the weapon for you, but it’s definitely one of the weirder weapons out there.
2Cooking Utensils (Yakuza: Like A Dragon)
TheYakuzaseries is one that doesn’t often take itself too seriously. This feels doubly so inYakuza: Like A Dragon.
One of the many missions you may go on requires you to donthe attire of a chef. In addition, any trouble you run into means you get to fight them with the chef’s tools. Things like steak knives and cleavers would be good weapons, but they pale in comparison to deadly implements like the tongs or the stainless steel ladle. Apparently.
1Gettleburger (Borderlands 3)
TheBorderlandsseries is known for humor and just plain weirdness. So, withBorderlands 3, they really had to see how weird they could get.
Well, in the dystopian world where every company seems to be a weapons manufacturer, why not make a gun that shoots hamburgers? It may seem like the American dream, but it is far from it for those on the receiving end of this weapon, as the Gettleburger’s explosive hamburger projectiles can cook a group of enemies in no time.
