When yourPokemonare low on HP, you can rely on these healing moves to bring them back to fighting form. When it comes to battling, it’s important to watch your own Pokemon’s HP rather than merely focusing on damage and reducing your opponent’s health. After all, you can’t take down your opponent if your best Pokemon faint first.

Having a useful healing move can be extremely beneficial inthe heat of battle. If your Pokemon finds itself on the last of its HP, a healing move could be just what you need to turn the tide back in your favor. A lot of healing moves can have other benefits, too, rather than just restoring HP, such as lowering your opponent’s attack or dealing damage to them as well, so there are plenty of great moves to choose from.

10Best Of Both: Pollen Puff

Pollen Puff has different benefits depending on the move’s target. If Pollen Puff is used on an opponent, it will deal damage; however, when it’s used on an ally, it will restore their HP by up to 50 percent.

Having a versatile move can be beneficial, as Pollen Puff is useful both offensively and defensively. While you’re able to only use Pollen Puff as a healing move in Double Battles, it’s useful in a pinch to support your other Pokemon and ensure they don’t go down.

9Risky Move: Pain Split

As the name suggests, Pain Split is a healing move that shares the ‘pain’ between your Pokemon and your foe’s Pokemon. By using Pain Split, you’re able to take your opponent’s HP as your own, as the move takes both Pokemon’s current HP and divides it by two, then splits it equally between them.

Though Pain Split is situational, it can be extremely effective in the right scenario. For example, if your opponent has recently used a healing move of their own and your Pokemon is low on health, you may use it to even the playing field.

8Long Pay Off: Leech Seed

Unlike other healing moves, Leech Seed’s effectiveness takes place over multiple turns. When Leech Seed is used, your Pokemon plants a seed on your opponent, slowly depleting it of its HP and transferring it to your Pokemon.

Leech Seed is beneficial in longer battles, where the passive HP restoration is something you’ll be thankful for. As long as your opponent’s Pokemon doesn’t switch out, your other Pokemon can benefit from it, too, as even if the Pokemon that performed the move faints, HP will continue to be drained and restored to your team. Pair this move withthe Poision status conditionto bolster its usefulness.

7Healing Feathers: Roost

Mostly used byFlying-type Pokemon, Roost is a move that allows your Pokemon to restore up to half of its HP. Although Roost doesn’t have any additional benefits like some other healing Pokemon moves, it does make your Pokemon lose its Flying typing for a single turn.

Depending on the situation, Roost’s ability to change your Pokemon’s typing can, in fact, be beneficial, as it will allow your Pokemon to take less damage against moves that are Super Effective against Flying types. Although it might take some foreplanning, Roost can be useful in various situations with the right setup.

6Heal And Boost: Grassy Terrain

Grassy Terrain is another example of a passive healing move that slowly replenishes your Pokemon’s HP over multiple turns. Grassy Terrain changes the climate of the battlefield to grass for five turns, healing your Pokemon as well as boosting Grass-type moves.

This move is both offensive and defensive, allowing you to keep your Pokemon healthy while taking advantage of the Grass-type move power increase. Use Grassy Terrain as soon as your Pokemon switches in to reap its healing benefits throughout the rest of the battle.

5Healing Nature: Moonlight/Morning Sun/Synthesis

Moonlight, Morning Sun, and Synthesis are a trio of healing moves that can restore HP, with the amount restoreddepending on the weatherand time of day when the battle takes place. At their most effective, these moves will restore two-thirds of a Pokemon’s HP.

You’ll need to be strategic when using these moves to make the most out of them and use other moves alongside them to your advantage. For example, using Sunny Day will produce harsh sunlight in battle, allowing you to maximize the HP you restore when using these moves.

4Steal The HP: Giga Drain

Giga Drain is one of the best options when it comes to healing Pokemon moves, as it attacks your opponent while restoring your Pokemon’s HP at the same time. Your Pokemon’s HP is restored by up to 50 percent of the damage dealt, making it the most powerful out of other similar moves, such as Mega Drain and Absorb.

From Generation 4 onwards, the percentage of HP that you can steal using Giga Drain is increased to 65 percent if your Pokemon isholding a Big Root. If you have a Grass-type Pokemon on your team, it’s worth teaching it this helpful move to get the same-type attack bonus as well.

3Better Than Ever: Leech Life

Leech Life works in a similar way to Giga Drain, stealing 50 percent of your opponent’s HP while performing an attack simultaneously. Unlike Giga Drain, Leech Life is a Bug-type move, making it especially effective against Psychic, Dark, and Grass-type Pokemon.

Although in previous generations Leech Life only had an attack power of 20, this was dramatically increased in Generation 7, and it now has a huge power of 80. This allows for a higher proportion of HP to be restored to your Pokemon, depending on the damage you inflict.

2Drain HP And Attack: Strength Sap

Rather than other healing moves that steal your target’s HP, such as Giga Drain and Leech Life, Strength Sap literally saps the strength from your target. The move heals your Pokemon by the same amount as your opponent’s Attack stat. It has the additional benefit of reducing your opponent’s Attack stat, which, helpfully, doesn’t affect how much HP your Pokemon recovers.

1Can’t Be Beat: Rest

Rest is a staple of Pokemon battles when it comes to healing moves - it allows you to recover all of your HP and removes status conditions. However, this enormous benefit is in exchange for your Pokemon sleeping for two turns.

This downside can be mitigated, though, by using various tactics. You could teach your Pokemon moves it can use while sleeping, such as Snore or Sleep Talk, to attack your opponent. Alternatively, give it a Chesto Berry to hold, and it will eat it and wake up immediately, allowing you to continue the battle with a new advantage.
