Making a survival game is a surefire way of getting players to pour hours into your world - visiting all the locations, following every lead to unlock hidden mysteries, and really challenging themselves tobuild bigger bases, farm more resources, and find cooler tools. InSons Of The Forest, you get to do all that AND fight demons, cannibals, mutants, and mysteriously hostile personnel in silver unitards.

Modding a survival game, however, is a whole other ball game, mainly because you get to do all that and sandbox your way out of otherwise mundane tasks. There are a lot of Sons Of The Forest mods out there, and these are some that will make for some hilarious scenarios while using them.
8Start A Rave
When you’re just starting out, you might not think a radio is that useful. All it does is play music, right? That might be the case until you’ve spent several hours walking through a dark forest that’s infested with all kinds of monstrosities. Sure,Virginia and Kelvinmight be good company…if you don’t mind the extra limbs and utter lack of conversation.
That’s what theRadio Spawnermod is for, getting you all those radios that are scattered in unmarked locations across the map and piling them up for you into one loud mound of dated technology. Now, all that’s left to do is to play them all at once, and you got yourself a party. Even better, you can pair it up with theKelvin Clonermod or theMultiplayer Unlimitermod and start an island rave.
7Walk On Sunshine
All those ugly metal bunkers and their monsters aside, the mountains do make for great scenery, especially from above. Too bad you only get to see them for one or two minutes at a time as you use your hang glider to cross the plains to your objective, which will undoubtedly involve fighting one of these monsters in a large metal bunker.
If you’re not that big on fighting, theInfinite Ziplinemod gives you a bit of a breather, allowing you to slide across miles and miles while up in the air as you think about life, love, death, monsters and what it all means. Trust me; it’s a lot easier to think about those things when you’re dangling a few thousand feet above ground. The implementation is as funny as it sounds.
6Fly To The Moon
As with all survival games, and particularly with Sons Of The Forest, it takes a lot of walking. Be it to follow your objectives to resolution, figure out parts of the story, follow the purple trackers to the GPS locators, or the green trackers to the subterranean locations. With a bit of time spent in the game, you will even need to walk a lot more to find the tools and resources you need to build your base or fight enemies.

Some modder looked at this problem and said to themselves: I don’t need to walk. I can fly! And thanks to them, we have aFlight mod. It’s pretty funny to just see yourself float above danger and fly away from it. Now, you don’t even need to fight enemies anymore; that would be stooping to their level. you may just… rise above them.
5Play Among The Stars
Whoever thought of this definitely played Terraria before because there’s nothing like aFloating Baseto ward off wandering zombies, or in this case, tribes of strangely existential cannibals. It also does a great job at establishing dominance, because the one thing that’s better than building a base in the middle of a forest beset by demons is building one in the air.

It is, however, unclear how you’re able to get to it without a flight mod installed, but we’ll see what the internet has to say about this. Still, defending your floating piece of land can be hilarious.
4Thomas The Destroyer
If Kelvin andVirginia aren’t cheeky enough for you, there’sa mod that randomly spawns Thomas The Tank Enginewherever you are. He’s also not that great of a conversationalist but he is great for comic relief when it gets a little too intense.
Another great thing about this specific mod is that it’s only a matter of time before a Shrek version comes up, huffing and puffing and tooting along.
3Unlimited Multiplayer Mode
There are two kinds of people in the world: those who believe in a one-man island and those who believe it takes a whole village. If you’re the latter or just need some company as you take on whatever this nightmare vacation destination has to throw at you, theMultiplayer Unlimitermod is definitely for you.
Now, you’re able to invite all your friends and repopulate a new earth, maybe even turn this radioactive desolation into a thriving nation. Instead of bartering or currency, you can play dodge coconut ball, and whoever wins gets the cattle. This lovely infested island is your oyster.
2Frolic in Mushroom Land
In addition to enhancing overall accessibility, this is probably one of those mods that are meant to work with another because if you combine thisDisco Reshaderwith Unlimited Multiplayer mod and throw in some music on Discord, you can really turn this game into a whole different beast.
It’s one thing to take ondemons and enemiesof the night and a whole other thing to do it in a purple world. Just be sure not to join a beach cult and then strike out on your own; we all know how that turns out.
1Build A Clone Army
I ask you this: what’s the point of solving a scientific mystery where a lunar event mutates a bunch of billionaires into baby-slinging behemoths if you can’t build your own clone army? A perfectly fair thought and probably whatthis modderthought as they worked to give players the ability tospawn infinite Kelvins.
Thankfully, Kelvin is a helpful companion, so now you may also use his clones to do everything, including building bases, finding food, fetching radios, and defending you while you lounge around drinking a cocktail and watching Virginia dance.
