The Zelda series is filled with incredible games. In fact, the series is so strong that no one could be faulted for having more than one in their top ten games of all time. There will always be debate about which Zelda game is the absolute best, but I’m here to let you know,Twilight Princessis the cream of the crop.

How many games let you run around wrestling goats, finding bugs, and getting shot out of canons (multiple times) all witha demon living in your shadow? I’d be willing to say not that many, and while those things alone don’t make Twilight Princess the best, they certainly do help.
10Link Becomes The Goodest Boy
We all know thateveryone loves dogs, and those that don’t are not to be trusted, right? So when Link turned into a wolf in this game, everyone applauded. It was a brave decision to do something like this in a Zelda game, but one that became instantly iconic.
Wolf Link, also known as Goodest Boy Link, brings an entirely new layer to the classic Zelda formula. Destroying some creepy bugs is one thing, but getting to take on one of the coolest mini-bosses, Death Sword, as the wolf made the form instantly memorable.

9You Brawl With The Best
Speaking of awesome bosses, this game has some of the best in the series. A Giant Octorock is a fine boss if you’re a teeny tiny Link, but this Link is a burly farmer, he needs a real challenge. Some of those challenges just happen to be a hulking Goron, an enormous eel, a giant skeleton, and a literal dragon.
The developers really decided that Link hadn’t had life hard enough before and threw everything they could at this one. Even the mini-bosses are great! How many games let you take on a giant booty-smacking baboon? I would guess, not that many.

8The Double Clawshot Is A Thing That Exists
Who needs a single hookshot when you could have two, and they even have a cooler name? There are tons of fantastic items to use across the Zelda series, but the double clawshot is probably the absolute coolest.

you may live out yourSpider-Mandreams as Link by zipping around the City In The Sky. That city might be oddly void of places for any kind of beings to actually live, and it may be constantly falling apart, but that’s fine, because you’ve got a claw on each hand like some kind of fan-designed Mega Man boss.
7Midna Steals The Show
When you ask most peoplewho their favorite Zelda companion is, it’ll be rare to hear anyone say a name other than Midna. That might just be because most other Zelda companions are basically in-universe tip dispensers first and foremost, but still.
The sassy little imp quickly Simlish speaks her way into everyone’s hearts, and that segment where she almost dies is just a chef’s kiss. She’s one of the weirdest Zelda characters in existence, which makes it all the stranger that she hasn’t come back in any form in the mainline games.

6You Can Fight Ganandorf With The Fishing Rod
The king of all evil,Ganondorf is one imposing villain. Well, he’s imposing as long as you don’t know that you’re able to cheese the final fight in this game with the fishing rod. Yeah, for some reason, Ganondorf is really interested in your fishing rod.
If you use it, he’ll suddenly look off as if he’s wondering what genius plan Link has up his sleeve that involves defeating such a powerful opponent with something as simple as a stick and string. That might sound silly, and maybe it is, but that doesn’t make it any less amazing.

5It Has A Touching Love Story
You might be thinking that the story between Link and Ilia isn’t all that special and that anything with Midna is only teased at the very end, but you’re just forgetting the real love story of the game.
Once you head up to the Snowpeak Ruins you’ll bump into the adorable and hilarious yetis, Yeto and Yeta. Their entire dungeon is all about soup and yeti love, and it finishes with a hilarious rain of hearts to boot. How could anyone forget about something so wonderfully strange?

4It’s Got A Wild West Section
Twilight Princess really tried to do a lot of unique things, and a lot of those things, while a bit out of place, were awesome. One of the oddest things was the inclusion of the Hidden Village,a kind of take on the old west, complete with unique western-inspired music.
This game lets Link be a farmer, a wolf, a snowboarder (more on that later), and even a cowboy. The section is fairly short, but that just speaks to how memorable it is to a lot of fans of the game. You actually have to go through the town and route the enemies, something I’d totally bet inspiredRed Dead Redemption(that’s absolutely not a reach at all).

3Zant Is Just So Weird
Another one of Twilight Princess’s unique swings was the setup of the villain Zant. He’s originally positioned to be the big bad before the eventual reveal of Ganondorf, but that doesn’t take away from the evil Zant shows the world.

Every time you see him during the early sections of the game, he’s bodying absolutely everyone who stands against him. When you finally fight him, he throws a tantrum like some kind of five-year-old in one of the most bizarre boss fights in Zelda history, and it’s amazing.
2Link Shreds The Powder
You might think that Link’s shield-surfing in Breath of the Wild was impressive, but it had nothing on Twilight Princess Link’s snowboarding ability. The section comes out of nowhere, but somehow, it’s also completely expected by that point in the game.
A big yeti has a big fish and Link wants some wicked soup, so he implements his bestSSXmoves to get some. The only thing the segment is missing is some kind of dubstep version of the Hyrule field theme to shred to.

1Link Is An Absolute Tank
There’s always debate about which Link would beat the others in a fight, but anyone who’s a fan of this game will know that it’s not even a question. Twilight Princess Link is an absolute beast. The man goes from wrestling goats to wrestling Gorons, and eventually even Dark Beast Ganon.
He whirls around and chucks a giant ball of steel like it’s no sweat, and that’s just for fun. This Link could probablyOne-Punch Manthe rest of the Zelda universe, so it’s almost shocking that he even needed help from Zelda and Midna to reach the journey’s end.
