After twodecades of being stuck on the Nintendo 64,GoldenEye 007finally has an official rerelease on Nintendo Switch and Xbox platforms. While Nintendo still doesn’t have a real achievement system, Xbox certainly does and was the first to have it back in 2005.

The achievement list for GoldenEye will, for the most part, simply require you to 100 percent the game with all levels beaten on 00 Agent and getting all the cheats. However, GoldenEye ain’t easy, even with modern controls. Some of the times needed to unlock cheats and a few of the 00 Agent levels are brutal.

10Should Use A Guide

The achievement title doesn’t lie, as Should Use a Guide definitely requires one. It’s a multiplayer achievement, although you won’t need two controllers to get it. The description states to earn the Mostly Harmless multiplayer award, and to get it; you need to deal the least amount of damage out of all the players.

The problem is that getting it is random because you only get a few awards per match. It’s not like Halo, where you get every award you earned. As such, the achievement can take a while. To obtain it faster, you can simply start up a match and exit out, and there’s a chance you can get it. Still, it’ll take some time, and is best done when doing other multiplayer achievements.

9License To Kill

By far, the hardest and longest multiplayer achievement is License to Kill, which will require you to get 100 kills over time. This will actually require two controllers and can take an hour and a half to get. To make the process a bit quicker, make sureGolden Guns are available as weapons, as that means only one hit will get a kill. The process is quite boring, though.

8Duck!

Streets is probably the most simple level in the game, and that’s likely why the speedrun achievement is one of the hardest. To get the Duck! achievement, you must beat Streets in under one minute and 45 seconds on Agent difficulty. If you don’t know the exact way you should do this, you won’t beat the time, and even with the specific strategy, it’s inconsistent.

As soon as you start, blast the guards on your way to the tank and ride that to the end. You must ensure no obstacles are in your way, as that will slow you down. You’ll likely miss the time if you hit too many. The speedrun can feel like luck, but you should eventually get it with enough time put in.

7Here They Come!

In terms of the tightest time limit, Statue is the hardest to get. In order to acquire the Here They Come! achievement, you must clear Statue on Secret Agent in under three minutes and 15 seconds. To get this, you must do every single time save.

You have to talk with Valentin from as far as possible, blast at Alec’s goons as soon you complete the objective, and take the fastest route. It’s highly recommended you use a video guide, as even specific trails and pathways need to be navigated to get the time. It’s that tight. You’ll likely beat this time by only a second, but it’s very rewarding when you finally do it.

6I Am Invincible!

The most notorious cheat unlock in all of GoldenEye is clearing Facility on 00 Agent in under two minutes and five seconds. There’s even a specific counter in the stats section on Xbox that counts the attempts of Facility on 00 Agent. It’s that infamous. The actual gameplay difficulty isn’t too bad once you learn the route and learn the mine trick to clear the guards in the hallway after the security door. What makes this so brutal is Dr. Doak.

On Secret and 00 Agent, you must interact with him to get a door decoder. He can spawn in many areas, and only two are convenient in a speedrun. You’ll have a great run, and then Doak won’t be in those two locations, and you’ll have to start over again.

5Double Zzzzap!

There are two bonus levels in GoldenEye, and the first one is the hardest level in the game. Aztec is a long mission that offers some deadly enemies you need to dispatch. The time to clear is nine minutes, and thankfully you only need to do this on Secret Agent. If it was 00 Agent, it would be much harder.

This is a very difficult level at first, but with enough practice and enough time put in, you can do it. Nine minutes is a pretty forgiving time limit as long as you’re efficient with killing the enemies and remember all the steps with the objectives. Make sure to move through the computer area first, as going down under will likely result in Jaws killing you.

4A Silver Lining

Train is one of the hardest levels on 00 Agent, and as such, it’s no surprise the time limit cheat unlock is also in that same league. The time limit itself isn’t too bad, considering the best way to beat this level is to speed through it while killing all the enemies. The issue is the ending. In the last part of the mission, Natalya needs to be saved by shooting Ourumov.

Most people will simply do that, and by the time Natalya cracks the password, you’ll only have five seconds to leave. Most of the time, this will result in Natalya dying. The trick is you have to awkwardly shoot both Ourumov and Xenia with the same burst of fire. With that, Natalya has more time to finish.

3Better Than 2x Klobbs

Up there with Aztec in terms of hardest levels, Caverns is a long mission with plenty of baddies and some frustrating objectives. The time limit is nine minutes and 30 seconds, and that’s more strict than Aztec and Train. You can still take your time at points, but you definitely need to rush quickly to beat the time limit.

There’s no body armor at all, so you must keep damage to a minimum. A frustrating aspect of the mission is minimizing scientist casualties. Several of the objects you must blow up to clear objectives can be right near scientists, and since this is a speedrun, you can’t wait for them to move. Two scientists killed, and it’s game over.

2Bond… James Bond

For beating every core level on 00 Agent mode, you’ll unlock the Bond… James Bond achievement. Many of the hardest levels are also difficult because of their speedrun cheat attached to them, but others, not so much. Silo, Bunker 2, and Control have pretty straightforward speedrun cheats, but they’re all incredibly hard on 00 Agent.

Silo is a linear and difficult mission that has tons of baddies you must kill. Bunker 2 is a straight-up stealth mission where you can’t afford to trigger an alarm until you’re deep into it. Control has that hold-the-line section with Natalya, where you must check all corners for enemies while ensuring you still have ammo to spare. The whole campaign is a major challenge, especially near the end.

1Samedi Fight Fever!

There are three total achievements for beating the final mission, Egyptian, and it isn’t that bad on its own. The trickiest part is navigating the tiles to get the Golden Gun, but once you have it defeating Baron Samedi should be simple. You will need to kill him three times, anice reference to his Bond film, but it’s still not that hard. The issue is unlocking the level.

Not only do you have to beat the core campaign on 00 Agent, but you must clear Aztec on 00 Agent too. Aztec’s the hardest level, and even if you’re good at it, there are so many steps to clear the objectives you can easily forget. If you do forget, this will likely lead to you dying.
